Rich Dickinson's Driving Force was the debut act at Blues at the Bartons Arms. The veteran guitarist loved the venue saying it had the best sound of any second city venue he had played at over the decades

00:00And we've got Rich Dickinson from Stroud, who was the first ever performer at the Blues, at the Bartons, at the Palace of Varieties.
00:12How was that? Did you enjoy it?
00:14It was great. It's a privilege. Beautiful building. Wonderful sound. Great management. Big Bear promotions.
00:22Absolutely great night. We loved it. Can't wait to come back.
00:25Have you played here before?
00:26No. Played in Birmingham quite a lot.
00:28Yeah.
00:30But this is the first time at this venue that we were the first band in. And I can thoroughly recommend it. It's great.
00:36Amazing acoustics, isn't it?
00:38Wonderful.
00:38These Victorians seemed to know what they were doing, didn't they?
00:40They certainly did. Yeah, it's a performance room. It's got a proper stage, proper sound rig, and it's been designed to project sound. It sounds lovely. It's probably the best sounding room in Birmingham that I've played. And I've played quite a few.
00:55That's really impressive. And how do you describe your music then?
00:59We play blues rock. Loud, fast. Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore. We're good musicians. We can do the business.
01:12You had a great reception. And when are you coming back?
01:15I don't know yet, but it's Henry's Blues House, and we'll be doing this venue and also Snobbs as well in town.
01:23And for Big Bear as well, if Birmingham's got anything to talk about, everyone knows about Big Bear.
01:31It's a privilege to play for Jim Simpson. We're right next to where Black Sabbath used to play. We're right in the middle of the country, the best music town in England.
01:44And, you know, Liverpool and Birmingham were the two best.
01:47That's really interesting. And thanks for chatting to us. And safe journey home.
01:55Thank you very much. We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you.
