On his second trip to China this year, former Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou met with China's Taiwan Affairs chief Song Tao and called for enhanced cross-Strait cooperation. Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council, however, expressed concerns over his remarks, saying he should not risk undermining Taiwan's status. Ma is leading a delegation of Taiwanese students on a visit to China for a cultural exchange.
