00:00And as you mentioned there, Senator Ted Cruz has been pushing for this for a while.
00:06What is his main arguments?
00:11Again, he's, you know, he's been doing this. He's been trying to push this legislation for
00:15several years now. But really, the October 7th attack kind of pushed him to start renewing focus
00:23and renewing attention on this. And I spoke to some of the folks close to him over the last 24
00:28hours. And then this morning, he even he spoke on a podcast that he thinks the Muslim Brotherhood
00:33should be designated outright due to the violent attacks and events of recent years that he says
00:41pose a threat to U.S. national security. And what are the next steps in the legislative process?
00:48And what is the likelihood of it being actually implemented at this stage?
00:53This could go one of several ways. So he reintroduced legislation, which basically
00:59means you're introducing a new bill. So what does that mean? There's it goes to the relevant
01:05committee, which in this in this case is the Foreign Affairs Committee. If it passes through
01:10the committee, they start talking about markups, they change language, they add, they revise.
01:16If that passes, then it has to pass the Senate and then the House before it goes to the president's
01:21desk for him to sign into law. As for how likely, I mean, it seems from speaking to, again, the people
01:29around Ted Cruz and Ted Cruz himself, they think that it's very, very likely that it will get through.
01:36Again, that's the legislation part. There's another route that this could take, which some are saying
01:41that this is what the senator is trying to do, is kind of rally support for the president to issue an
01:48outright executive order designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization,
01:52or it could be an SDGT, which is a specially designated global terrorist. But we've seen FTO really carries
02:00more of a symbolic, more symbolic weight, such as groups like ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah. And just
02:07something to note as well, this isn't, this has gone across the, it's not a part, no longer a partisan issue
02:13per se. There was a Democratic congressman this morning who actually penned a letter to President
02:19Trump and Secretary Rubio to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as an FTO.
