Due to defective camera software.

00:00Ford has announced its recall in more than 1 million vehicles in the U.S.
00:04The reason for the recall is due to a software issue with the rear-view cameras of some models,
00:08which could increase the risk of a crash.
00:10According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
00:13the issue may cause cameras to freeze, delay, or not display images.
00:17More than 10 different Ford models are affected by the defective software.
00:20Ford says letters notifying owners of the issue will be sent out by June 16,
00:24with a second letter detailing a solution being sent later this year.
00:27Dealers are expected to be able to update the software through an over-the-air update.
00:32Ford has already faced two other U.S. recalls this year, both related to rear-view camera issues.
00:37Those recalls affected roughly 289,000 vehicles,
00:40and in November of 2024, the carmaker agreed to pay a $165 million civil penalty
00:46after NHTSA found Ford didn't recall some of the vehicles with defective cameras in a timely manner.
