00:00What's up guys, EverythingApplePro here, and I've got the new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
00:05This thing is Samsung's vision reimagined, and it's now waterproof.
00:09It's got microSD removable memory, low-light camera that can take pictures in almost dark conditions.
00:15It's incredibly flat, and it's got a lot of great things going for it.
00:18But how's the durability?
00:19In this video, it's only natural that I'd want to test Samsung's new phone,
00:23pit it against the iPhone 6S Plus.
00:26This thing we've tested already, but as a point of reference, I thought it'd include them.
00:29So, Galaxy S7 Edge versus iPhone 6S Plus drop test in various conditions.
00:34Now, these things are both mad durable.
00:36The iPhone 6S Plus has aluminium 7000 and that new dual-ion exchange glass.
00:41We've tested it. It was durable.
00:43Galaxy S7, Gorilla Glass 4, and hardened aluminium on the edges.
00:47It exposes a lot of the glass. I'm a little worried about how it's going to fall.
00:51You know, there's a lot more exposure to sensitive materials on it.
00:54But that's what this video is for, right?
00:55We're going to test waist height, head height, and we're going to go above and beyond that
00:59and see what it really takes to destroy these things, put them out of their misery,
01:03how durable they're going to be in your day-to-day life.
01:05So, let's go ahead and pit these guys against each other
01:07and test the S7 Edge versus the iPhone 6S Plus in a durability drop test.
01:12In the past, Galaxy and Apple have been battling for as long as we know.
01:16In terms of durability, Galaxy's have always been very good
01:20and see if that continues nowadays.
01:23The design has changed a little bit. How's the durability?
01:26iPhone 6S Plus.
01:28Let's do this one first about waist high.
01:30You're taking it out of your pocket.
01:32The phone slips.
01:33Let's do a perfect side drop first in three, two, one.
01:38Nice little jump there.
01:45The material on the 6S Plus has always been very durable
01:49and there's a good dent in there.
01:54But if this was a 6 Plus, it would have been a lot more noticeable.
01:57That was a softer metal.
01:59Not bad.
02:00We're good.
02:01Same deal with the S7 Edge.
02:04This hurts.
02:04This hurts so bad because, you know, this is such a beautiful phone.
02:09But I want to know how durable it is.
02:10This is the only way.
02:12Waist high drop in three, two, one.
02:20Wow.
02:22Some of the water lodged in there from the water test just jumped out.
02:25And it looks good.
02:26So I've always noticed that with Samsungs,
02:29they're more resilient to scratches and dents.
02:31It's almost as if the material used is a lot tougher.
02:34But it looks good.
02:35It works fine.
02:37Let's do the back.
02:38Not too worried about the 6S Plus because, you know, there's no glass on it.
02:41Just the cover right here.
02:42Those do break once in a while if it lands right.
02:45But, you know, it's just, I don't know, the worst you'll get is scratches.
02:49Waist high.
02:50Rear impact.
02:51Three, two, one.
02:56Nothing to report.
02:58Just little scuffs and those aren't even that visible.
03:01Rear impact.
03:01Three, two, one.
03:03One, two, one.
03:07Wow.
03:08Okay.
03:08So still good.
03:09Starting to notice some scratches right here on the top of the glass.
03:15Otherwise, we're good.
03:16Same deal.
03:17On these precious, precious displays, beautiful AMOLED is about to say hello to the ground.
03:23First, though, the 6S Plus in three, two, one.
03:26Perfectly flat.
03:33Evenly distributed.
03:34We're good here.
03:35No issues.
03:37Definitely more glass exposure.
03:40I'm worried about this one.
03:41Three, two, one.
03:42Oh, we're good.
03:49So, again, a little scratch is starting to become visible.
03:56Otherwise, good.
03:57So, time to ramp it up to the head height.
03:59It's about five feet, I'd say.
04:01And drop these guys.
04:03Same deal.
04:04Now, I know the world doesn't talk on the phone anymore.
04:07It's all text nowadays.
04:08But say you are talking for a very long time.
04:11You just get tired and you got to let your phone go.
04:13Here it is.
04:14Head height, side impact on the 6S Plus.
04:17All right, so, more dents, more scuffs.
04:27Still usable display is good.
04:29Head height, S7 Edge.
04:31Three, two, one.
04:40Oh, that was quite the impact, too.
04:45So, we're good.
04:46It's still looking incredibly clean for the amount of abuse it's taken.
04:52All right.
04:53Oh, wow.
04:55Okay, I spoke too soon.
04:56So, there it is.
04:58The rear is cracked.
05:00Head height on the rear.
05:02You know, you have more glass on the phone, so there's a better chance that it will crack.
05:07But the important part is the front hasn't broke yet.
05:10Back impact, how much worse can it get?
05:12So, head height here.
05:15So, you're talking.
05:15And it falls.
05:17So, three, two, one.
05:22Activated some buttons right here.
05:24Camera.
05:25That's not broken.
05:26It's looking pretty good.
05:29Ooh.
05:30Ouch.
05:31You know, look at that.
05:33Spider webs everywhere.
05:34But it's actually surprisingly smooth.
05:37When the glass breaks, it doesn't jut out.
05:39It still holds in place very well.
05:42It's almost like safety glass.
05:44So, wow.
05:45Face down.
05:47Can it take the impact?
05:48Let's see.
05:49Unfortunately, the Gorilla didn't protect this guy.
05:52Let's do the front-facing test now.
05:53And this is almost certainly going to end in failure.
05:57So, let's do the iPhone first.
06:00Too much anticipation here.
06:01All right.
06:02Three, two, one.
06:07Wow.
06:09Scratch.
06:10Deep scratch in there.
06:12No crack.
06:13No crack.
06:13That's the best part.
06:15So, at this point, looking good.
06:18Let's do the same to S7 Edge.
06:21Here we go.
06:21This is it.
06:22Three, two, one.
06:26Wow.
06:27There's no way that survived.
06:30Oh, my goodness.
06:32You surprised me yet again, Samsung.
06:36Beautiful.
06:37So, no cracks.
06:39The back is starting to jut out a little bit.
06:43But, wow.
06:44Still usable.
06:45This is the most normal drop test.
06:47You're not going to usually drop your phone above five feet.
06:50And at this point, five feet, the iPhone 6S Plus looks miles better than the S7 Edge.
06:56But, the good news is the back plate is very cheap.
06:59You know, you can replace it for under $30.
07:01The front screen, though, you know, those are expensive and both are doing great.
07:05In terms of scratches, let's turn these guys off and take a look.
07:07Both are looking great.
07:09The iPhone 6S Plus isn't as good as scratch resistance.
07:12I'm seeing a lot of scratches right here, right here, up here.
07:15And I have seen none on this guy.
07:18So, very impressive scratch resistant on the Gorilla Glass 4.
07:23Let's up this and do a 10-foot drop.
07:2610 feet because tall people do exist.
07:30And a side impact, I'll try and land it on the side.
07:32It's kind of hard to do, but here we go.
07:35Three, two, one.
07:40So, from 10 feet, your headphone jack is bent.
07:43It's going to be very hard to put it in.
07:45Otherwise, not looking bad.
07:48The Galaxy S7 Edge, definitely worse for the wear.
07:51But this thing has a couple dents that are noticeable.
07:54Your headphone experience won't be as pleasant.
07:57But the display has survived.
07:59And that's the best part.
08:00So, to the S7 Edge.
08:02Two, one.
08:07Wow, so, I think I see the battery, the shape of it start to emerge.
08:12Pretty soon, it's going to pop out here.
08:16But it's a survivor.
08:17Not looking too bad.
08:18The actual metal, the scuffing.
08:21But this glass back, yeah.
08:23This is 10 feet, iPhone 6S Plus.
08:27Three, two, one.
08:33Still alive.
08:35That's a solid thunk, too.
08:37The S7 Edge, will it survive?
08:39I don't think so, but let's do the same deal.
08:41Face down, 10 feet, dropping in three, two, one.
08:45Oh, yeah, that's it.
08:52So, we've got LCD bleeding in there.
08:56It is still working, though.
08:57So, I guess that's the good news.
09:00Ouch.
09:01So, 10 feet.
09:04Which phone is going to survive?
09:05The iPhone 6S Plus.
09:07We've tested it many times in the durability drop tests.
09:10And every single time, it's impressed me with how durable it has been.
09:15Definitely, 6S Plus is the one that's looking better here.
09:18So, this is just to see, naked phones, which one is going to survive.
09:22And both did great.
09:23You know, if you're not going to be dropping it from 10 feet, your phone will survive.
09:27It'll do just fine.
09:28Of course, this guy has the advantage of being water resistant, waterproof.
09:33And I don't think that can be topped.
09:34So, let's see what it takes to completely destroy this guy and go up to 20 feet.
09:40Drop both of them.
09:41See which one will survive.
09:42Dropping in three, two, one.
09:51Both of these guys landed on their back.
09:54They did some aerodynamic skills.
09:56A lot of glass shards coming out of here.
09:59Redo face down.
10:01Three, two, one.
10:07Oh my goodness.
10:08The iPhone 6S Plus just refuses to die.
10:12It's actually bent like a banana a little bit right there.
10:17But the screen still hasn't broken on this guy.
10:21Still working.
10:22I just can't believe this.
10:23It's bent.
10:25But it still doesn't want to break.
10:26So, that doesn't speak miles about durability.
10:29I don't know what else will.
10:30So, there you have it.
10:31Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge versus iPhone 6S Plus.
10:36Both very durable.
10:37One, you know, survived far longer than the other.
10:41And the S7 Edge, the battery is loose inside.
10:43You can hear it shaking.
10:45You see a whole bunch of cracks.
10:47But it's still trooping on.
10:49It's going to be expensive to fix.
10:51But it does work.
10:52So, there you go guys.
10:53Thanks so much for watching.
10:54Be sure to check out the water test and actual comparison.
10:57Have a great day guys.
10:58Hope you enjoyed this video.
10:59Peace.
11:00Peace.
11:00Peace.
11:00Peace.
