00:00Well, we've put over a billion pounds extra into fighting crime and we inherited a disastrous
00:05situation where our prisons were at creaking point where we'd have had to have turned away
00:10serious offenders because we wouldn't have had the prison places to house them. So we've put in
00:15a programme, a system, so that we can, if people are well behaved and deemed not a risk, that they
00:20could be tagged and supported in the community. So it's not softening crime, it's about making
00:26sure we build the prisons we need. We've got the bobbies on the beat and we're making sure
00:30that people are safe in their communities. As I said, we've put more money into policing.
00:35We know that we also need to look at how we modernise policing and we also need to make
00:39sure that our prison system can cope with the demand. The Tories left it in a complete failure.
00:44We're determined to turn that around.
