Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo says he remains committed to expanding ties with Taiwan. He's in Taiwan for his first state visit along with a delegation of ministers.

00:30President Arrebalo is on his first state visit to Taiwan since taking office last year.

00:37He's accompanied by Guatemala's foreign minister, economy minister and other officials.

00:42Arrebalo says he plans to advance strategic ties with Taiwan in sectors including education, agriculture and technology.

00:50President Lai Ching-de says Taiwan will continue to expand cooperation with Guatemala as well.

01:00Guatemala is one of Taiwan's 12 remaining diplomatic allies and has faced pressure from Beijing to sever ties with Taipei.
