00:08all here today because of the action that happened in Ottawa right we know
00:13what cancer are we all familiar why we're here we're here because we wanna yes
00:20exactly so before we start the program we just want to gather like more in the
00:28middle so we all are situated thank you let's all be familiarized with the with
00:37the chants that we're all gonna use yes okay let's start with the one that we're
00:43all familiar with one two three look not even people do we see the cops that
00:49surrounds us we need to be louder that but this is a familiar chant within the
00:56Filipino community which is the one that we use in our joint actions about
01:04what happened are we all familiar with what happened in Ottawa this morning yes
01:11and we have 15 comments who's currently in jail right now in Ottawa the concept which
01:19is cancer that the largest war arms and weapons weapons trade that Canada is
01:25hosting annually every year and that is the role of Canada in maintaining the
01:31imperialist order shame I can't hear you shame so as we as we gather here all today as we gather
01:44all here today before we start our program we want to start we want to open this with a land
01:50acknowledgement before we get started we want to offer a land acknowledgement where we want to
01:58honor the land defenders across the Turtle Island we want to honor the indigenous siblings our comrades and
02:07friends in their ongoing resistance against the settler colonialism in Canada in so-called Canada today we know
02:17that what we are witnessing what we are witnessing what we have witnessed and seen in Ottawa is a grotesque
02:23display of Canadian military military militarism and we know that indigenous peoples in Turtle Island continues to
02:33experience the same repression to what we are seeing in Gaza today imperialism continues to commit to commit war and
02:45genocide against genocide against people here and across the world as cancer happened early this morning
02:51this is one this is one of the clearest manifestation explicit display of Canadian imperialism where it plays a
03:00crucial role in the sustenance of Israel's military industry they use they are exhibiting the same weapons the same weapons that are being
03:13displaced and trade displayed and trade displayed and traded at the concept this is what they use to suppress the
03:19indigenous communities here and across the world and as we begin this program we want to express the our glory to land
03:29defenders everywhere and glory to our people's struggles from Philippines from Palestine and to all other peoples who are ending their
03:40their oppression and their people the people's struggles against imperialism everywhere
03:46again let's continue the chant
03:48long live
03:50before we begin this program we have a following we have a following housekeeping rules as we begin the protest we
04:04we have trained marshals here as we can see the people who are wearing um
04:10vests not the other ones but the ones that are surrounding around us we have the trained marshals um
04:16and if there are any issues feel free to um talk to them let them know so if we have marshals around the
04:24area please raise your head and we want to ask our protesters to please not engage with the police and i and we all know
04:32that they are everywhere right now and this is how threatened they are
04:36and
04:40and if you have any concerns please go to our marshals who will let the police liaison know and we have asked
04:46them to not enter the perimeter of our protest and we want to remind um
04:52the policy of non-engagement when it comes to any of the instigators
04:58we want we want we want we do not want to divert whatever is happening
05:04because we want to focus on the action we want to focus on the messaging that we want to um
05:10get across for today's action and we have photographers um within the vicinity
05:16if you do not wish to be um recognized in photos we recommend for you to keep your masks on um
05:24um and yeah if you want to avoid pictures and we also have um media spokespeople
05:32to share our key demands and messaging for our today's protest
05:36and we have media inquiries please direct them to individuals
05:40okay so as i've mentioned we are all familiar why we are all here right
05:46because of cansec because of what happened in ottawa the 15 people who got arrested there
05:52and for context cansec again for those words still um coming in
05:58cansec is the largest largest arms and weapons trade in north america
06:04and we are allowing it to happen here
06:10the warmongers across north america is all coming into this place into in ottawa
06:16trying to talk about the arms and weapons that they are using
06:20to profit from the bloods of our people back home
06:26and when we talk about cansec we are here we are a grassroots alliance here
06:36um who formed a toronto against cancer committee
06:40where we have following organizations dedicated to shutting down
06:44uh cansec and not only this year but to stop from like for to stop cancer from happening for the upcoming years
06:52because why are we allowing this expo this fee this warmongering people to exhibit arms and weapons
07:00when it comes to like they are profiting from bloodsheds against people
07:06we are here today because we refuse to see another cancer conference to be hosted anywhere in canada
07:16as we are all here we stand united in opposition to cansec
07:22which is the largest weapons and military technology expo in north america
07:26where cansec represents the normalization and celebration of global warfare
07:33state violence and corporate profiteering from human suffering
07:38why are we allowing this are we gonna allow this even further for the upcoming years
07:45today this morning hundreds of people have showed up to shut down the biggest arms and weapons expo in north america
07:55and we want to commend our comrades who made efforts to wake up at 5 a.m. and went to ey center at 7 a.m. and the cops
08:05and the cops they sent at least hundreds of cops to harass the people who are opposing the upcoming cansec
08:15is that correct?
08:17indeed shame
08:19and this is annually hosted by so called canada and some of the people who attended this year the war machine expo
08:27some of them over 30 people of mps have attended the pansec
08:35the ministry this morning the ministry of arms and defense david mcguinty
08:45spoke about he spoke about rebuilding so-called canada's military budget budget to triple from the 2014 budget
08:51so that means he wants to invest for more money that goes towards war that commits genocide across the world is that correct?
09:07shame
09:09shame
09:10we all know how we struggle consistently living here in canada
09:13we all know that we are living currently in a living crisis
09:17we are struggling consistently from the continuous cutting of budgets when it comes to our social services
09:24when it comes to education healthcare housing and things that are needed by people
09:30and yet what is the priority for this government?
09:34it is to initiate more war!
09:36it is to initiate and feed the war machine!
09:39shame
09:40shame
09:41shame
09:42however this is clearly clearly the government's priority
09:46from municipal to federal
09:49and the increase of police budget
09:52military
09:54and being the annual host to cansec
09:57this is their priority
09:59shame
10:00shame
10:01shame
10:02and not so long ago
10:03we have seen the news
10:06all over the news
10:07the bubble zone
10:09are we all familiar with the bubble zone?
10:11yes
10:12we have seen every year the increase of police budgets
10:16the police budgets that allowed to have all this police across us
10:22to have an increase when it comes to their budget
10:25to police us here who are expressing our right to protest
10:30shame
10:31shame
10:32shame
10:33these weapons that are being exhibited are the ones that are being used to commit war crimes against our people
10:40from Palestine to the Philippines to Sudan to Congo Sri Lanka and all other countries under the boot of imperialism
10:46shame
10:49shame
10:50shame
10:51and again we just heard the city announcement of a bubble zone that restricts people to exercise our rights to protest
10:59our rights to exercise our freedom
11:02and several council
11:04um
11:05Toronto council have approved this
11:07shame
11:08shame
11:09and yet
11:10they are allowing this warmongering companies
11:14they are allowing this warmongering companies to be in one place in Ottawa
11:19to exchange
11:20to celebrate
11:21to celebrate their desire
11:24to have more increase of money towards imperialism
11:28again
11:29shame
11:30shame
11:31and this is what the role is for Canada in maintaining the imperialist order
11:36as a junior imperialist to the US
11:39shame
11:40shame
11:41shame
11:42and again we are all here because we will continue to refuse
11:45we will continue to refuse
11:47we will continue to refuse
11:48the
11:49I'm sorry

12:17um
12:18a shared recognition
12:19that CANSEC is a direct threat
12:21to our communities
12:22both here
12:23and across
12:24the globe
12:25the weapons that are sold for liberation
12:28and entrenched violence
12:29of policing, surveillance
12:31and incarceration
12:33and again we come here together across
12:35as diverse communities and struggles
12:38of migrant justice
12:40indigenous sovereignty
12:42climate justice
12:43anti-racism
12:44disarmament
12:45and more
12:46because we know
12:47that our liberation

13:03it is within our values
13:05our fight against militarism
13:12is a fight for safe
13:14livable futures

14:49the military spending
14:50from 2014
14:52levels
14:53by 2030
14:54this
14:55a great
14:57this intense
14:58use of public funds
15:00we
15:01want to ensure
15:02we
15:03want to ensure
15:04that we will not allow this
15:05our third demand
15:10is we demand
15:11an end
15:12to Canada's complicity
15:13in Israel's war crimes
15:15genocide
15:16and colonization
15:17of the Palestinian land
15:19as Canada continues to export
15:22to Israel
15:23at high levels
15:25last year
15:26Canada exported
15:27over 341
15:29million dollars

16:01to assault
16:02police officers
16:03we don't have anything
16:07and we are being told
16:08that we are disturbing
16:09peace
16:10shame
16:11shame
16:12shame
16:13again
16:14as we all familiarize
16:16with the chat
16:17we want to reiterate
16:18and we are here
16:19because
16:20with the ongoing genocide
16:22that's happening
16:23the arms and weapons
16:25yet again
16:26the ones
16:27that are being celebrated
16:28the ones
16:29that are being
16:30showcased
16:31at cancer
16:32are the ones
16:33that's being used
16:34against the current genocide
16:35that's happening
16:36in Palestine
16:37shame
16:38shame
16:39and of course
16:42to begin with the program
16:43we have a set of speakers
16:45who will be speaking
16:46from different communities
16:47from different backgrounds
16:48who will express
16:50why
16:51we are opposing
16:52the ongoing
16:53the
16:54CANSEC
16:55that happened this morning
16:56and I would like to call on
16:58Anak Bayan
16:59Toronto
17:00to begin and start us
17:01as we talk about
17:03the effect
17:05of CANSEC
17:06towards our people
17:09for those who are unfamiliar
17:11with Anak Bayan
17:12Anak Bayan
17:13is a youth organization
17:14fighting for the national
17:16democracy in the Philippines
17:18fighting for the rights
17:19and welfare
17:20of the Filipino people
17:21Filipino migrants
17:22Filipino youth
17:23here in Canada
17:24I'll give it off to
17:26warm and militant greetings
17:29everyone here
17:30I'm from Anak Bayan Toronto
17:33oh give me a second
17:34I turned off my phone
17:36alright
17:38I'm from Anak Bayan Toronto
17:40a Filipino youth organization
17:42fighting for national democracy
17:44in the Philippines
17:45today
17:46we join you
17:47in solidarity
17:48and in anger
17:49as we gather here
17:51to oppose CANSEC
17:52and its annual celebration
17:54of imperial warfare
17:56and call for its cancellation
17:58as a national democratic organization
18:00we recognize that our own struggles
18:04are situated in the struggle
18:07against U.S. imperialism
18:08and its many facets
18:10CANSEC
18:11as a representation
18:13of the Canadian military industry
18:15is a mechanism of imperial violence
18:18and cannot be allowed to continue
18:21as Filipinos
18:23we are no strangers
18:25to the violence of militarization
18:28our own people
18:30have faced down
18:31the barrel of a gun
18:32displaced
18:34and dispossessed
18:35of our ancestral lands
18:37for the sake of foreign business interests
18:40and the U.S. and Canadian military industries
18:46are central to this injustice
18:49with the Philippines being home
18:51to the largest number
18:52of overseas U.S. military bases
18:55in Southeast Asia
18:59these bases
19:00and the militaries they house
19:02serve to maintain
19:04the oppressive conditions
19:05of the Filipinos
19:06through feudalism
19:08imperialism
19:09and bureaucrat capitalism
19:11Canadian militarism
19:13in the Philippines
19:14specifically
19:15seeks to protect
19:16its numerous
19:17investments
19:18and mining operations
19:19that continue to exploit
19:21the land
19:22and the people
19:23while increasing
19:24its military presence
19:25in the Indo-Pacific region
19:27last year
19:31just last year
19:33Canada
19:34and the Philippines
19:35had concluded negotiations
19:37on the status
19:38of visiting forces agreement
19:39or SOVFA
19:41rather than the facade
19:43of these agreements
19:44being for diplomacy
19:45and for the good
19:47of the Filipino people
19:48these unequal trade agreements
19:51bypass the constitutional principles
19:54of the Philippines
19:55and undermine
19:57Philippine sovereignty
19:59increased militarization
20:00in the area
20:01leads to increased
20:02human rights abuses
20:04violence
20:05and environmental harm
20:07and submission
20:08to imperialist powers
20:10they are backed
20:12signed
20:13and nurtured
20:14by the corrupt
20:15government officials
20:16of the Philippine government
20:18like those
20:19of the current
20:20Marcos Junior
20:21administration
20:22and as the
20:24Filipino youth
20:25in the diaspora
20:26we recognize
20:27that the forced migration
20:29of our families
20:30are connected
20:31to the ongoing
20:32militarization
20:33and dispossession
20:34of our lands
20:35back home
20:36our home
20:40the Philippines
20:41is one of the most
20:42dangerous countries
20:43in the world
20:44to be a land defender
20:45activist
20:46or human rights advocate
20:48with so many
20:49being killed
20:50or persecuted
20:51by the state
20:52for the so-called crime
20:54of speaking out
20:55against the system
20:56shame
20:57and none
20:59of this violence
21:01could be done
21:02without the weapons
21:03developed
21:04produced
21:05and shipped
21:06by the U.S.
21:07and Canadian
21:08military industries
21:09amongst many others
21:10shame
21:11it is because
21:14it is because
21:15of the peddling
21:16of human lives
21:18rights
21:19and well-being
21:20that takes place
21:21in CANSEC
21:22and beyond
21:23that the rights
21:24of people
21:25in my country
21:26are being stripped away
21:27why billions
21:28around the world
21:29live without
21:30food security
21:31without access
21:32to healthcare
21:33or without a roof
21:35over their heads
21:36it is because
21:37of this industry's
21:38war profiteering
21:39that Filipinos
21:40are forced
21:41forced
21:42in our thousands
21:43to leave our homeland
21:44every single day
21:46why thousands
21:47leave their families
21:48and livelihoods
21:49to be exploited
21:50in countries
21:51like Canada
21:52and the United States
21:53and why millions
21:54still
21:55are exploited
21:56back home
21:57shame
21:58it is because
22:00of the genocidal
22:01capitalist ruling class
22:03that hundreds
22:04of thousands
22:05die every year
22:06to military conflict
22:08why countless
22:09are being murdered
22:10every day
22:11around the world
22:12from Palestine
22:13to Sudan
22:14to the Philippines
22:15shame
22:17shame
22:18in this era
22:19of ever-increasing
22:20militarism
22:21where people
22:22across the world
22:23are being sacrificed
22:24for the enrichment
22:25of the few
22:26we must
22:27shut down CANSEC
22:29wherever we are
22:30denounce
22:31and disallow
22:32unequal trade
22:34and military agreements
22:35like the SOVFA
22:37and continue
22:38to oppose
22:39and expose
22:40corrupt governments
22:42like the US-backed
22:43Marcos Junior Regime
22:45let us call
22:46on the revolutionary history
22:48of our people
22:49on the revolutionary history
22:51of the present
22:52and never cease
22:53to agitate
22:54organize
22:55and mobilize
22:56for the futures
22:57of our people
22:58our loved ones
22:59and our very own
23:00and so
23:05we at Anak Bayan
23:07stand with everybody here
23:09to vehemently
23:10oppose
23:11CANSEC
23:12and the perpetuation
23:13and glorification
23:14of imperialist violence
23:16that it represents
23:17we oppose
23:18the endless violence
23:20militarization
23:21and killings
23:22brought about
23:23by this industry
23:24and until the day

24:03how
24:04Canada's role
24:05when it comes
24:06to the manifest
24:07how Canada manifest
24:09imperialism
24:10towards the Philippines

24:54Phil
24:55from CPCML
24:56who will read
24:57a speech
24:58and again
24:59for those who are not familiar
25:00CPCML
25:01is the
25:02Communist Party of Canada
25:03Marxist-Leninist
25:05Thank you very much
25:08I was one of the people
25:09that participated
25:10in the
25:11uh
25:12the action
25:13at CANSAC
25:14this morning
25:15with a
25:16I see a number of other people here
25:17who also were there
25:18I think that
25:19when I was
25:20going to Ottawa
25:22yesterday
25:23a friend of mine
25:24was sending me information
25:25about the action
25:26that took place
25:27to protest
25:28the
25:29uh
25:30Zionist
25:31former
25:32minister to the United Nations
25:34and
25:35the
25:36the resistance that took place there
25:37and I all
25:38and I thought
25:39that
25:40the people that stood up
25:41yesterday
25:42against that
25:43against that
25:44abomination
25:46against that
25:47that injustice
25:48they were
25:49they represented the finest things
25:51about Torontonians
25:53the finest qualities
25:55the quality
25:56and it was that act
25:57that dignified
25:58that was such
25:59so dignified
26:00and gives honor
26:02to being a Torontonian
26:03and the same thing happened today
26:08this morning
26:09uh
26:10at the CANSAC
26:11they were about
26:12I think they were
26:13at least I counted
26:14about 600 people
26:15uh
26:16almost twice the number of people
26:17that some of the organizers
26:18were expecting
26:19they were from all walks of life
26:22again
26:23the issue of
26:24of Palestine
26:25and the heroic resistance
26:27and the heroic resistance
26:28of the Palestinian people
26:29were front and center
26:30of the
26:31of the battle there
26:32um
26:33and other speakers have spoken
26:35about the fact that
26:36um
26:37CANSAC
26:38is the largest arms fair
26:40in North America
26:42and there were many weapons dealers there
26:44uh
26:45Albert
26:46uh the Zionist
26:47uh
26:48largest Zionist
26:49arms producer was there
26:50and the whole
26:51and they were ministers
26:52they were there
26:53and the whole thing was to create
26:55um
26:56business
26:57of war
26:59and weapons
27:00and killing
27:01and the fact that we were there
27:05protesting
27:06CANSAC
27:07demanding that CANSAC be
27:09uh
27:10dismantled
27:11that Canada stand for peace
27:13that the genocide against the Palestinian people be ended
27:17these were all the demands of the people
27:20and this is what we will amplify in the time to come
27:24because it is us
27:25it's us
27:26in our own organizing
27:28that's going to determine
27:29and then to CANSAC
27:30the
27:31to appeal
27:32to these ministers
27:33to
27:34to be just
27:35to appeal to them
27:37to uh
27:38stop
27:39the brutality and violence
27:40you know
27:41it's
27:42I think it's good to say that
27:44but
27:45it depends on our own organizing
27:46for an anti-war government in Canada
27:48that's going to put an end to this
27:50that's important
27:51I also want to say that
27:53the police attack
27:55on the protesters came
27:57towards the end
27:58when
27:59almost half the people were leaving
28:01it was then
28:02that the brutality took place
28:04and it was
28:05it was
28:07it was
28:08it was
28:09from my perspective
28:10I watched this
28:11this
28:12and it was clear
28:13it was aimed to terrorize the people
28:15shame
28:16for taking a stand against
28:17war
28:18imperialism
28:19and the genocide in Gaza
28:20shame
28:21shame
28:22shame
28:24I've got a few points I want to make
28:26we are here to demand
28:29an immediate end
28:30to the arms embargo
28:32to end the military exports to Israel
28:34and to U.S. for use in the U.S. Israeli Zionist genocide against the Palestinian people
28:41we condemn the Canadian government for its complicity and failure to uphold international law
28:47and hold Israel to account for the occupation and seas of Gaza
28:51and the participation of the Minister of Defence and other Canadian officials at CANSAC
28:56now
28:57they were not just there
28:58they were there to promote
29:00and to get
29:01people to buy
29:03weapons manufactured in Canada and other places
29:06shame
29:08the imperial powers led by the U.S. and NATO aggressive alliance
29:12use war and threats of war against countries and peoples that are defending their independence and their right to be
29:19as in the case of the Philippines
29:21as in the case of the heroic Palestinian people
29:25to fool people they tell us that Canada faces threats from China from Russia
29:31these countries have never threatened Canada
29:34this idea of a threat is created so that more money can be taken from social programs
29:41and sent into military and arms production
29:44shame
29:48Canadians want Canada to be a force for peace in the world
29:51and they do not support the efforts of the so-called defense industry
29:55and the warmongering of Carney and his cabinet
29:58the Carney liberal government is a war government
30:03have promised to increase Canada's military spending on NATO and its participation to re-arm Europe
30:10over 600 people militantly protested CANSAC this morning in Ottawa
30:15reaffirming that Canadians and Quebecers will not be silent
30:20and will continue to oppose Canada's participation in wars of aggression
30:25and stand with the Palestinian people
30:28and all the fighting peoples of the world
30:30to demand an anti-imperialist war and aggression and plunder
30:34Canada, get out of NATO and NORAD
30:38Canada, get out of NATO and NORAD
30:42End Canada's complicity in the U.S. Israeli genocide in Gaza
30:48Thank you
30:53Thank you CPCML for the speech
30:57and for exposing the role of Canadian state towards the people
31:02the oppression that is happening across the globe
31:07and the role of the Canadian state in this violence that we are seeing
31:11Shame!
31:13Shame!
31:14Shame!
31:15And I would like to call on to our next speaker
31:18from ILPS
31:21which is the International League of People's Struggle
31:24to read a statement on why they are opposing CANSAC
31:28and I'll give it off to Min
31:30I'll give it off to Min
31:35Alright, thank you
31:37Cool
31:38So, today the world's biggest war mongers
31:42start descending on Ottawa's EY Center
31:44today and tomorrow for the annual CANSAC convention
31:47billed as Canada's premier defense and security trade show
31:51hosted annually since 1998
31:53by the Canadian Association of Defense and Security Industries, CADSEA
31:57CANSAC has become a magnet for the most powerful and profitable players in the weapons industry
32:02This year, CANSAC is featuring over 200 exhibitors
32:06280 exhibitors
32:07including major giants such as Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and General Dynamics BAE Systems
32:13These firms are deeply implicated in wars, occupations and repression
32:18from Palestine to the Philippines
32:20Over 50 international delegations are also participating
32:23While CADSEA does not make the names of its delegations public
32:27its statistics proudly highlight the influence of CANSAC's attendees
32:31According to the organization, 81% of CANSAC attendees have purchasing power
32:37and over 78% of attendees are top-level executives
32:41This raises serious concerns that CANSAC is a ground zero for facilitating human rights violations globally
32:48This year's CANSAC takes place against the backdrop of the ongoing genocide in Gaza
32:55As of May 2025, Israel's assault in Gaza has continued for 20 consecutive months
33:01By now, over 55,000 Palestinians have been killed
33:04with major human rights organizations such as Amnesty International
33:08and the United Nations having accused Israel of committing war crimes
33:11Yet, CANSAC features numerous companies who are complicit in the genocide
33:16including Elbit Systems, Israel's largest weapons manufacturer
33:21Boeing, Lockheed Martin and software companies such as Google and Microsoft
33:25complicit in the genocide by using AI-driven mass surveillance
33:29predictive policing and facial recognition
33:32All of which are tools used to identify, target and monitor Palestinians
33:36Canada is no exception to the global arms industry
33:41helping to facilitate the global arms trade and complicity in the genocide in Gaza
33:45According to Global Affairs Canada's 2023 export report
33:50Canada sent over 2.1 billion in military goods abroad
33:54of which 30 million were exported to the state of Israel
33:58Shame!
34:00In fact, Canada has become the second largest arms exporter to the Middle East after the United States
34:07largely due to its arms exports to Saudi Arabia
34:11amounting to over 904 million or 44% of the total by value
34:17Shame!
34:19Critics point out that Canada's arms exports routinely violate its obligations under the Arms Trade Treaty, ATT
34:27which prohibits arms transfers when there is a substantial risk
34:30they could be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian or human rights law
34:38Despite a non-binding motion passed by Parliament in March 2024 calling for an end to arms exports to Israel
34:44Canadian officials have continued to approve licenses under existing contracts
34:49Shame!
34:51Even with a popular movement from the Canadian public calling for an arms embargo to Israel
34:55This means, in practice, that the flow of Canadian military components to arm the genocide has remained uninterrupted
35:02Additionally, Canada's arms control regime leaves the flow of weapons to the U.S. unregulated, unreported, and without human rights evaluations
35:12This leaves a loophole where additional Canadian weapons are exported to Israel via the U.S. without the Canadian public knowing about these deals
35:20Shame!
35:22Shame!
35:25In response, grassroots opposition to CANSEC is building
35:29So, in Ottawa, there is a shutdown CANSEC coalition
35:32Here, we have Toronto against CANSEC
35:34And there are also rallies all across Canada
35:37Protesters are demanding the immediate cancellation of CANSEC
35:41An end to all arms exports to Israel and other human rights violators
35:45And the redirection of public funds towards health care, housing, education, and climate justice
35:50Not war!
35:52A mass movement to call for the end of genocide and war profiteering is now, more than ever, necessary
35:58We must not let war profiteers, who profit off the misery of millions in the global south, get away with their crimes
36:05Let us come together again this year to expose Canadian imperialism
36:08And to show that the people united want a collective and liberated future free from the imperialist arms trade
36:15The League of people struggle
36:18And again, I've mentioned that we have different communities
36:22We have different groups who have joined us today
36:25From the different perspective of people resisting the ongoing imperialist agenda
36:32That is not just the US, but also Canada
36:36And I would like to call on the Canadian Federation of Students
36:40To speak on behalf of the student perspective
36:43And why they're opposing CANSEC
36:51As the Canadian Federation of Students, Ontario
36:54Representing over 350,000 students across the province
37:00We oppose, firmly, the CANSEC Armed Expo
37:04And stand in solidarity with all those who are organizing against war profiteering
37:09As students organizing for a free and accessible education system
37:14We know, first hand, that any money that goes to funding genocide, weapons manufacturing companies, and mass displacement efforts
37:24Has no room in our future
37:26Our institutions are using our tuition money to fund the war machine
37:32At the very expense of the post-secondary education sector
37:36SHAY! SHAY!
37:39As students living in the imperial core, CANSEC is one of the most explicit expressions of an imperialist system that profits from war
37:49While we struggle to pay our rent, to find the money to eat, or access critical services
37:55And experience rampant program cuts in our own institutions
37:59We observe an increase in the budget allocated to policing, militarization, and the suppression of student voices
38:08SHAME! SHAME!
38:10It is clear that the priority of the government lies not with the students
38:17And it will never lie with the voices of the majority
38:22SHAME! SHAME!
38:24The arms and weapons that are being showcased at CANSEC are used to perpetrate violence against people both here in so-called Canada and across the globe
38:35SHAME! SHAME!
38:37We remain committed to supporting and standing in solidarity with movements fighting against the imperialist agenda
38:46From Lockheed Martin to Raytheon, CANSEC brings together companies that profit off of genocide, displacement, and global repression
38:56With the full backing of the state
38:59SHAME! SHAME!
39:01SHAME! SHAME!
39:03The war industry extends its roots deep into our campuses
39:07From corporate partnerships to donations tied to weapons manufacturing
39:12While we are experiencing a manufactured cost-of-living crisis
39:17Our institutions are actively fueling the war machine across the globe
39:23And are manufacturing students' consent by using our tuition money to fund these atrocities
39:31SHAME! SHAME!
39:34We know that students have always maintained a firm stance against the imperial war machine
39:40And right now, students continue to be under attack from rising costs, campus policing, and political repression for organizing
39:49SHAME! SHAME!
39:5115 people were arrested in Ottawa for shutting down CANSEC
39:55SHAME! SHAME!
39:57At the same time, we are seeing increased policing and security on our campuses as a response to student organizing
40:05SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
40:08We reiterate our rejection of a profit-driven education system and government that invests into the war machine
40:16And remain in full solidarity with all movements resisting imperialism
40:21Thank you CFS Ontario for providing that powerful speech
40:25For providing the student perspective
40:28For providing and exposing the role of the Canadian state
40:33Again, the students' demand is to disclose and divest from this arms manufacturing company
40:40From the military-industrial complex
40:42And for that we say to our next speaker
40:46I call on to the Canada-Philippine Solidarity Organization
40:52Who will be speaking
40:53In behalf of the role of a Canadian
40:57Who's in solidarity
40:59With the Filipino people
41:01And in solidarity with the oppressed people across the world
41:05I'll give it off to Ryan
41:07Hello
41:09Great to see so many people braving the delightful Ontario Spring
41:15Oh yeah
41:17Canada-Philippines Solidarity Organization
41:21Is proud to join fellow organizers in the Toronto against CANSEC committee
41:26Opposing the brutality, imperialism, and war profiteering that CANSEC facilitates every year
41:33This morning, our comrades took to the streets in Ottawa
41:37And stood against the assault of armed police
41:39Who protected politicians and profiteers making their way into the arms fair
41:45And we stand now to salute their defiance
41:48Let's hear a round of applause for the people in Ottawa
41:51CPSO exists to support and build solidarity for the struggle for national democracy in the Philippines
41:59With that mandate, we have the imperative to expose Canadian complicity in the suppression of Filipino people's struggle
42:08For genuine democracy and the violation of human rights committed by the Filipino government
42:14Supported by governments like Canada's
42:17In the name of
42:23In the name of anti-terrorism and a war on drugs
42:28Countless numbers of Filipinos have been victims of extrajudicial killing, kidnapping, torture, collective punishments, and other atrocious violations of international human law
42:41Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame! W-Shame
43:11signed in March of this year, would allow Canadian military to be stationed at bases
43:16in the Philippines.
43:17The presence of foreign military in the Philippines results not only in environmental destruction,
43:24but also the direct targeted harassment, murder, and sexual violence against the Filipino people.
43:32Shame!
43:34The Visiting Forces Agreement advances Canada and its NATO allies' encroachment into the
43:40Indo-Pacific region.
43:43Nations like the Philippines are used on the one hand as pawns in warmongering against
43:47China and on the other as exploitable lands rich in mineral and agricultural wealth as
43:53well as valuable human labor.
43:56Deepened relations between imperial and imperialized nations will only result in further suppression
44:02of human rights and freedoms.
44:05Shame!
44:07The same weapons advertised and sold at CANSEC are used against Filipinos, Palestinians,
44:14and other oppressed peoples around the world who stand for freedom, even in the face of
44:19the barrel of a gun.
44:20We have a duty to stand up against the regimes of war criminals.
44:24shut down CANSEC, fearless struggle of the Filipino people, and long live international solidarity.
44:32Thank you Ryan, and thank you to everyone who's braving this reign.
44:37Thank you for standing in solidarity with all the oppressed peoples who's being victimized
44:43with all these warmongering companies who are representing their currently at the EY Center.
44:52Let's give a round of applause for ourselves who are here today braving the reign.
44:59I would like to call on Yousef next to speak on behalf of the Young Communist League.
45:05Hello everybody.
45:14So as we already know, CANSEC is the largest military expo in North America.
45:19And what did they tell us about the military?
45:21The military is here to protect us, to safeguard national interests, all of that drivel they
45:27give us.
45:28But whenever the people here in Canada try to express their will, what happens?
45:32The military is used against them.
45:33It's almost as if the military does not exist to protect you, but to protect corporate interests.
45:38And that is what we as young communists, and I'm sure you all understand, that the military
45:44in the imperialist corps exists to extract the raw resources from the imperialized countries
45:50for the benefit of the international bourgeoisie.
45:54And that is what we are fighting against here.
45:57To fight against our military industrial complex, to oppose CANSEC is the duty of every single
46:03Canadian who has any empathy in his heart whatsoever, who is opposed to the murder and genocide and
46:09the violations of human rights that Canada has been doing abroad since its existence.
46:14This military industrial complex has always been exploiting us, it has always been exploiting
46:19students and workers, and the vast majority of every single Canadian.
46:24So, that is why we are gathered here today, and we will continue to fight against it, because
46:29as we know, the people united will never be defeated.
46:34No war of a class war!
46:35No war of a class war!
46:36No war of a class war!
46:37No war of a class war!
46:39Indeed, happening in Ottawa.
46:41It is over 50-plus international delegations, and it also includes over 30 MPs who's participating
46:53in CANSEC.
46:54I don't think we are loud enough...
46:59SHAME!
47:00These people are prioritizing war over people.
47:06For that we say, SHAME!
47:08SHAME!
47:10As we are struggling every day, these people are prioritizing bloodshed across the world.
47:18SHAME!
47:19SHAME!
47:20And as we gather here today, look how many police, how many cops are surrounding us as we peacefully protest against the arms and weapons trade show that's happening in Ottawa.
47:36Shame!
47:38And until today, CAD-C or CANSEC hides over 50 plus international delegations attending.
47:45And this is a futile attempt to protect their interest and they don't want the delegation to be known for the public to critique and agitate on.
47:56And as we are reaching the end of the program, let us all remember the people who are gathering all there today are part of the same system, part of the same institutions, part of the same government
48:12who are maintaining the imperialist order, both as the U.S. number one imperialist and Canada being the junior imperialist,
48:24who are collaborating in maintaining that imperialist order.
48:28Shame!
48:29Shame!
48:30This, as we gather here today talking about CANSEC, this is only the beginning.
48:35Our goal is to end, to end CANSEC in being hosted in Ottawa and for the upcoming years.
48:45So, we are all here today as organizations, as grassroots organizations, to be united and to carry and continue in carrying the momentum to stop that imperialist agenda.
48:59Yes?
49:00Yes!
49:00CanSEC, there is also an upcoming G7.
49:08Are we all familiar with G7?
49:10Yes!
49:10Yes!
49:11These seven countries are gathering soon, next month, in Calgary to speak and to be wishing, to be touching elbows and to be collaborating in maintaining that imperialist order.
49:28Trump is coming here, Trump is coming here to Canada.

50:20We will continue to expose the arms trade for what it is, a war machine that continues to maintain this broken society where the few dominate and oppress the many.
50:32And we want to thank the organizations who have joined us here today, the people who spoke, coming from different perspectives, providing those perspectives on how CANSEC and this arms and trade weapons are continuing to commit bloodsheds, continuing to invest towards war, and we will continue to carry on this momentum.
