00:00Investigations into a coffee vending machine investment scheme that purportedly led to

00:06investors losing some 6.7 million ringgit has been classified by prosecutors as requiring no

00:12further action. Salangor Police Chief Hussein Omar Khan said 101 reports had been lodged over

00:18the scheme from January to April, with complainants saying they lost a total of 6.7 million ringgit.

00:25He said the victims were given detailed explanations and representations about the

00:28investment scheme with the promise of high returns, Bernama reported. They then joined the

00:34scheme and made payments to the bank accounts with which they were provided. Hussein said the

00:39victims were unsure whether the investment was legitimate, adding that while they initially

00:43received some returns, the payments gradually stopped. While the cases were probed for cheating

00:48under Section 420 of the Penal Code, the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office eventually decided that

00:54no charges for fraud-related offences would be filed. Hussein advised the complainants to pursue

01:00civil action, particularly to contest any breach of the agreement they had signed and to recover

01:05their investments.
