Joe Buck takes a look at his Newcastle United 2024/25 player ratings. This time, he analyses the goalkeepers to see how Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak, Will Osula, Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes compare.

00:00it's now time for my striker player ratings of course as always if you haven't seen my goalkeeper

00:07defender or midfielder ratings please do check out that on the shields gazette website and on

00:13our social media channels and i've gone through my rate player into goalkeepers defenders and

00:18midfielders in the past and now it's time for the forwards and of course there's one star man

00:23man will get onto him but as always i rank them from my lowest player rating to my highest so

00:28we'll start off with the four out of ten which is callum wilson now i do feel really bad about

00:33this if you for me if you rate his entire newcastle united career take out the injuries

00:37callum wilson's been one of the best players of the last five years you know for a long time he was

00:42along with alan st maxman the only reason to watch newcastle united but this year and over the last

00:47two years really but specifically this year it just hasn't hasn't worked out from the injuries

00:51have played a really big part of course he's gonna he ended the season without a premier league goal

00:55he only scored one in any competition that was a a tap-in against birmingham city in the fa cup

01:00and yeah it feels really harsh to give him a four out of ten but it just hasn't worked when he's had

01:04the time on the pitch he hasn't really got into any game of course he had a start against liverpool

01:10and arsenal away from home which are very difficult starts for him but he didn't impact them games

01:15at all really and had to play behind alexander isak and most of the season so it is harsh to give him

01:20a four out of ten but i don't think he can give canon wilson any higher than a four out of ten

01:24for this season moving up just slightly little is to willis sulla who gets a five out of ten

01:29again some people might think this is harsh he's barely had the time on the pitch but

01:33for me as newcastle's only signing last year or main you know signing of course they'd sign

01:39vlacadimos for money that we all know that was part of the psr deal and of course loy kelly joined

01:43and then on a free and then left from uventus so sulla's the only outfield player they signed last year

01:47still at the club i did want a little bit more from him i think that he has shone he has looked

01:53good in games i think especially against lower league opposition bromley and birmingham city

01:56for example they look very good and of course he did score a really good goal um for his first

02:02premier league goal against ipswich town but other than that he has i think struggled to to really

02:08stamp his authority on games i don't get me wrong he's still young got a lot of learning hopefully with

02:11a whole pre-season another pre-season behind him then next year he can really hit the ground

02:16but for me i don't think you get a five out of ten more than a five out of ten sorry especially

02:20when you consider the um the options to come and that moves us on to anthony gordon a six out of ten

02:26um yeah gordon really good last two seasons ago last year unbelievable you know newcastle's player

02:32of the season and i think he gets a six out of ten this year purely because of his high standards and

02:36he's just dropped them high you know he hasn't hit them high standards therefore he gives himself a

02:40lower mark but he was really good in that period when newcastle were very good um around christmas

02:46um as part of the front three you know with him isaac and murphy was a brilliant front three and

02:51i think that probably is easy to forget that period of time but since then you've obviously had the

02:56red card the injuries you know not being able to get himself back into the team and then when he has

03:00i don't think he can say he's really impressed too much i don't think he's really stamped his

03:05authority and made the mark and you know he's not one of the first names on the team sheet anymore

03:10like he was last year that might change come august but right now i do think anthony gordon

03:14is a six out of ten and the next six out of ten will be harvey barnes just edging gordon in this

03:21list just because of his contributions in the second half of the campaign probably he has scored

03:25vital goals before then we all remember that straight against wolves absolutely brilliant and

03:28he has had some really good um performances you know first half against leicester city away for

03:34example and scored some big goals time and time again two against manchester united and of course

03:38played a key role in the carabao cup final maybe that that's what nudges him above anthony gordon

03:42now i'm thinking about it but yeah harvey barnes decent better than his first year and of course

03:47injury problems still hit a little bit this year but hopefully he can either become the player that

03:52everyone thinks he can and get lots of goals because he always guarantees goals or you got some

03:57maybe um look to sell him but that's another story for another time yeah harvey barnes six out of ten for

04:02me now we move up to jacob murphy on eight out of ten and i'm a shocked i think it's anyone that

04:09the seasons murphy's had but you can't put it past him his numbers are unbelievable it's linked up with

04:14alexander azak's being really good and i think the main thing for me is new gas tonight sold

04:18michael almer on in january for decent money but they didn't recruit anyone for that right wing

04:22and had murphy not been putting up the numbers the stats he was that could have been a real issue for

04:27them but it wasn't because murphy was performing he performed week after week he was a reliable um

04:32you know goal scorer assist maker and that's what you need as a winger you might you know he might

04:38be playing out of his skin he might have enjoyed a purple patch but that purple patch has gone on

04:41for a number of months so fair play to him he's he's done really well and i do think he's he's

04:46certainly one of new gas tonight's better players this year it's a shame he doesn't get the

04:49international recognition he might deserve but eight out of ten i think is a very solid score and you can

04:53look back on his season very well and if new gas will do recruit a new right winger in summer which

04:58which everyone expects they will murphy's going to be a very good deputy and someone who's going to

05:02be challenging whoever they sign for a regular starting place just because of the work he's done

05:07this year but of course the 10 out of 10 is alexander isak now i mentioned my last video um there was a

05:1210 out of 10 in that and dan burn got a 9 out of 10 in my defenders video but isak has got to be up

05:17there for player of the season he's his goal is fantastic 27 goals in all competitions

05:22he's scored big goals at the right time obviously had that unbelievable run at christmas around

05:28christmas and the new year yeah there's nothing else i can say about alexander isak the the price

05:33tag of 150 million to be honest i think it's a little bit low he's one of the best strikers in

05:36the world if not the best striker um you guys united are lucky to have him and they're going to

05:41hopefully build a team around him next year and beyond because strikers that don't come around too

05:46often if you keep all of them when you've got them and you must do that and you got some must do

05:49that with isak he's been brilliant and certainly up there for yeah player of the season so there are

05:54my forward player of the player ratings of the season who of course had the midfielder defender

05:59and goalkeeper over the last few days uh please let me know what you think please drop comments on

06:15sort of four or five contenders for that i think you can tell it's going to be between two players

06:19but i'll keep that a little bit of a surprise for later but yes alexander isak 10 out of 10 to round

06:24off this video absolutely tremendous season um and yeah hopefully you can build on that there's a

06:28scary thought if you can't build on that because yeah what a season he's had

06:31been very good a season as well oh yeah

06:43and that's interesting
