00:00I'm John Walsh, and I've dedicated my entire life to locking up the worst criminals.
00:10We're tracking down one of the most ruthless gangs of lawbreakers we've ever fought after.
00:17My son Callahan and I are fired up.
00:20With your help, we're coming for fugitives, hunting them down,
00:23and putting them right where they belong, behind bars.
00:27Including these that you'll see tonight.
00:30Two best friends executed, igniting an alleged gang war in New York City,
00:35and leaving a trailer surveillance video behind.
00:39Their mothers join us in studio in hopes that your tips can help us find fugitive Stephen Santiago.
00:46Then, she was just 12 when the abuse began.
00:49Now an accused predator is still free, and one of the U.S. Marshals 15 most wanted.
00:56We need your tips to put David Bonas behind bars for good.
01:00And later, a fight over a moped turns deadly in the streets of Boston,
01:06and the suspect behind it all is still out there.
01:09The manhunt is on for Anthony Chester.
01:13America's Most Wanted is the original true crime series, and we're back.
01:19You can run, but you can't hide.
01:22Hello everyone, I'm John Walsh.
01:24And I'm Callahan Walsh.
01:25And this is America's Most Wanted.
01:27Tonight we're tracking some real lowlifes who think they disappeared for good.
01:32But they're wrong, because we've got something they don't.
01:35You.
01:36For more than 30 years, America's Most Wanted has helped bring justice to victims.
01:41With your help, AMW has taken down 1,198 fugitives.
01:46But we're not stopping now.
01:48Remember, if you recognize a face, pick up the phone, or go to our website.
01:52Your anonymous tip could change everything.
01:54Because here's the truth.
01:56You can run, but you can't hide.
01:58So let's saddle up and get to work.
02:00This is the kind of case that really stays with you.
02:03We want to warn viewers.
02:05Some of the details are hard to watch, so viewer discretion is advised.
02:09Now this case involves two childhood friends,
02:12caught in the middle of a violent feud that they had nothing to do with.
02:17Now, two mothers are living every parent's nightmare.
02:23My daughter, Nikki,
02:27if she liked you, she was the best person in the world.
02:30But if she didn't like you, she won't try to be fake about it.
02:35She was tough as nails.
02:37My husband and I own a restaurant in the Lower East Side of New York.
02:42Nikki grew up in the restaurant as well.
02:45She'll go there after school, she'll help for a few hours.
02:48What's up, boss lady?
02:50She was always trying to help people.
02:52She was the one.
02:54Oh, you're hungry? Come to the restaurant.
02:57Go, go, go look for Nikki. She'll make sure you're fed.
03:00Despite her popularity, Nikki kept a small inner circle,
03:04including her friend from childhood, Jesse Parrillo.
03:07Jesse and Nikki were very good friends.
03:09They went to middle school together.
03:11Jesse, he was into every sport you can name him.
03:15But basketball became his passion.
03:21My son was a friend to many.
03:23If anything, he lost his life due to his generosity.
03:34Yeah, I'm on Shore Road and there's a car on fire over here.
03:38I don't know if there's people in the car or not.
03:41The car is engulfed in flames.
03:45Police in the Bronx are now looking for a killer
03:48after two people were found dead inside a burning car.
03:51It was around 8 in the morning.
03:53By the time I arrived at the location,
03:55really isn't until we find a shell casing adjacent to the vehicle
03:59that homicide gear starts kicking into place.
04:02We were able to get a plate off of the vehicle
04:05that assisted us in identifying the registered owner of the vehicle,
04:08Jesse's mother, Michelle Morales.
04:11Investigators reach out to the families to deliver the tragic news.
04:16That Nikki Wong and Jesse Parilla have been murdered.
04:20It was the most terrible experience that any mother can experience.
04:24It's unimaginable.
04:26Losing a child is an imaginable pain.
04:31I can't imagine what she was going through.
04:34Sitting in the car.
04:38Knowing that she'll probably never get to go home again.
04:41In the beginning, I was desperately looking for answers.
04:44What's going on? Why? Why would they do this to him?
04:48Determined to find the people responsible for Nikki and Jesse's murders,
04:53the NYPD catches a break when a tip comes in.
04:56We get a call from a Lower East Side precinct
04:59stating that the day prior to the incident happening,
05:02Nikki Wong's parents went to the precinct to report her missing,
05:05and they'll never find her again.
05:07Nikki Wong's parents went to the precinct to report her missing,
05:10and they'll show that earlier in the day she had been robbed
05:13for a brown Louis Vuitton bag.
05:15As detectives receive new tips,
05:18they discover Nikki's purse theft was linked to a gang war.
05:22This was centered around these two rival gangs
05:25that come out of the Lower East Side.
05:27The up-the-hill and the down-the-hill gangs.
05:30And then at that point, we discover that Nikki's family owns a restaurant
05:34in the middle of these two gangs.
05:36The up-the-hill gang and the down-the-hill gang,
05:39these were people that came to the restaurant.
05:42And my daughter, she's always like, Mom, don't worry.
05:45They know me, I know them.
05:47There's no bad blood between any of us.
05:50Despite Nikki's assurances to her mother,
05:53it turned out that Nikki had been robbed
05:56by a member of the down-the-hill gang near her family's restaurant.
06:00So now that we understand the proximity of Nikki's family's restaurant
06:03in relation to the other two gangs,
06:05other pieces start falling into place.
06:07Accessing a vast network of surveillance cameras,
06:10detectives started connecting the dots
06:13of how Nikki's purse theft led to the gang war.
06:16We obtained a video where we see Nikki,
06:18shortly after getting her purse stolen,
06:20venting to individuals inside of a store.
06:23One of these individuals, an up-the-hill gang member,
06:26used Nikki's purse theft as an excuse to retaliate
06:30against the down-the-hill gang.
06:32About two hours later, an up-the-hill crew shot up a corner
06:37that's known to be frequented by down-the-hill,
06:40which is where Brandon Atkinson, a known down-the-hill gang member,
06:43was murdered.
06:45He was also the brother of Steve and Santiago.
06:49This high-ranking member of the down-the-hill gang
06:53had a lengthy history with law enforcement.
06:56So tracking his whereabouts, we were able to get bodega video
07:00that has a clear depiction of what he's wearing
07:02on the day of the incident.
07:04Meanwhile, phone records revealed that after her purse was stolen,
07:08Nikki called her close friend Jesse for a ride home.
07:12A few hours later, Nikki pulls up to her residence
07:15in Orjanda Accord that is being driven by Jesse Perea.
07:19Nikki exits the vehicle, and she proceeds upstairs
07:22to her apartment, and Jesse stays behind.
07:25Obviously, at this point, she was robbed of her keys,
07:28so she doesn't have access to the apartment,
07:30and everyone in the apartment was asleep,
07:32so she was unable to gain entry.
07:34Meanwhile, through phone records, we were able to determine
07:37that Jesse was in contact with members of the down-the-hill gang
07:41trying to negotiate for Nikki's items back.
07:44And it was through these negotiations
07:46that Santiago and his crew found out where Jesse and Nikki were.
07:51Jesse was not a gang member himself,
07:53but he knew the gangs obviously from the neighborhood
07:55and was just trying to help a friend.
07:57Minutes after Nikki goes upstairs,
07:59Steven Santiago was seen pulling up beside Jesse,
08:03intent on avenging his brother's murder.
08:06In the video, what you see is that Steven Santiago
08:08appearing to coerce Jesse out of the vehicle.
08:11The other individual, you can actually see striking him.
08:14They get Jesse out of the car,
08:17and that's when the kidnapping of Jesse Perea happens.
08:21It is at that point Nikki receives a text message from Jesse,
08:24and it is believed that they used Jesse's phone
08:27to lure out Nikki.
08:33She leaves to come back downstairs,
08:35and Nikki, unbeknownst to her,
08:37is getting inside of a vehicle with Steven Santiago.
08:41No!
08:51But she was always so scared.
08:56But she was also so brave.
08:59So I'm sure she didn't let them see her crack.
09:04Let's take a closer look at the suspect Steven Santiago.
09:08He's 37 years old with black hair and brown eyes.
09:11Six foot one and weighs 220 pounds.
09:14Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward
09:17for information leading to Santiago's arrest and conviction.
09:20If you have any information regarding his whereabouts,
09:23we want to hear from you.
09:25And remember, you can't remain anonymous.
09:27Call us at 1-866-AMW-TIPS
09:31or go to amwtips.com.
09:34Coming up, from the burning crime scene
09:37to a carefully planned getaway.
09:39Police close in on the crew behind it all.
09:42Then, he disappeared almost a decade ago.
09:46Accused of horrific child sex crimes.
09:49Now, he's one of the U.S. Marshals' 15 most wanted.
09:53David Bonas.
09:55And later, the attempted theft of a moped
09:58explodes into violence,
10:00leaving one man dead
10:02and suspect Anthony Chester on the run.
10:06Let's get these dirtbags.
10:16Welcome back.
10:17We've seen how two lifelong friends vanished,
10:20triggering a desperate search across New York City.
10:24Now, authorities retrace their final hours.
10:27A chilling phone call, a torched car,
10:30and the suspects caught on camera.
10:36It's 2 a.m., and Nikki and Jesse
10:38are allegedly being held hostage by Steven Santiago
10:41in Jesse's Honda Accord.
10:43And at this point, Jesse's mother
10:45has been trying to get a hold of him for quite some time.
10:50I keep calling now, back to back,
10:52back to back, back to back,
10:54until finally, at 2-19,
10:57I hear,
10:58hello.
10:59I said, hello.
11:01Are you okay?
11:04Yes, Mom.
11:05I said, are you coming home?
11:07Yes, Mom.
11:09And they hung up.
11:14That was the last thing I heard, yes, Mom.
11:17I'm coming home.
11:19Using traffic surveillance footage,
11:21investigators tracked the Honda Accord
11:24carrying Jesse, Nikki, and Steven Santiago,
11:27along with a small white Fiat
11:30driven by other gang members.
11:32Both vehicles are taken up into Westchester,
11:34come back down into the Bronx,
11:36which is where Jesse and Nikki's murders took place.
11:41And then the car was set on fire.
11:49After Nikki and Jesse's murder,
11:52Santiago and his crew
11:54get into the white Fiat and flee the scene.
11:57We tracked the Fiat throughout the entire night.
12:00And in the morning,
12:01the Fiat comes to the location of 183 and Girard,
12:04where they light the car on fire.
12:07Detectives believe Santiago and his fellow gang members
12:11burned the car to eliminate any evidence.
12:15They then proceed on foot into Manhattan
12:17and we subsequently follow them
12:19through video surveillance down to 106th Street and 1st Avenue.
12:23However, at that location,
12:25we do lose them for quite some time.
12:31It took almost a year for the first arrest to be made.
12:34And since then,
12:35there have been five indictments, four arrests,
12:38but there is still one suspect that remains at large.
12:43That is Steven Santiago.
12:48All I had was one child.
12:52I want the world to know
12:55that there's nothing wrong with giving up
13:00a criminal like this.
13:03We just need the public's help.
13:06I never even got to bury my daughter.
13:11Just please, if you have any information, reach out.
13:15We do want to leave New York.
13:17We do want to leave this neighborhood,
13:19but we're not going to do that
13:20until Steven Santiago is found
13:24and this chapter of our life closes.
13:32Joining us now are Jessie's and Nikki's
13:34very brave mothers, Michelle Morales and Amy Chan.
13:38Thank you, ladies, for having the courage to be here.
13:41And I just offer you my heartfelt condolences.
13:44We belong to that same terrible club,
13:47parents of a murdered child.
13:49The NYPD chief of detectives, Joseph Kenney,
13:52sent me this statement right here.
13:54The horrific murder of these New Yorkers
13:56devastated a community
13:58and created the greatest fear within our city.
14:01But NYPD has a long reach.
14:03And with the help of our law enforcement partners,
14:06the public and America's Most Wanted,
14:08we will not rest until Jessie and Nikki's families,
14:11friends and loved ones
14:12see the heinous fugitive placed behind bars.
14:16Strong statement.
14:17Meaning they're not giving up.
14:19I'm thankful.
14:22And I'm glad that our kids weren't forgotten.
14:26It just gave me more of the hope and the faith
14:29that justice is moving forward.
14:32It will be done.
14:33He did not deserve this.
14:34Do you kind of support each other?
14:36We do.
14:37You do?
14:38She knows what I'm going through.
14:39Right.
14:40I know what she's going through.
14:41Right.
14:42We both lost our kids the same way.
14:45Same way.
14:46And you realize you're stronger together.
14:47You got one goal and to get that bastard off the streets.
14:50That's the ultimate goal.
14:52On a situation like this,
14:53I just feel like the community should have been at rage.
14:57And everybody should have came together to support.
15:00But everybody was just keeping silent due to fear.
15:05Yeah.
15:06The way they made the story sound, it was terrible.
15:08It was terrible.
15:09They really tried to make Nikki look like
15:13she was the person that started all this.
15:16When she was the victim to begin with.
15:18From the beginning.
15:19The stealing of the purse.
15:20And then became victim again.
15:23They made wrong right and they made right wrong.
15:27I experienced that firsthand when we were looking for Adam.
15:30You're grieving.
15:31Your heart's broken.
15:32Your heart is torn out.
15:33You're bleeding from that wound.
15:35And the media and other people are saying all kinds of things.
15:38Just awful.
15:39It's hurtful.
15:40But the neighborhood that we've come from,
15:42it's not, you know, it has this dark time.
15:45But it also has a light to it.
15:46Yes.
15:47So it's a neighborhood that this should not happen.
15:50Right.
15:51I mean, it's always been the same neighborhood.
15:53I grew up in that restaurant.
15:55I always felt safe in the neighborhood.
15:58You know, you grow up with these people.
16:00You watch out for them.
16:02But these are the same people that turn around
16:05and, like, took advantage, complete advantage of my child.
16:13They were good kids.
16:15Jesse was my everything.
16:17Like, my strength, my motivation.
16:21Just looking into those eyes.
16:26Just being with you,
16:29I know somebody out there is helping that dirt bag.
16:33Somebody is protecting him.
16:35I've got the uncatchable.
16:38We're doing your case because we believe we can help you.
16:41And we will.
16:43They haven't destroyed you.
16:44They haven't destroyed you, too.
16:46I don't feel that way.
16:49But you know what?
16:50We give people hope.
16:52We have caught almost 1,200 of the world's worst, most dangerous dirt bags.
16:58I'd like to put him right up at the top.
17:00So be safe.
17:03God bless you.
17:08What a powerful interview.
17:10We've got to catch this guy.
17:11So let's take a closer look at Steven Santiago.
17:14He's 37 years old with black hair and brown eyes,
17:176'1 and weighs 220 pounds.
17:20Nikki and Jesse were murdered
17:22and their vehicle set on fire in the East Bronx section of New York City.
17:27But the Down the Hill gang is centered on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
17:31As to Santiago's whereabouts,
17:33investigators have received tips literally all over the map.
17:36He may have ties to North and South Carolina.
17:39Santiago also has ties to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico,
17:43and it's possible he may have fled to Mexico.
17:46Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward
17:49for information leading to Santiago's arrest and conviction.
17:52Let's try to get justice for these grieving families.
17:55Call us at 1-866-AMW-TIPS
17:58or go to our site, amwtips.com.
18:02Coming up, he vanished nearly a decade ago,
18:05accused of sexually abusing a young girl for years.
18:09Now an alleged predator is one of the U.S. Marshals' 15 most wanted,
18:14and it's past time to bring him in.
18:17Stay with us. We'll be right back.
18:26Welcome back.
18:27You know, it's one of the most disturbing cases we've ever seen.
18:31A teenage girl comes forward after years of horrible sexual abuse.
18:37But before police can make an arrest, the suspect disappears.
18:41Now, nearly a decade later, the alleged predator is still on the run
18:46and on the U.S. Marshals' 15 most wanted list.
18:51Take a deep breath.
18:54My name is Alicia Galvin, and I am a survivor of sexual assault.
19:01The person accused is my stepfather, David Bonas.
19:06He sexually assaulted me throughout my whole teenage years.
19:15Growing up, I lived with my grandparents.
19:19I had a very strong connection with both of them.
19:23I viewed them as my mom and my dad.
19:26But that all changed when I was 12 years old.
19:30In 2003, after years of separation,
19:33Alicia's mother invites her to live in South Dakota,
19:37hoping for a fresh start alongside Alicia's younger sister
19:41and her new husband, David Bonas.
19:44When I first met David, I thought he seems like a good dad.
19:48He worked at a car dealership, and I felt comfortable with him.
19:53I wanted to view him as a father figure.
19:56I seen that my mom was happy, and my little sister was happy,
20:00so I just kind of took it day by day with everything.
20:06But very quickly, he started out with the inappropriate compliments.
20:12I was 13 years old when David made the comment that
20:16my butt had looked good in what I was wearing.
20:20That's not something a father figure does.
20:23And there was physical advances.
20:27You know, a touch on the shoulder or a stroke of the hair,
20:31and then it just kind of gradually grew from there.
20:36My mom worked at a casino until like 2 in the morning,
20:40so he had all that time.
20:42When I would go to sleep, I would always make sure that, like,
20:45my sister was right near me to where there was no room for anyone else.
20:52But I didn't stop him.
20:58He would just pick up my sister and move her down to the floor.
21:06He just took something that was very precious
21:09that you're supposed to share with somebody that you love.
21:21He was raping me.
21:28He would tell me I better not tell anyone.
21:31If you tell anybody, I'll hurt your mom and your sister.
21:35I felt scared throughout my teenage years.
21:39But I didn't tell anybody because I didn't know what he would do,
21:43and I did not want to find out.
21:46I was constantly watching over my shoulder.
21:51Alicia endured the abuse for four long years
21:54until David's latest demand pushed her to the brink.
21:59So I remember my mom was going to Wyoming,
22:04and I really wanted to go with her,
22:06but she said I would have to ask David,
22:08and he said no, so I had to stay.
22:12I was going back into my room when David said,
22:16check the first drawer.
22:18I just opened the drawer, and I see that there is
22:22two things of beer, and then there's some Vicodin,
22:26along with the note
22:29saying take these pills and drink these beers,
22:32and when your mom's gone, you know, I'll make you feel good.
22:38I felt disgusted.
22:41I just think I was over everything.
22:43I had to tell someone what was going on.
22:47I finally felt like I'm done with this nightmare.
22:54Let's take a good look at David Bonas.
22:56He's 57 years old, 5'9", and weighs 180 pounds.
23:00He has green eyes and brown hair,
23:02though he may be balding at this point.
23:04The U.S. Marshal Service is offering up to $25,000
23:08for information leading to his arrest.
23:10If you recognize Bonas or have any information
23:13on his whereabouts, we want to hear from you.
23:15And remember, you can remain anonymous.
23:18Call 1-866-AMW-TIPS or go to amwtips.com.
23:24Coming up, when a very brave Alicia finally shares her secret,
23:28police move fast to bring David Bonas in.
23:31But when they grill him, you won't believe what he does next.
23:35And later, neighborhood dispute turns deadly
23:38after a fight over a moped explodes into violence.
23:42Now police are on the hunt for the alleged killer who got away,
23:46Anthony Chester.
23:48But first, we need your help tracking these dirtbags down.
23:53A daring drug heist in Danvers, Massachusetts.
23:57Watch as this masked gunman terrifies pharmacy staff
24:01while making off with powerful meds.
24:04At a CVS located at 1 Maple Street,
24:07the suspect enters the store at 5.16 p.m.,
24:11suspiciously wearing a face mask and sunglasses.
24:15He makes a beeline to the pharmacy,
24:17pulls a gun and forces a female employee
24:20to open the narcotics safe.
24:22Witnesses overheard him demanding Xanax
24:25and other controlled substances.
24:28The woman remains calm while tossing bottle after bottle
24:32of prescription pills into a black trash bag.
24:35The gun only inches away from her.
24:38That wasn't enough, so he demands another employee
24:42throw in even more narcotics.
24:44In less than two minutes,
24:46he's looted hundreds of prescription drugs
24:49and rushes past the shopper to make his getaway.
24:52The suspect is described as a tall white man
24:55with a slender build.
24:57Authorities warn the public
24:59that he's considered armed and dangerous.

25:10More cases after the break.
25:15♪♪♪
25:20Welcome back.
25:21Alicia Galvin held on to a dark secret for years
25:25until one day the abuse was too painful to hide.
25:29But when police bring Bonas in for questioning,
25:32the suspected predator finds the perfect chance to disappear.
25:38David Bonas, my stepdad, sexually assaulted me.
25:43For years.
25:45There was never a time where it wasn't going on.
25:50And after reading the note...
25:53♪♪♪
25:55I didn't want to go through it anymore.
25:58You know, that was just the breaking point for me.
26:01♪♪♪
26:03I had to tell someone what was going on.
26:07With David, I wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend,
26:10but...
26:12I met Jordan my sophomore year,
26:15and we would skip school all the time.
26:19Our relationship had evolved to where
26:22I felt very comfortable with him.
26:25So at that point, I did tell him everything.
26:31He said, I'll do anything, I'll help you.
26:34I felt very relieved knowing that
26:38somebody actually believed
26:40and is going to help me get through this.
26:44And so he was the one who told my mom what David was doing
26:49and that it was going on for years.
26:53My mom blew up, and she confronted David.
26:58After that, we went to go talk with the police.
27:03What Alicia disclosed was that her stepfather,
27:06he was introducing drugs and alcohol,
27:09and to be sexually violated,
27:11that had to have been so frightening for her.
27:15David Bonas was interviewed regarding the allegations.
27:18You're David?
27:20Law enforcement wanted to know his side of the story at the time.
27:23They gave him an opportunity to give it,
27:25and he gave the interview under his own free will.
27:28What's your relationship like with Alicia?
27:31She said something about I'd been doing stuff with her
27:34for several years or touching her or whatever,
27:36and that's when she was adopted, so I haven't done nothing.
27:39Would you be willing to do a buccal swab?
27:42In 2008, DNA is very much a thing.
27:45Law enforcement is very interested
27:47in getting a swab of Bonas' DNA
27:51to compare to a pair of her underwear.
27:54Alicia suggested we'll have his DNA on it.
27:58Would you be willing to do that?
28:04I just want to get in that car and go home.
28:06He refuses.
28:08After the interview, David Bonas is allowed to leave.
28:11He's not under arrest at the time.
28:13Our best guess is that David Bonas left Rapid City
28:16knowing probably full well
28:18that a warrant was inevitably going to be issued for his arrest.
28:25We will not stop until we find this man.
28:29Help us find David Bonas.
28:31He's out there.
28:33With David still being on the run, I will not ever feel safe.
28:38This nightmare won't be over until he is behind bars.
28:42And I just want anyone who may be out there
28:45experiencing the same thing,
28:47just always know that it is important to get your story out.
28:52There will always be somebody there
28:54to believe and help you through everything.
28:58Joining us now is an old friend of America's Most Wanted
29:02and a former marshal, Nikki Ralston.
29:05Nice to see you again. Thanks for being here.
29:07Always a pleasure. Thank you.
29:09This creep had been out there for a long time
29:11and you guys put him on the 15 Most Wanted.
29:15Why was that so important?
29:17The fact that he's on the run, that alone can make him unpredictable
29:20and that unpredictability is very dangerous.
29:23How brave is Alicia to come forward and talk about this?
29:26She is a very strong woman today.
29:29I can't emphasize that enough,
29:31but getting this guy in custody could definitely do a lot
29:35for the emotional closure for both her and her family.
29:38How often would you say abuse cases are domestic?
29:42More often than not, the victims know their offenders.
29:46What should people look out for?
29:48Usually there's some red flags.
29:50A lot of people choose to ignore those red flags,
29:52but just take a second look.
29:54Sexual predators build trust with their victims very slowly
29:59and they slowly introduce behaviors that are inappropriate
30:03and desensitize a victim.
30:05But they're good at hiding it for so many years.
30:07You know, it's not like the rapist who attacks one time.
30:10Maybe these guys get into the life of the victim.
30:14They come across as being very empathetic
30:17and helpful and caring, but it's all for show.
30:21I'll bet he thinks that he's bulletproof.
30:24He may be in a very comfortable atmosphere right now,
30:28but seeking the public's help
30:30is definitely going to make it harder for him to hide.
30:32You know, his situation may have changed.
30:34He may have moved to a different city.
30:36He may be in a new relationship
30:38and people may not know that he's wanted.
30:41And you being here and talking about this 15 most wanted
30:45it may open the door to somebody who goes,
30:47oh, my God, this guy's been cleaning my pool for five years.
30:51Right, and I understand he worked in the automotive industry
30:54so he could be selling cars.
30:56He could be a mechanic somewhere.
30:58Somebody knows this guy, and if they see something,
31:01it doesn't have to be 100% sure.
31:03Let us check it out.
31:04I'm an honorary sworn marshal, which I'm very proud of.
31:07So I know the track record between America's most wanted
31:10and the U.S. Marshals is a pretty damn good one.
31:13I agree.
31:14Caught a lot of bad guys.
31:16And the one thing I love about the Marshals
31:18is that when we get those tips,
31:20you guys get up in the middle of the night and roll.
31:22The United States Marshal Service
31:24and our state and local partners will not stop until we find him.
31:28He's not going to outrun justice.
31:31It's in his best interest for the safety of himself
31:34and the safety of all those around him to turn himself in.
31:37Well, let's hope somebody makes the call on this creep
31:40because he stayed out there way too damn long.
31:43I agree.
31:44Great to see you.
31:45Thanks for all the great work you did when you were a marshal.
31:48Thank you very much for having me.
31:50God bless.
31:51Cal.
31:52Here's a close-up on David Bonas.
31:54He's charged with more than a dozen counts
31:56of sexual assault related to a minor.
31:58As we said, he's among the U.S. Marshals' 15 most wanted.
32:01He's 57 years old, 5'9", and weighs 180 pounds.
32:05He has green eyes and brown hair, though he could be balding.
32:08A few details about his work history.
32:10Bonas is an expert auto mechanic,
32:12skilled at repairing Dodge and Chrysler vehicles in particular.
32:15Authorities suspect he's working in automotive repair,
32:18maybe at a dealership or a garage.
32:20Investigators believe Bonas left Rapid City, South Dakota in 2008,
32:24knowing a warrant for his arrest would be issued.
32:27There was an alleged sighting of Bonas a few years later.
32:30A former co-worker recognized Bonas
32:32outside a grocery store in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.
32:35He also has ties to the Dix, Nebraska area, about a half hour away.
32:39Bonas also has work experience with a railroad company in Wyoming,
32:43as well as connections to Colorado and New York.
32:46He may have even crossed the border into Canada.
32:49The U.S. Marshal Service is offering up to $25,000
32:52for information leading to his arrest.
32:55If you have any information on David Bonas,
32:57your identity can be protected.

33:05Coming up, a good Samaritan steps in to stop a theft.
33:09Seconds later, he's bleeding in the street.
33:12And the man who allegedly stabbed him, gone without a trace.
33:16We need your help to find him before he strikes again.
33:20You don't want to miss what's next.
33:33Welcome back.
33:34As you're about to see, it happened fast.
33:37A scuffle over the attempted theft of a moped on a Boston street.
33:42But when a father stepped in to help, trying to do the right thing,
33:46he paid the ultimate price.
33:52This is Ernest.
33:54And I love this picture.
33:58Ernest was that type of person that everybody loved to be around.
34:03He made everybody happy.
34:06Ernest Sims was a son, a father,
34:09and Ernest Sims was a good Samaritan.
34:12Unfortunately, he paid a very high price.
34:15Boston police. We need a police ambulance.
34:18Please, please.
34:22When Boston EMS arrived, they discovered Ernest Sims
34:25suffering from a stab wound to his neck.
34:27Thirteen minutes after police responded to the scene,
34:30Ernest Sims was pronounced dead.
34:33Ernest was on his way to the hospital.
34:36When I got there, that's when I learned that my son was gone.
34:43I got to see him when he was gone.
34:47Just hours earlier, Ernest was enjoying the last day
34:51of a holiday weekend at his grandmother's house.
34:55What started out as a Memorial Day cookout
34:58ended in cold-blooded murder.
35:00And the entire event was caught on tape.
35:03Cameras captured a two-toned Lexus
35:06stopping in front of the home on Buford Lane.
35:08Detectives would soon learn that Ernest Sims
35:11was the father of two children.
35:14Detectives would soon learn that the alleged killer was a drifter,
35:18supposedly intent on getting his hands on this scooter
35:22parked in front of Ernest's grandmother's house.
35:25Somebody exits the vehicle and approaches the scooter
35:28parked in front of the residence.
35:30While the individual is lifting the seat,
35:33the owner of the scooter emerges from the rear of the house.
35:36It appeared that the suspect was trying to take the scooter.
35:39But Ernest Sims came out and intervened.
35:42From what we can see on video,
35:44Ernest Sims bumped the suspect off of the sidewalk
35:47and away from the scooter's owner.
35:50The suspect responded by punching Ernest Sims in the face.
35:54A violent altercation ensued,
35:57out into the middle of the street
35:59and back and forth on the street.
36:079-1-1.
36:09My cousin just got into a with a random guy
36:11that showed up at the front of the house.
36:13And now my cousin just passed out in the street.
36:15He's bleeding.
36:16The cause of Ernest Sims' death was a puncture wound to his throat.
36:20There were bloodstains on a vehicle within the crime scene
36:23as well as on the scooter.
36:26One of the video clips we recovered
36:28allowed us to get a good view of the suspect and his clothing.
36:32And it also showed what appeared to be
36:34a long metallic object in his hand.
36:37According to the timestamp on that video,
36:40it happens immediately after the stabbing.
36:43I believe that object is likely the murder weapon.
36:50A bike.
36:52A bike.
36:55And my son did not know this person at all.
36:58But that's Ernest.
37:00Ernest is always going to be that person to protect.
37:04Keeping the peace, Ernest always been like that
37:06ever since he was little.
37:10We were able to recover the suspect's motor vehicle.
37:13The white Lexus was parked approximately
37:16one block away from the crime scene.
37:18The vehicle was registered to Anthony Chester.
37:22It appeared Anthony Chester was living out of the vehicle.
37:26We discovered several small hand tools such as screwdrivers.
37:30We still have not found the murder weapon.
37:33Anthony Chester's transient lifestyle
37:35made it very difficult for us to locate him.
37:37Very little in the way of social media
37:39or any other footprint that could help us find him.
37:46I still got his phone number in my phone.
37:48I won't delete it.
37:50I still got his message. I won't get rid of it.
37:55Just to hear his voice.
37:57Just to hug my son.
37:59I would love to do it.
38:03Ernest means a lot to me.
38:07I would not want nobody to go through what I'm going through.
38:12It's the worst feeling in the world.
38:15I want justice for my baby.
38:21We're joined now by Ernest's sister, Shia Sims.
38:24Thank you for being here.
38:25Thank you for having me.
38:26Of course.
38:27Take me back to the night that this happened.
38:29This guy just shows up on your grandmother's doorstep.
38:32Right.
38:33Tries to take the moped.
38:34I'm pretty sure he just went out there to diffuse the situation.
38:38But my brother was a protector.
38:40He was always there to try to save the day
38:43or definitely just swoop in and help out.
38:46I'm sure he put up a fight.
38:48He was being protective of not only his grandmother,
38:52but his family.
38:54And this was the outcome.
38:56You know, it's so unfortunate
38:57because we see this all the time with Good Samaritans.
39:00They step in, they're doing the right thing,
39:02they're standing up to a bad guy,
39:04and ultimately they become a victim.
39:06Yes.
39:07Do you wish he hadn't intervened that night?
39:09I do.
39:10I wish that I could have physically been there
39:14to at least even say to him,
39:17like, you know what, it's not worth it, let it go.
39:20The moped isn't worth your life.
39:21Yeah, it's not.
39:23You don't always have to act.
39:25What would it mean to you and your family
39:27to see this guy, Chester, caught and put behind bars?
39:31That would mean everything to me.
39:34I want him to think about this every day
39:37and know that he's hurt not only my brother physically,
39:42but my whole family mentally, emotionally.
39:46I become like a shell.
39:49I don't necessarily do the things that I used to do,
39:54but I feel like it's an honor for me to have even known him
39:58and to try to get his story out there.
40:00I know our viewers out there want to get justice for your family.
40:03I would remind anybody in that area,
40:05if anybody has footage from the night Ernest was killed,
40:07review that footage.
40:08There might be more information on there,
40:10maybe a better shot of this guy's face.
40:12Yes.
40:13If somebody out there knows where he is,
40:14we're hoping they give us that information.
40:16Yes, please.
40:17Absolutely.
40:18Thanks for being with us.
