00:00What is one thing that never fails to make me laugh? My daughter says
00:16hornages instead of oranges. I would say my favorite TV comedy of all time would
00:22be cheers. If I'm talking about an iconic TV character that means a great deal to me,
00:30give me Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec. I feel like the best piece of comedy advice I got was
00:36from my dad. When I was trying to be funny as a kid, he would say, if you say something funny
00:40and you worry that nobody heard it because nobody laughed, there's a good chance they did hear it
00:45and just didn't think it was funny, so don't say it a second time. Comedy hero, as far as earliest
00:50introduction to what comedy could be, would be Steve Martin. My parents have a lot of Steve
00:54Martin now. He's going to be a lesson to him a lot, so give me Steve. So many people don't know about
00:57comedians. I feel like that is a problematic question in that we come in so many different
01:02shapes and sizes and the biggest mistake you can make is say all comedians are one way or the other.
01:07Every good comedian takes it seriously. Just because it's funny on stage doesn't mean we think
01:12it should be funny when you're working on making it better. Yeah, I think we come in a lot of different
01:16walks. Do I have an audience warm-up song? No, I don't have an audience warm-up song. In fact, I feel
01:22like when I do stand-up, they always say, what kind of music do you want us to play when the people
01:27come in? And I always just say, play whatever the last comedian asked for if it was a good show.
01:33I don't want to have an extra burden of making a choice. All I want to choose is what I'm doing
01:38on stage. I hate when they ask me, what do you want the lights to look like? All of that is a disaster
01:44to me. I just want to focus on the material I've worked on, so anything I can sort of farm
01:49out to professionals I like to. It's funny, like reinvention, I think is, I would imagine
01:54for myself would be a giant mistake, whereas refining is, I think, what... I think you should
02:00consider reinvention. And you're alone with that, or do a lot of people say bye in my back?
02:04We're good friends.
02:05Okay.
