Majuli (Assam), June 3, 2025 (ANI)- Ferry services between Majuli and Nimatighat in Jorhat resumed today after a three-day suspension caused by the rising water level of the Brahmaputra River. The services were halted earlier this week due to safety concerns stemming from heavy currents and elevated water levels. Though Kamalabari Ghat to Nimatighat ferry services resumes today, Afalamukh Ghat and Nimatighat ferry services probably to resume from tomorrow. As of this morning, three ferries have been scheduled to operate from Majuli to Jorhat, allowing the transportation of passengers and two-wheelers. However, authorities have restricted the movement of four-wheelers due to ongoing strong currents in the river, prioritizing safety.Officials reported a slight decrease in the Brahmaputra’s water level today, which allowed for the cautious resumption of services. Despite the temporary relief, there remains a possibility of the water level rising again in the coming days, prompting continued monitoring by the Inland Water Transport Department.
