England National Team: Tuchel’s Manchester Men

Here is a rundown of some of the footballers with close ties to Greater Manchester who could be making their way into Thomas Tuchels’ maiden England squad.

00:03football, specifically which players with links to Manchester are set to make it into Thomas

00:07Tuchel's first England squad. In goal, Jordan Pigford is likely to be the starter given his

00:11excellent performances for England over the last few years, but two keepers that could back him up

00:15could be from Manchester, with Dean Henderson performing well at Palace and James Trafford,

00:19previously at Man City, playing remarkably well at Burnley in the Championship.

00:23In defence, another Burnley player could be on the fringes of a call-up with CJ

00:26Egan-Reilly coming through at City and having been excellent this year. John Stones, Harry

00:30Maguire, Karl Walker and Rico Lewis should all be in contention at least, with Tosin Aradabayo

00:34and James Tarkowski, both who have links to Greater Manchester, on the fringes as well.

00:39In midfield, Kobe Mane who might have had a good chance but for his unfortunate injury,

00:43which will rule him out for this set of fixtures, while Mason Mount, a very popular player with

00:46Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, has himself been incredibly unlucky with injuries since joining

00:50Man United. Morgan Rodgers has had a sensational season for Villa, having made his way through

00:55Manchester City's academy. He should be on Tuchel's list for a call-up, alongside Phil

00:58Foden and Cole Palmer, who will compete for the roles behind the striker if Tuchel sticks to his

01:02expected 3-4-2-1 formation. It's also worth keeping in mind Dwight McNeil, born in Rochdale,

01:08who's been one of Everton's better players over the last few years. Due to playing under

01:11coaches like Sean Dyche and David Moyes, he's pretty good defensively and could be an outside

01:15competitor for the left wing-back role. Finally up front, we should see at least one of Liam

01:19De Laat, Marcus Rashford or Danny Welbeck making it in, the latter two obviously coming through at

01:23Manchester United. Rashford has started to show flashes of the player he once was at Villa. Danny

01:28Welbeck has been phenomenal over the last few years for Brighton and he's worth including as

01:31an elder statesman at least, perhaps assisting the development of someone like De Laat, who's

01:35scored 10 goals for a struggling Ipswich in the Prem this season after joining from Man City in
