Annoncé comme équipier au départ, le jeune Mexicain de la formation UAE Team Emirates XRG a déjoué tous les pronostics en terminant 2e du classement général, derrière Simon Yates, après avoir porté le Maillot Rose jusqu'à la 20e étape. "Ce n’est jamais agréable de perdre le maillot, mais je dois faire preuve de maturité. Je dois utiliser ça pour revenir avec encore plus d’envie la prochaine fois et tout faire parfaitement", explique-t-il.
