00:00What Does It Say?
00:05Jesus spoke to his disciples about fruit-bearing, loving, suffering, and witnessing.
00:12What does it mean?
00:13To abide in Christ is to depend on him for life as a branch does a vine.
00:19It means staying close to Jesus by remaining in his word, obeying, and confessing sin through
00:25prayer.
00:25The believer who abides bears the fruit of Christ-like character and brings others to
00:31faith in Jesus.
00:32Other evidence of abiding in Christ is answered prayer, joy, and increased love for Jesus and
00:38other believers.
00:40The abiding disciple will also experience personal pruning in order to produce more fruit and
00:46much fruit.
00:48The world will reject those who abide in Christ just as it rejected the Lord Jesus.
00:53How should I respond?
00:55When teachers want to stress the importance of a topic, they use repetition.
01:01The word abide is used eleven times in this chapter.
01:05Did you get the message?
01:06Without abiding in Christ, you will accomplish nothing of eternal value.
01:12Abiding doesn't happen automatically or by accident, it's conscious work.
01:16What evidence of lasting fruit do you see in your life?
01:21Will you yield to God's pruning in order to increase your potential and give new direction
01:26for growth?
01:27When you decide to abide, you'll reap the benefits of a revitalized prayer life, along with deeper
01:33love and joy despite how others view and treat you.
