US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar will visit Taiwan in the coming days, his office announced on August 4, 2020. It will be the highest level visit by any US Cabinet official to the island since 1979. Beijing has protested against the visit, saying it ‘opposes official interactions between the US and Taiwan’ and urges the US to abide by the one-China principle.
