00:00Nigeria Authority has arrested two British citizens, Mitsa Jordan Alexander Tatendra and Aedipe Andrew Adedjuan at Matala Mohamed International Airport while trying to smuggle some quantities of illicit drugs into the West Africa country through Qatar.
00:15The British citizens were arrested a fortnight ago by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA alongside their Nigeria collaborators.
00:24NDLEA in a news release gave details about the report and other news of 6.5 billion Naira's opioids intercepted in Lagos, Rivers Ports as NDLEA also destroyed 77,000 kg skunk in Cross River, Edo Forests, and recovered 4,000 kg in Nassarawa stated as presented below.
00:47No fewer than 6 million pills of opioids namely, Tamil 225 mg, Tapantadol 225 mg and Carisopridol 225 mg as well as 332,000 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup with a combined street value of 6,524,000,000 Naira,
01:11have been intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onay, Rivers and the Apapa Seaport, Lagos.
01:29The sieges at the Apapa and Onay Ports followed intelligence and tracking of new trafficking routes to ship illicit substances into Nigeria by drug cartels, which necessitated the watch-listing of the containers for 100% examination.
01:43The consignments at the Port Harcourt Ports, 6 million pills of opioids and 162,000 bottles of codeine syrup were uncovered in two containers on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 May 2025 during a joint examination of the shipments by NDLEA offices with men of the Nigeria Customs and other security agencies.
02:07At the Apapa Port in Lagos, a total of 170,000 bottles of codeine syrup were discovered in a watch-listed container by NDLEA operatives during a similar joint examination exercise on Thursday 22 May.
02:22Meanwhile, two British nationals, Mitsa Jordan Alexander Tatandra and Aedipe Andrew Adijuan as well as two Nigerians, Shinowo Oluasian Amole and Afuoma Omikaro Iogami have been arrested by NDLEA operatives for attempting to smuggle into Nigeria 92 bags of loud,
02:43a strong strain of cannabis weighing 51.10 kilograms through the Matala Mohamed International Airport, MMIA Akeja Lagos.
02:52Alexander was intercepted with the consignment upon his arrival at the MMIA on a Qatar airline flight from Doha based on Processed Intelligence on Thursday 15 May.
03:04He was allowed to pass through the security control unhindered and closely monitored by NDLEA operatives to the car park,
03:11where the owner of the cargo, Aedipe Andrew Adijuan, who is a Nigerian-British, was waiting in an SUV along with his relation Shinowo Oluasian Amole and the driver of the vehicle, Afuoma Omikaro Iogami, to receive the courier.
03:27The NDLEA operatives tracking them however swooped on them as they attempted to drive out of the airport car park, arresting them with the drug exhibits in the vehicle.
03:38In his statement, Alexander confessed he was recruited during his vacation weeks ago while he was promised 1,300 British pounds after a successful delivery of the consignment in Lagos.
03:49The arrowhead of the syndicate, Aedipe Andrew Adijuan, confessed that he arrived in Nigeria a day earlier from South Africa through Ghana.
03:58A follow-up operation at their apartment in Leckie led to more discoveries.
04:04At the point of his arrest, 93,000 nairas and 17,200 South African rand were recovered from him while a search of his Leckie apartment

04:31A total of 75,000 kilograms of skunk were destroyed on 30 hectares of cannabis farms by NDLEA operatives at the Sukodok village in Odikpani local.

04:50while 1,957.5 kilograms of the same psychoactive plant was destroyed at Ohosu Forest, Ovia Southwest Local Government Area and Okus Community Forest,

05:10In Nasarawa State, two suspects, Sunday Daniel, 51, and Abu Peter, 30, were arrested at Kefi by NDLEA operatives on Saturday the 24th of May
05:22when 4,000 kilograms of skunk were discovered concealed under unprocessed wood in their lorry,
05:29while another suspect, Godwin Obi, 39, was nabbed at Karu with 154.5 kilograms of same substance on Wednesday the 21st of May.
05:41In Kaduna, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Kaduna.
05:45Zarya Expressway at Gwagwaje on Wednesday the 21st of May, intercepted 22-year-old Muhammad Hamza with 57,750 pills of tramadol and diazepam,
05:58while same day their counterparts in Bauchi arrested Usmane Muhammad, 45, along Bauchi-Masau Road with 80 blocks of skunk weighing 45 kilograms.
06:08Similarly, operatives on stop and search operations along Patiskam Damaturu Road,
06:15Yobay State intercepted 55 parcels of Colorado, weighing 2 kilograms,
06:20which a suspect Adam Muhammad, 29, was attempting to smuggle into the Republic of Chad through Namburu-Ngala border town in Borno State.
06:29In Niger State, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Mokwajeva Road on Thursday the 22nd of May intercepted a Mercedes-Benz car marked FST-938
06:41who loaded with 235 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 97 kilograms and arrested a suspect, Adam Zyivacro.
06:51This is even as operatives in Lagos raided the Asapa London area of Leckie where they arrested a suspect Jonathan Issa with different quantities of cocaine,
07:00methamphetamine, mollene, rohypnol, codeine, cannabis and nitrous oxide while another raid at Idison, Aleko, Abeju Leckie on Saturday the 24th of May
07:11led to the arrest of Olamileka Nodowu and seizure of 48 kilograms skunk.
