00:00What does it say?
00:05Jesus told his disciples that he was leaving but was sending them the Holy Spirit.
00:11Their sorrow would turn to joy and peace because Jesus has overcome the world.
00:16What does it mean?
00:18Jesus continued to prepare the disciples for his departure.
00:22Even though he wouldn't physically be with them in the difficult days ahead,
00:26Jesus was sending a helper who would be with them always.
00:30The grief, confusion, and panic they would feel at his crucifixion
00:34would be transformed into a cause for joy at his resurrection.
00:39Though they wouldn't fully understand it at the time,
00:42his sacrifice on the cross completely defeated sin and death,
00:46overcoming anything the world could throw at them.
00:49Through the presence of the Holy Spirit,
00:51they would experience peace in a troubled and hostile world.
00:55How should I respond?
00:57When was the last time you said,
00:59I'm fine under the circumstances?
01:02Well, what in the world are you doing under there when you can live as an overcomer?
01:08The Lord is able to transform your sorrows into joy as you experience his presence
01:13and peace through the Holy Spirit.
01:16Have you asked God to remove some kind of sorrow?
01:19It seldom works that way.
01:21Just as labor pains become a reason for joy because they bring a baby into a family,
01:26trouble and heartache give birth to stronger faith and character in the life of an overcomer.
01:32Be aware of the presence of Jesus in the midst of today's trouble.
