00:00We can't even say what we want anymore. Yes, you can. If you're a dangerous comedian, you see
00:06yourself as edgy. The thing that makes you dangerous or edgy is that there are consequences.
00:11The Hollywood Reporter's stand-up comedy roundtable is about to drop, and we're giving you
00:16a special preview. The episode marks the first in the latest season of our signature roundtable
00:20series, Off Script with The Hollywood Reporter. This time around, the stars sitting down at our
00:26iconic table include Jamie Foxx, Chelsea Handler, Seth Meyers, Hassan Minhaj, Sarah Silverman,
00:33and Roy Wood Jr. to dive into their respective recent stand-up specials.
00:37I had a stroke. I didn't have any jokes, because I had a special deal for a long time, but I didn't
00:43have nothing to talk about. What was I going to talk about? I'm rich. I was behind my gates,
00:47so I didn't have nothing to talk about. And then the stroke happened, and I was like, oh, this is
00:53a platform, which I don't want to have another stroke. I don't want to have another hour.
00:57During the hour-long conversation moderated by THR's Lacey Rose, the six top comics opened
01:02up about everything from reading reviews of their stand-up shows.
01:06Do you read your Ticketmaster reviews?
01:08No.
01:09Do you?
01:09Oh, no, don't do that.
01:11You do?
01:11Don't do Ticketmaster.
01:12What's the worst one you read?
01:13Only for joke critiquing, though.
01:16Oh, interesting.
01:17I don't care about anything else.
01:18Do you feel like you get a good...
01:19No, no, no, but that's not fair, because they'll start critiquing the parking.
01:22To their worst onstage bombs.
01:24Uh, Madison Square Garden, it was that, uh, concert for Sandy, Hurricane Sandy.
01:29And they had asked, uh, me and Bill Hader to do a Stefan, and Bill wisely said, I'm not
01:36going to do it.
01:37And then they said, what about Bobby Moynihan, his drunk uncle?
01:40And so we were, we'd written this thing to go out, and Chris Rocksauce backstage in costume,
01:45and he goes, you're going to do sketches?
01:47He goes, you're going to follow the who?
01:50Oh, that's fun.
01:50With sketches?
01:52And we just, all our confidence drained out of our face, and sure enough, we just went
01:56out, and they were so angry.
01:58And even being canceled.
02:00One of the first jokes that came to me is I called a buddy of mine, because you always,
02:03you have to have to call that buddy.
02:04Yeah.
02:04And I was like, how, how, Rob, how bad is it?
02:07And he was like, the article is bad.
02:08But the photos are good.
02:12And I was like, that's fucking hilarious.
02:14It's good.
02:14That's objectively hilarious, you know?
02:16And it's also like, it is very funny to fail so bad that you bring back Jon Stewart.
02:21Offscript with The Hollywood Reporter is known for bringing the entertainment industry's top
02:25creatives together for inspiring and surprising conversations.
02:29The pressure to constantly talk about Trump, it's like, we're also comedians.
02:32You're also supposed to give people, provide people with a reprieve from thinking about
02:36Donald Trump for a minute, for an hour, for however long your show is.
02:41You know, you want to provide time.
02:42That's why I like also doing stand-up, because I'm so tired of it.
02:46It's like, I've been there, done that.
02:47Everyone knows how I feel.
02:48I can't just keep banging this drum.
