Shamli, Uttar Pradesh — A major tragedy was narrowly avoided on the Delhi-Saharanpur railway line after a 12-foot long iron pole and small stones were discovered lying on the track in Shamli district.
The alert train pilot spotted the obstruction in time and applied emergency brakes, successfully bringing the train to a halt. The train remained stationary for nearly an hour as authorities inspected the area.
Preliminary investigations are underway to determine whether the incident was an act of mischief or part of a larger conspiracy.
