00:00Muslims in Nigeria are staring at a high cost of RAM in other communities, even as they begin celebrating Eid al-Adha.
00:12For many, the cherished tradition of sacrificing a RAM, which is considered as a powerful act of faith and gratitude, is now seeping away.
00:21We've been reading a lot about everything, about the inflation and everything, but I didn't know it was this bad, to be honest with you.
00:27Because I obviously came for Eid, I'm not based here, I came in for Eid, but I didn't know what we read on the internet, it can't be compared to what is really on ground, it is unbelievable, very shocking.
00:43The RAM we bought for, that I bought personally, around, let's say 200,000 last year, right this year is about, we'll start negotiating from 600.
00:52The President Tenubu's fiscal policies have triggered the worst cost of living crisis, further fueling inflation rates of more than 23%.
01:00The economy of this country, we are just managing it, it's actually unbearable. It's not that we are comfortable with everything, it's a condition we found ourselves in.
01:09We just have to buy RAM for the Eid celebration, because it's the tradition of our religion. Last year, I bought three RAMs, but this year I can only afford to buy two, due to the economy of the country.
01:19As the festivities begin, there is a growing concern that the high cost of living will dampen the celebratory spirit, as what was once a proud family ritual becomes a financial burden few can bear.
