Slap bang in the middle of Black Sabbath country and with its fair share of Ozzy Osbourne anecdotes from when the megastar raised hell, it is fitting the stage will grace blues artists in its first month.

00:00Hi and welcome to the Barton Arms. We're standing outside here the Palace of Varieties which is our
00:07entertainment room. This room in particular was very famous back in the day with the likes of
00:13Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Ozzy Osbourne and even Frank Skinner started their career here.
00:19So we're looking to revive that and bring it back to its former glory. What's special about this
00:25place? It's a historical value. It's a fantastic place. It's full of so many memories which I'm
00:31glad to be a part of. We've done a lot of research into who was here. We've been attended here by
00:36Charlie Chaplin, by Laurel and Hardy and on stage we've had Ozzy Osbourne and even Frank Skinner
00:42started his career off here. So it's full of nostalgia and historical value which you want
00:48to bring that back to you. What does that mean to Birmingham and the West Midlands? For Birmingham
00:54the West Midlands, this is really a one-off place where nowhere else in town has got this historical
01:00value to it. What's the historical value? Because of all the famous people we've had here
01:07come through the doors and the building itself is absolutely amazing. Built in 1901. It's still the
01:14original Victorian tiles which everybody comes to look at. They're made by Minton in Soak-on-Trents
01:21and it's just such a fantastic nostalgic place.
