00:00So, your thoughts on Thibodeau getting fired today.
00:03I just got Joe Ranieri's take on it.
00:06Are you surprised at all that a guy that goes to the playoffs four to five years,
00:11takes him to the Eastern Conference Finals,
00:13takes him to the Conference Semifinals, I think twice,
00:15wins 56% of his games, and they whacked him today, thanks for nothing?
00:20Yes, I am surprised, Scott.
00:22I know a lot of people might say, oh, I'm not.
00:23I personally am.
00:25I didn't see this coming.
00:26And it's funny because I saw the Kevin Durant rumors
00:29and, you know, obviously we're in a rumor season right now.
00:31So, there was talk of Kevin Durant to the Knicks potentially.
00:36And I was actually thinking about the Knicks this morning, Scott,
00:39before Thibodeau, like moments before Thibodeau got fired.
00:41It was bizarre.
00:42I was actually thinking, I was like, you know, how can the Knicks get better?
00:46I was like, you know, they just sort of need to tweak the roster a little bit.
00:50I don't know.
00:50And I was thinking, I don't know if Durant is the right guy personally,
00:54but the Knicks are pretty close right now.
00:56I think the Knicks thought, Scott, that, all right, let's say we tweak it,
01:01we bring in this guy, or we do this.
01:03Thibodeau will be the same coach.
01:05He's going to coach the same way with these guys, no matter who we bring in.
01:10I always trust the general manager and the people that are actually in the room.
01:14Remember the Malone stuff where it seemed surprising,
01:17but there was just so much, and, you know,
01:19it wasn't a healthy room to be in at the time.
01:22Maybe the Knicks just think, you know what,
01:24Timbs can't take us to the next level, right?
01:27He's just not this guy.
01:28He's not going to change in his ways ever.
01:30He's never going to adapt.
01:31He is who he is.
01:33So I guess that's what they're thinking.
01:35But, yeah, that surprised me, Scott.
01:37Do you think, you talk about Malone, we talked about Malone as well.
01:41Like, I've already heard his name within minutes,
01:44that they need someone that's done it, and he's done it.
01:49Do you think that's reality, that they would go after the guy that just got fired
01:53because all the players hated him because he was cussing them out?
01:57I think it's a big-time reality, Scott,
01:59and I think it's a big probably reason why they did this
02:02when they did it as quickly as they did.
02:04Malone's going to be a hot commodity.
02:06So you've got to believe that they're thinking, you know what,
02:08we've got Malone in our back pocket.
02:10He's going to take this job.
02:12We know he will.
02:13We also know other teams are going to be going after this dude.
02:15So let's not wait and go through another season
02:18if we know what we want to do here and bring Malone in.
02:21And the other name, Scott, which it'll be a lot of fun for people like you and me
02:24if it happens, is Jay Wright.
02:27I don't get the feeling that Jay Wright wants that pressure.
02:30He seems to be pretty happy on TV.
02:32He's got no pressure at all.
02:33He's already a multimillionaire.
02:35He's got nothing to prove in the basketball world.
02:37But, you know, basically, I can almost just picture the press conference now, Scott.
02:43I don't know about you.
02:44Jay Wright saying, you know, guys, I had a lot of chances to coach in the NBA,
02:49and I never did, but the fact that it's Jalen Brunson.
02:53You know what I'm saying?
02:54It's basically Villanova, right?
02:57I mean, without Dante right now, so you've got all these Nova dudes.
02:59What about Danny Hurley?
03:02I don't think – well, Hurley, God, man.
03:05I don't think Hurley – let's not go down that road.
03:08Why not?
03:08Do you even want Hurley?
03:09Hurley's a psychopath, bro.
03:11Do you imagine him as the coach at a Knicks?
03:13Dear God, his ego is big enough as it is.
03:17Well, I mean, the Lakers almost got him, and they couldn't seal the deal.
03:21He's an East Coast guy.
03:23He's a Jersey City guy.
03:25Well, that's the thing.
03:26He wouldn't have to leave anywhere, Scott.
03:29It's completely different.
03:30Going to the West Coast, to the Lakers, completely different world.
03:32It's like going to a different planet, if you're hurt.
03:35This is – I mean, he wouldn't have to move his house, technically.
03:39Like, you know what I mean?
03:40Honestly, people commute from Connecticut to New York all the time, rich people, right?
03:45He wouldn't have to move if he didn't really want to.
03:47He'd take a helicopter.
03:47Ubercopter.
03:48Yeah, exactly.
03:49The Ubercopter.
03:51Honestly, right to the West Side Highway.
03:54It's a good call, though.
03:55He wouldn't have to move.
03:56Like, it wouldn't uproot his life.
03:57Like you say, he's a Jersey guy.
03:59Knicks.
04:00Like, you know, so not a bad call.
04:01But – so that's what I'm saying, Scott.
04:03There's going to be a lot of names thrown out there.
04:04But as a betting man, and I'm sure the books are going to have this up momentarily,
04:08who's going to – the next coach is going to be.
04:10I'll say Malone, though.
04:11I think they think Malone – we're going to get Malone to be our guy.
04:14He won a title.
04:15He's a little bit more open-minded with, like, run and gun.
04:19And, you know, I thought maybe they didn't like the way he managed the roster
04:22and he ran the players into the ground.
