01:29Let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go
01:59Good evening. 30-16 started off in the revamped format back in September and now only two remain.
02:09Will it be a fourth crown for Inter Milan or can PSG finally get their hands on the trophy they want the most?
02:15Highlights of the 2025 Champions League final are on the way.
02:19Across all the talking points, former Aston Villa and Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzelsberger,
02:24our Champions League analyst Nona Manua and European football expert Niki Bandini.
02:28So let's head to Munich, a youthful Paris side, hoping to become only the second French team to lift the trophy after Marseille way back in 1993
02:38against the experience of Inter, looking to go one better than they did two years ago and emulate Jose Mourinho's class of 2010.
02:46Your commentary team is Danny Murphy alongside Steve Wilson.
02:52For the 70th time, the European Cup is there to be won.
02:58And for the very first time in a competitive game, Paris Saint-Germain meet Inter Milan who are to be the new champions of Europe.
03:11Luis Enrique is hoping to be only the seventh coach to win the cup with different clubs.
03:16His one big question today was Barcola or Due and he's gone with Due.
03:22Part of a potentially devastating front three with Dembele and Carrad Scalier.
03:29For Inter, Benjamin Pavard starts.
03:31He's missed their last six games with an ankle injury but replaces Jan Bissek today in their back three.
03:37Lautaro Martinez carries so much Inter, hope on his shoulders.
03:41And this XI is the first in Champions League final history to feature three players aged 36 or more.
03:50Sommer, Acherbi and Mkhitaryan.
03:53Fabian Ruiz and the forward ball due with that little turn of pace, it's enough to unsettle Bastoni.
04:03And the free kick is given.
04:06Hands in the chest from Alessandro Bastoni.
04:10Thought he was a bit unlucky there Bastoni, referee gave it before the assistant who was right in front of it.
04:15And Vitinha is going to take the resulting free kick for Paris Saint-Germain.
04:23Marquinhos making the run and he nearly got there, Fabian Ruiz here.
04:29With a glancing touch from Acherbi, Vitinha carefully up towards Marquinhos again, he couldn't get over it.
04:36The first ball across was the more dangerous.
04:38So much quality in both the starting XI's from front to back.
04:50From back to front, you could say, with Donnarumma and Sommer in goal,
04:55who've both had exceptional seasons in this competition.
05:03Dembele, dangerous this.
05:08Nice and positive, driving inside on that left foot.
05:12Doesn't quite get a hold of it, but still have the confidence in that run.
05:22All right, Scalia.
05:24Fabian Ruiz.
05:27Oh, it's a lovely ball, it's Dewey, and Hakimi puts it in the back of the net.
05:31The man who used to play for Inter Milan strikes against them for Paris Saint-Germain.
05:44It's a great ball, Ashraf Hakimi.
05:471-0.
05:49Simply outstanding goal.
05:53Clever football, patient football.
05:55It's a phenomenal pass.
05:57Dwey doesn't panic.
06:00Could have been forgiven for trying to bend it into the corner himself.
06:03Sees Hakimi.
06:05What a brilliant decision to square that for Hakimi instead of getting carried away.
06:11Trying to score yourself.
06:12But Vecini's pass was just beautiful.
06:14Hakimi again.
06:17Just as he did in the semi-final against Arsenal.
06:25I think we'll see him to start going a bit more direct.
06:30Nuno Mendes under a bit of pressure from Denzil Dumfries.
06:36He's handled some brilliant right-sided forward players superbly this season.
06:40Nuno Mendes at left back for Paris Saint-Germain.
06:42But Denzil Dumfries is another tricky customer.
06:47We go with a good old long throw.
06:52William Pacho got a head on it.
06:53That'll be an inter-corner if Borelli gets his way.
06:57He's kept in play.
06:59We've seemed unlikely.
07:00Corazcalia forward.
07:02This could be trouble, you know, because it's Usman Dembele.
07:05Fabian Ruiz to his right-hand side.
07:07Good ball.
07:08That's a lovely ball for Desiree Dwey.
07:10And it's 2-0.
07:12Two inside 20 minutes.
07:18Paris Saint-Germain are ripping into a part in Munich.
07:24Hakimi Dwey.
07:272-0.
07:29It's another brilliant move.
07:32Started actually by a wonderful tackle.
07:34Dembele taking his time again.
07:38The composure to pick out Dwey.
07:42They get a bit of luck with the deflection, but DeMarco's got to get closer.
07:45He's got to get out to the ball and get a block.
07:48It's the fear.
07:49It's the fear of Dwey and his pace and his skill that keeps him deep.
07:52He's got to get out there.
07:56This final isn't completely done yet.
07:58But Inter are going to have to draw upon every sinew of their experience here.
08:05Yeah.
08:06They're in big trouble.
08:12Hakimi with a strange one.
08:13Donnarumma couldn't catch it.
08:14Klay continues to free to muscle Karatskelia out of it.
08:26And Inter have a corner.
08:27Which may not seem like much.
08:30But it's something they can cling to.
08:32They've had precious little so far.
08:40Corner kick.
08:41Whipped in the pace.
08:42And Acherbi over the top.
08:46For the goal he scored against Barcelona in the second leg of the semi-final,
08:49was his first in over a year.
08:52Comes off a chance.
08:53That's a great ball in.
08:54Good lead from Acherbi.
08:55Just can't keep it now.
08:59They are in a very tough place at the moment.
09:05Mantara Martinez.
09:08Varela.
09:12Now, Chan and Oli with a chance to cross.
09:14It was a good cross too.
09:16William Paco tits it behind for the corner.
09:21Beto for Mitsublan.
09:22A little bit of joy down that right outside again.
09:24Took a midfield runner.
09:25Chan and Oli getting in behind.
09:28A decent cross as well, good defending.
09:29Pacan and Chan and Oli with the corner kick.
09:32And Turam's header is only just wide.
09:34It's as close as they've come.
09:37It's a great ball in, and also terrific lead.
09:41Just can't direct it.
09:43Just can't direct it to Ram.
09:46It's unlucky.
09:50Couldn't have wished for a better performance in this first half.
09:53Luis Enrique, that's for sure.
09:55But it is only the first half of the final.
09:57It is.
10:00Maybe 30 seconds of this half to go.
10:02Karatskelia for DSG.
10:06Oh, beautifully done.
10:07Deflected.
10:08And that was not far away, and Jan Sommer just was a bit of a spectator here.
10:22Dembele's corner kick, the header is just over the top.
10:24Well, Karatskelia, it's a chance.
10:31The last chance of the first half.
10:38Kinos went looking for that, didn't get there.
10:40But, uh, João Neves did.
10:42Due into Dembele to Ruiz.
10:45Karatskelia.
10:48Well, it's off target.
10:49But that is what they can do.
10:54In a blink of an eye, they're on you.
10:59Pacho going to ground.
11:00Play on.
11:01Karatskelia here.
11:05And Ruiz.
11:07And Karatskelia, and wide.
11:09Oh.
11:10It probably shouldn't have been.
11:12He's disappointed, and rightly so.
11:16Inter Milan have a lot.
11:18They have to change.
11:20To have any chance of getting back into this final.
11:28Very good run, that Karatskelia.
11:29Got a little boot in.
11:30Hakimi.
11:30Brilliant.
11:31He's then in again.
11:35Duey went over.
11:36Cananolu were judged not to have fouled him.
11:39Soeski too.
11:40Cananolu, a little deflection on that cross makes it.
11:45Into Donnarumma territory.
11:48But Bissek after that tremendous run.
11:50He's down here.
11:54After the tackle, isn't it?
11:57Hobbling.
11:58Rather gingerly over to the far touchline.
12:01And his return is not a given at the moment.
12:04Hakimi.
12:04Oh, Duey magnificent.
12:08Hakimi.
12:09What?
12:09Gembele.
12:13Hakimi.
12:15Ooh.
12:16Corner.
12:18It is a corner.
12:19It would have been an absolutely magnificent goal.
12:22What a move.
12:24Hakimi's composure in the first place to get out of the predicament,
12:26but then you have the Duey little flick, pass around the corner.
12:35And Bissek is not coming back.
12:38That's really hard on him.
12:40Seven minutes.
12:41Yeah, that's tough.
12:45This game can really open up now, even more.
12:50Nothing on target in Inter's column.
12:53Oh, my.
12:55Back here is brilliant.
12:56Vicini from Dembele.
12:58Duey is with him.
12:59Duey.
13:01Brilliant.
13:05Desiree Duey makes it 3-0.
13:07Magnificent, magnifique.
13:13Paris Saint-Germain are on their way, surely,
13:16to be champions of Europe for the first time.
13:20Less than half an hour to play.
13:23And no way back for Inter.
13:27The composure from that young man, do he?
13:30He's now on a hat-trick in the final.
13:33He's 19.
13:34And Duey, no, surely not.
13:40Well, he's getting a standing ovation.
13:44I'm not sure what he makes of coming off on a hat-trick
13:47in the Champions League final.
13:49I'm so surprised.
13:51I feel for him.
13:53He looks fresh.
13:54He's full of confidence.
13:56I don't really understand that one.
13:59There it is.
14:00Barcola.
14:02Three in the middle.
14:04Oh, and it went right through Nuno Mendez.
14:06It's collected by Ruiz.
14:11A chirpy got a touch.
14:13And whacked over the top of the crossbar by Barcola.
14:18Better finishing.
14:19It could have been five by now, at least.
14:22It's going to be a long 18 minutes, 19 minutes for this Inter Milan team now.
14:28So much space out there.
14:31It's given away by Dembele, but one back superbly by Nuno Mendez, who then finds his man Dembele.
14:36Barcola is away.
14:39Bastoni won't catch him.
14:40Can he finish?
14:42Yes, he can.
14:42It's 4-0 in many ways.
14:48This final has been men against boys, and the boys are absolutely strolling it.
14:54It's a pleasure to be here to watch this team.
14:57It's been absolutely sensational.
14:59Every one of them.
15:01Marvellous way for them to cap.
15:03A brilliant season.
15:04That's too much to take.
15:10It's too much to bear.
15:14Barella.
15:16Away from William Paccio.
15:17Barella.
15:18And a chance.
15:19And a great save by Donnarumma.
15:22What a save, by the way.
15:23Turam denied.
15:27That Inter's first attempt on target in the game.
15:34Vitinha almost got it through to Dembele.
15:38Give Achebi some credit.
15:40Here's Barcola, though.
15:43They never stop coming.
15:45Bradley Barcola.
15:47Away from Achebi.
15:50He's missed.
15:53Would have been goal of the night.
15:54Tries to do him in the near post.
15:56Beautiful to watch, though, wasn't it?
16:02That takes some stopping this side.
16:04They're just going to get better.
16:07Probably add a bit more quality as well, if that's possible.
16:10Zaire Emery getting away from a tiring Barella.
16:16It's Barcola.
16:21Mayulu.
16:22Barcola.
16:23Send him Mayulu.
16:24It's five.
16:27Another 19-year-old on the score sheet.
16:30Wow.
16:31They're doing what they want.
16:32They're running right.
16:35Brilliant finish.
16:37Barcola instrumental again.
16:39What a moment for the young man.
16:44Paris Saint-Germain are the champions of Europe.
16:48And it wasn't even close.
16:53They have blown away into Milan.
16:56With a history-making scoreline.
16:59Luis Enrique and his brilliant team celebrate.
17:03as the final, the 70th European Cup final, finishes with its biggest ever margin of victory.
17:12PSG 5, Inter nil.
17:15And the skipper, Marquinhos, takes the trophy to his teammates.
17:27And a dream which became an obsession has become a reality.
17:32There's a new name on the old trophy.
17:36Paris Saint-Germain are the champions of Europe.
17:39Paris Saint-Germain are the champions of Europe.
17:41Paris Saint-Germain are the champions of Europe.
17:43Well, my feeling now is a feeling of joy.
17:49I think we play a really serious final against a very good Inter.
17:54But we press them all the time.
17:57We create chances from the beginning.
17:59We dominate the ball.
18:00And I think we deserve to win.
18:03I cannot imagine where I am now.
18:05But I just trust that everything is possible.
18:08So I'm Champions League winner.
18:11And I'm really happy.
18:12I'm really happy that I'm with these amazing guys.
18:14Amazing club, amazing coaches.
18:16I'm proud man today.
18:18This team, I think, before me, also deserve to be champion.
18:23But this is the football.
18:24There is hard moments that you have to pass.
18:28And we did it.
18:29It's not easy to win 5-0 against Inter in the final.
18:32So I think they deserved it before me, also.
18:35It means everything.
18:36It means everything to the fans.
18:38I think they are the main reason that we wanted to win this trophy.
18:45But we wanted to win this trophy for a lot of reasons.
18:48It's our dream.
18:49It's everyone's dream.
18:50It's my dream.
18:51And I'm glad we made it.
18:53It's incredible.
18:55The group of players, the team, it's a very good team.
18:58The result, it's not by magic.
19:01We are a very good team.
19:02And we are very, very happy that we did it like this.
19:04And now we're going to celebrate.
19:07What an incredible night for Paris Saint-Germain and their fans.
19:11They have waited for this one.
19:13Beaten finalists five years ago.
19:15This is the trophy they wanted.
19:18And they won it in style.
19:19The biggest winning margin in a Champions League final ever.
19:23And Luis Enrique now joining the pantheon of managers who've won multiple Champions League finals.
19:29Reactive Mars studio guests to come.
19:31But let's stay in Munich.
19:32Steve and Danny have been joined by Julien Laron.
19:36Yeah, pitch side here at the Allianz Arena after this historic evening.
19:40Julien Laron on one side.
19:42Danny Murphy on the other.
19:43We're closer than the game was, that's for sure.
19:45Julien's first here as a Paris Saint-Germain supporter.
19:49Let's forget your journalist hat.
19:52But as a fan, how are you feeling?
19:54Incredible.
19:55Really, I didn't think the game could turn out that way.
19:57We discussed it before with Danny as well.
20:00It's the greatest night this club has ever seen.
20:03The greatest performance that I probably have ever seen live either.
20:06And it's my team in a Champions League final with my sons in the stands.
20:10And it's just wonderful.
20:12I don't think he has sunk in just yet.
20:13And from a reporter's point of view, how impressive was that performance?
20:19Unbelievable.
20:20I mean, I know you can never control a game for 90 minutes,
20:22but that was pretty close of doing it.
20:25They could have scored more goals than five.
20:26They were the best in every compartment of this game.
20:29They were incredible.
20:30The ball, the way the ball moved, the movement, the pressing, the counter pressing.
20:35And yeah, Inter were really bad, but I think PSG made them look so bad.
20:38It was just almost the perfect performance, I thought.
20:41Danny, the maturity that they showed out,
20:43there with what is still a very young side that frighteningly probably is going to get better.
20:48There was so much to admire.
20:50You know, we talk about with and without the ball.
20:52The technical plan, which was the coach.
20:55The freedom to go and express themselves the way they did on the biggest stage of all is incredible.
21:00Individual talent.
21:01But the biggest thing with a group of young players is to see them work for each other as a collective like that,
21:06with the talent they have.
21:07It's scary for the other teams in Europe because this team is getting better.
21:12It really is.
21:13And they've got an amazing coach who demands the best from them.
21:16What we witnessed tonight was historic performance from a group of players who were on this journey together.
21:23And they have got some talent.
21:24There's so much to look forward to from this squad and it was a pleasure to watch that performance.
21:28As we were saying in the commentary, it is the biggest margin of victory ever in a European Cup or Champions League final.
21:35That's remarkable in itself.
21:39But it felt like something in this Champions League campaign clicked for PSG somewhere in the middle of the game against Manchester City.
21:47I agree with you completely.
21:48I spoke to Vitinha just before the final and that's exactly what he said.
21:51He said that second half after City went 2-0 up and PSG just turned the game around and changed it.
21:58That's when it all clicked.
22:00It had been a long time coming.
22:01There were some good things.
22:02They were doing positive things, but there was always something missing until that point.
22:06That second half, everything, just all those pieces in the jigsaw started fitted together in midfield, defensively,
22:13the two wide players and then Vaz Kelly arrived as well.
22:16Then Belli as a forced nine.
22:18Just everything started to click and after that, they never looked back really.
22:22And of course, Stadney, they sent the English contingent packing after Manchester City, Liverpool, Villa, Arsenal en route.
22:29But we've seen here tonight, you know, I think it would be churlish not to admit that Paris Saint-Germain have been in 2025 comfortably the best side in Europe.
22:38They have. They have.
22:39I think really I didn't sit up and take notice against City as much as everyone else because City were on a downward curve.
22:45But when they played Liverpool in the two games, I think most of us went, this is a really talented side.
22:51And of course, with young players, they grow with confidence.
22:54You know, the momentum started shifting towards them.
22:57Yes, they had 20 minutes of Villa, even moments against Arsenal where Donnarumma, yeah.
23:02And so that's normal because they're a young team.
23:04But that performance tonight on the biggest stage of all will give them so much belief and confidence.
23:11That's going to be a difficult trophy to get back.
23:13And very quickly and very finally, Jules, a wider point short, what does this do for French football as a whole?
23:20I think it was long due for French football to get another European Cup or Champions League 32 years after Marseille here in Munich.
23:27But at the other stadium and the Olympic Park, Olympic Stadium, it's great and PSG have been chasing it.
23:32This was the Holy Grail.
23:33Tonight was a meeting with history, really, and I'm so glad they achieved it the way they did.
23:37Magnifique. Merci beaucoup. Merci.
23:39And we'll get Julian down from the ceiling sometime before the beginning of next season.
23:45Try, if you can, Thomas, to put into words how impressed you were tonight by PSG.
23:49You have to get me down as well because I think this was perfection.
23:53It's, you know, not easy to say that for a team for 90 minutes, like Julian said.
23:57But this looked like perfection to me. We've seen PSG quite often this season.
24:02And it took them probably half of the season, Luis Enrique, to tell his star players they have to work for the team.
24:07Tonight, they have worked for each other.
24:10Their decision making, the awareness, everything was absolutely spot on.
24:13And before the game, of course, we weren't quite sure it's a young team.
24:16Are they really up for this at the highest stage final?
24:19Will the nerves play a role?
24:21But this team just played brilliantly and for the years to come, they're the ones to look out for.
24:26The biggest win in a Champions League final in history.
24:29And because of that, it looks very one-sided and we've had this debate.
24:33Can you say it was a great final if it wasn't a competitive one?
24:36But it was an entertaining final. What's your biggest takeaway?
24:39Yeah, I think it was an entertaining final, as you said.
24:41I think it's a final we'll remember because I think, as everyone's just been alluding to,
24:45we are going to look at this Paris Saint-Germain team.
24:47We're going to watch them over the next years continue to get better and better.
24:50And I think we're going to think about these as, I don't know, coming out moments for players like Desiree Dewey,
24:55announcing himself on the world stage.
24:56We knew he was good. We'd seen him be good in this tournament.
24:59But to be 19 years old, scoring twice and setting up another goal in a Champions League final is something else.
25:05And I think from PSG's point of view, it's clearly a historic moment.
25:10It's unfortunately slightly a historic moment for Inter as well, losing 5-0.
25:14They haven't lost a game by five goals in 25 years.
25:17So to do it in a Champions League final is not going to be forgotten quickly either.
25:20Yeah, we'll have a little chat about them shortly.
25:23But Nadam is at the screen looking at how PSG set the tone early on, Nadam.
25:29Yeah, thanks, Gabi.
25:31So this was a really, really impressive start to the game for Paris Saint-Germain.
25:34And they very much set the tone in a manner which made Inter really uncomfortable.
25:38And it's fair to say that throughout the game, Inter could never really adjust.
25:41And as we're going to see here now, it's the attackers for PSG that make the biggest difference.
25:46These are guys who are some of the best in terms of scoring goals.
25:48But look how hard they work.
25:49For Inter, they want to have a bit of time on the ball, be able to move it on a pose.
25:53But instead, you're seeing them working so, so hard.
25:55Always making sure you stay in the right position.
25:57You go to the right man. You apply the pressure as much as you can.
26:00Before you know it, the reward will be there.
26:02Maybe you can win the ball. Bang. Here it is.
26:05And I think the thing that's so impressive about PSG from my standpoint is that they were very consistent with this.
26:09They did not change the way that they played.
26:12Because they always sense there's a chance to win the ball back.
26:14And if you win the ball back in these areas, it's amazing the opportunities that can be created from it.
26:18Again here, there's a nice bit of play, but then they win it back.
26:21And they keep possession. Hakimi here, the right back.
26:23This is somebody that's going to end up scoring a goal here.
26:25He seems like he's in a very safe area.
26:27Seems like PSG have just got everything nice and calm.
26:29Just keep a bit of possession.
26:30But for what they do really well, is they find ways to inject energy.
26:34They can sense some space.
26:35And they also have the quality to be able to make a difference in these key areas.
26:38It's a great run by Douay. The ball goes to him.
26:40And Hakimi, the play we just saw in the corner, he's got a tap-in.
26:44The right back has got a tap-in in the centre of the field.
26:47This is the way that PSG play.
26:49And there's so much credit that needs to go towards them because,
26:52yes, they set the tone in terms of going out and trying to press.
26:55But best of all, it was always for a reason.
26:57And on this day, Inter Milan stood no chance because PSG's game plan was perfect.
27:01Yeah, it was flawless, wasn't it?
27:03And you're going to have a look, Thomas, at that first goal, Hakimi's goal,
27:06through the kind of lens of defence through Inter's eyes.
27:10Well, we will focus on Federico Di Marco because at the back five,
27:14they've been so solid all season.
27:16But tonight it started.
27:17When we see Di Marco here, he kept on looking over his left shoulder.
27:20He saw Dembélé and Hakimi.
27:22And of course, we all know how great these two players are.
27:24But he kept on looking over his left shoulder.
27:26And he forgot to see his teammates on his right.
27:29Because at some point, Achebe, he was pushing everyone up.
27:32Di Marco, he's so far back.
27:34Obviously, this is not an offside position, as we can all see.
27:37And then Hakimi, as we heard before from Nadem,
27:40this is a full-back who ends up scoring a goal in the box.
27:44And here we see again, obviously, everybody trying to push up.
27:47They're doing the right thing.
27:49But apart from only one player, Di Marco, who does not do that.
27:52But even the gap between Achebe and Benji Pavel is way too big.
27:56And Di Marco tried to recover.
27:58And it was all too late.
28:00And that's why Luis Enrique has got every reason to celebrate.
28:02And we've kind of waxed lyrical about the full-backs from PSG all season long,
28:07haven't we? But Hakimi personifies everything that is good
28:11and what Luis Enrique wants from his players in terms of his energies.
28:14His stats are incredible, aren't they, for a player in that position?
28:17He's had an astonishing tournament.
28:18He really has. Most touches of any player in the tournament,
28:20most chances created from open play, scoring a goal in the final,
28:24scoring a goal in the second leg of the semi-final and the quarter-final.
28:28You don't expect that from any player, let alone from a full-back.
28:31But, you know, Inter knew him.
28:33You see that non-celebration, I should say, after he scored the hands-up.
28:36Of course, he spent a year there, won the league under Antonio Conte,
28:39and he scored seven goals that season as well.
28:41So he's been doing this for a minute,
28:43but I think definitely he's almost a veteran in that young team.
28:46He's really stood out right back this season.
28:49And Nicky said before, Nadem, that Douai was kind of like tonight,
28:52was almost a coming of age.
28:53It was that he announced himself to the world if you hadn't already noticed him.
28:56And now he's the youngest player in Champions League history to score two goals in a final.
29:01There's a lot to be said about him. Try and kind of distill it down for us.
29:04Well, it's going to be very, very difficult to do that.
29:06But I think what I loved was the maturity in his performance.
29:09This is such a big stage. It's the Champions League final.
29:11And at 19 years of age, he played in a manner as if he's been for so many occasions already.
29:16I loved the patience that he had in certain areas.
29:18I loved the skill that he had.
29:19And I loved the desire that he had to go and try and make a difference for his side.
29:22As you saw throughout the game,
29:23there were so many opportunities where, firstly, he has to be in a defensive area.
29:26That's great. He understands the necessity for that.
29:29But it's the way he could read attacks, read the game, read the moment,
29:32understanding when to go all out, when to hold your position.
29:34Because this is really impressive for me, because he could just go centrally.
29:37But he understands that there's more space to that side.
29:39Ends up being a great ball across the room from Dembele.
29:42And he's got a bit of good fortune here with the shot.
29:44But, you know, five seconds earlier, he was in his own box, basically.
29:47And again, with this, it's the timing of the runs.
29:49It's the understanding of where to be.
29:51And then when you get the chance, can you go and try and affect play?
29:53Can you look for the right sort of pass? Of course he can.
29:55That's such a good ball.
29:57Most people don't even see that, let alone get the chance to play it.
30:00But it's a normal part for him.
30:01And the working hard nature is there again.
30:04And here, coming short, trying to link up on this bit of skill here.
30:07Ask yourself, have you done that before?
30:09Will you ever try that? Probably not.
30:11But it sets up this opportunity here.
30:13And this is giving it to Dembele, giving it to Hakimi,
30:14two key players again for Paris Saint-Germain throughout this entire run.
30:18And the quality that he shows, you know,
30:19he believes he should be here in these moments.
30:22And the way that he plays, you know, very much speaks for itself.
30:24I want to take issue with that there,
30:26because I think he has done that before and he will do it again.
30:28No, I said, would we do it?
30:29We've done it in training. We've done it in training, for sure.
30:32But the audacity to do it in a final.
30:34Yeah, but this is one of the fascinating things about him.
30:36He's obviously always been precocious.
30:38You hear about the story of when he first went to Wren as a kid.
30:40And actually, it was a trial for his older brother,
30:42but they saw him kicking a ball around.
30:44They were like, actually, we're interested in you as well.
30:46But you listen to his youth coaches at Wren.
30:48There was this one comment that stuck with me,
30:50which was saying that most players at that age,
30:53you know, they're interested in playing the ball.
30:54They're interested in how they're going to play the pass.
30:56And this coach was saying with Dewey, it was right away about the opponent.
31:00He was all about playing the opponent.
31:02I think you see it there.
31:02He has so much fun when he's out there.
31:04And I think that was what stood out for me in this final.
31:07Every time he gets the ball, he is ready to go at someone
31:09and put them on their back of their heels.
31:11And Kravitz Scalier, the January signing probably of history, maybe.
31:15We can debate that.
31:16But he is also another player that embodies and personifies
31:19everything that Enrique wants in terms of energy.
31:21All the great stuff going forwards, but the hard stuff going back as well.
31:24Absolutely. You just mentioned the January transfer window.
31:27This guy is proof that you can sign really good players in January.
31:30And he's also been so influential in getting this team up to where they are now.
31:35But of course, you'd expect a player of his quality to go forward and score goals.
31:38But his work rate today is just incredible.
31:41He's chasing Bissek down.
31:43Unfortunately, Bissek gets injured here.
31:45But he gets the ball, makes sure he wins the ball back.
31:48And of course, going forward, seen it over and over again.
31:51He makes that run, gets great ball in from Dembele and scores.
31:54But then again, this was the 3-0 for PSG.
31:58But he doesn't stop there.
31:59And that's what I mean.
32:00The front three, all of them, they keep working so hard.
32:03He keeps chasing Dumfries here, but he never lets go.
32:06He doesn't say to his teammates, you take over.
32:07And this is at 4-0.
32:08Yeah, it's at 4-0 already.
32:10And that's why you think, where has he got the energy from?
32:13Why does he not stop there?
32:14Why does he not tell his teammate to help him out?
32:16He wants to do it himself and this is the best example of any striker.
32:20He's not just there to score goals.
32:22He's the first line of defence and tonight was absolutely excellent.
32:25And he's done a quadruple this season because he's not just won the league in France,
32:29he's also won it in Italy with Napoli.
32:32So his winner's medal presumably is in the post.
32:34Yeah, it's extraordinary, isn't it?
32:3517 appearances for Napoli before he makes his switch across.
32:38And exactly as Thomas was just saying,
32:39I think he's just the perfect embodiment of what Luis Enrique wants from a player.
32:43The fact that he is tenacious enough to keep going even when the scores are 4-0.
32:47The fact that he is defending from the front.
32:49I think he's been the perfect example.
32:52I can't think of a better one if someone signed in mid-season and what they can do.
32:55And definitely a nice moment for him getting his goal as well.
32:58I was hearing his mum saying in the days before they had an interview with his mother
33:01and she was saying he didn't celebrate enough after the semi-final
33:04and she was annoyed at him for that.
33:05So hopefully this time he made sure he made the most of it.
33:08A word on Inter and where they go next.
33:11Because obviously Inzaghi has an aged group of players
33:14and it was all about the last chance saloon.
33:16And after that incredible match and the two legs against Barcelona,
33:20this is written in the stars.
33:21This is destiny for this group of players to get redemption
33:24after what happened to them two years ago.
33:25Because there was an inevitability that they're going to be disbanded
33:28and go on their way and they're going to have to regroup
33:30and either build again with Inzaghi or somebody else.
33:34Yeah, this is a real low, like I was saying before.
33:36I think it was actually the heaviest loss since 2001, so just under a quarter of a century.
33:41And we've been hearing in the days before this,
33:44Simone Inzaghi has got a pretty substantial offer from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia
33:48and it did cross my mind during this game.
33:49Is that in his head?
33:51Do I have the energy to come back and do it again?
33:53But it's crazy when you think about it.
33:55They had not in this whole tournament, they had trailed for a total of 16 minutes.
33:59And they played Barcelona over two legs.
34:01They played Bayern Munich over two legs.
34:02They played Manchester City and Arsenal in the group stage.
34:04This is not a bad team, but it feels like one right now because they have blown everything.
34:09They've blown the league title that was in their hands and they even had a chance to win
34:12on the penultimate round.
34:13They got clobbered in the Coppa Italia semi-final by a Milan team.
34:16They're rivals who are much worse than them.
34:19And it does feel a bit, unfortunately, that this season, a bit like Icarus,
34:23they went for everything.
34:24They flew for the sun and at the last minute the wax melted and they fell.
34:28And conversely, Luis Enrique's side have won everything.
34:32However, they have an easier league to navigate, you can argue, a league that were quite happy
34:36to move fixtures to make sure that their semi-finals were accommodated.
34:40And they won that league back in April as well.
34:43So, you know, the floor was set, wasn't it, in terms of the space they needed to prepare
34:48for this one.
34:49But, you know, that is taking absolutely nothing away from what Luis Enrique has achieved.
34:52No, not at all.
34:53But when you look at it, this young team, you know, for the next few years, you think if they
34:57stay together as a group, if they keep the hunger, they will be the team to beat.
35:00But, of course, they go home now.
35:02They'll have a break, some of them, or play the Club World Cup.
35:05But they'll get a break and see how they come back.
35:07You know, we can't, it's not guaranteed.
35:09Tonight was absolutely excellent.
35:11It was perfect.
35:12But, you know, there's a lot of talent there.
35:13Luis Enrique will get them going.
35:15And I'm sure the hunger will still be there from the owners.
35:17And the fans, the PSG fans, who we've mentioned so much through the season,
35:20produced the most incredible TIFO tonight.
35:22And I'm sure if you've been watching all season, you know the story of Luis Enrique losing
35:27his daughter, Zana, who was nine years old.
35:30And they planted a flag when Barcelona won the Champions League.
35:35And he talked about doing it tonight with her in his memory.
35:39And their fans have been fantastic, haven't they?
35:41Yeah, absolutely incredible.
35:42I think that's when you know you are part of that family.
35:44You are really part of that group.
35:45And obviously, it's a sad memory for him as such.
35:47But what a thing to sort of commemorate that moment.
35:50OK.
35:50Thank you so much, guys.
35:51For more reaction, head to the BBC Sport website and app and check out the Football Daily podcast.
