00:00One of the main differences before we even got going, home ice advantage.
00:04That belongs to the Oilers up in the Great White North.
00:07In game number one was in Edmonton.
00:10The Oilers a home ice favorite, a total of six and a half.
00:14But would the result of this year's Stanley Cup final also look different?
00:19Well, through one game, the answer to that question is very much a yes.
00:24Edmonton wins in OT, four to three, courtesy of the second goal of the game.
00:30By Leon Dreisaitl.
00:31He snipes in the game winner with 31 ticks remaining in that overtime session off a dime from Connor McDavid.
00:39The Oilers win game number one and take a 1-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup final with a 4-3 win.
00:46Yeah, great start to the game too for the Oilers.
00:48You take a look at that goal scored within the first minute and a half of the game.
00:51The fastest scored in Stanley Cup playoff history in game number one from Reggie Leach's Philadelphia Flyers
00:57when they took on the Montreal Canadiens in the mid-1970s.
01:00That gets the house started.
01:01But how about this?
01:02Give it about like an hour and 15 minutes of real time later.
01:05You start the second period and it's 3-1 Florida.
01:08Oh no, here we go.
01:10It's going to be a blowout.
01:11The Panthers are just too deep.
01:12All three lines, better goaltending.
01:14And then the game finishes up 4-3 with an exciting overtime goal by Leon Dreisaitl there.
01:18Open the game.
01:19As I say, grand opening, grand closing.
01:21It was Leon Dreisaitl last night giving the Oilers that 1-0 lead.
01:24You have to hold home ice here.
01:26Now it's even more important for the Edmonton Oilers in game number two to win that game
01:29and put the ultimate pressure on the Florida Panthers here.
01:32Great start for the Oilers.
01:34Great finish for the Oilers.
01:35And this is something that I talked about opening the show.
01:37The Florida Panthers don't give up two goal leads here very often.
01:40As a matter of fact, the fact they did it in the Stanley Cup finals in game number one,
01:44even more shocking here.
01:45They were looking to take that vice grip at home ice advantage back even after game number one.
01:50Weren't able to do that.
01:51Love to see if the Oilers should be proud because they got that game one victory.
01:54Now they can be the aggressors here moving forward.
