00:00I'm not sure he needed much advice on that, I think Christian Scaroni is going to enjoy it, and from one Astana rider of the present, to another Astana rider, quite a famous one actually, of a few years ago, Vincenzo Nibili, who appropriately enough is going to be on the podium to hand over the champagne and shake his hand.
00:25This man has done everything perfect today, Christian Scaroni, and the team rode perfectly, thanks also to Fausto Masnada, never present Fausto Masnada in the early slops, in the early part of today's stage, but a well-deserved victory for Scaroni.
00:43What a ride, third, two days ago in Asiago, and today, first position, the rider from Russia.
01:13Can benefit as well from a long-range train ticket.
01:21Yep.
01:22It's going to come back easily on train from Rome.
01:26Back to Brescia for a well-deserved holiday, because his Giro d'Italia is complete.
01:32It doesn't matter what he does now, he's had a very successful Giro.
01:38As have Astana taking a stage victory, and almost certainly as well the King of the Mantens competition, in which he's really played his part.
01:46Actually sits in second place in that competition as well, Scaroni.
01:49The team itself wearing Maglia Rosa with Ulissi earlier, and this seems like ages ago, when we were on the starting line in Siena.
01:56Just for one day, admittedly, but that was a lovely moment.
02:05But this is a big deal for Christian Scaroni.
02:07This is the final week of the Giro.
02:09This is a big, big, big mountain stage, and to win alongside a teammate like that, historic stuff from Astana.
02:18That's one of those stages, a little bit unlike other stages, that's going to be talked about and remembered for years to come.
02:24And finally, Italy get that long-fall victory at the Giro.
02:27There was a genuine danger, not so long ago, that they might finish this Giro d'Italia without a single stage win, which would have been unimaginable.
02:35And it hasn't happened.
02:36In fact, they've filled the podium today, with Pellizzari in third place and Richard Carapaz from the GC race, finishing in fourth at one minute and ten seconds.
02:44It was tight, could have gone the way of the peloton rather than the breakaway today, but they had enough.
02:51Did Scaroni and Fortunato to hold off the furious race that was developing behind.
02:55And what ride by Pellizzari as well.
02:57He was, you know, it's not easy to recalibrate yourself after such a very unfortunate series of events for his leader.
03:05And he managed himself to be back in the top ten and amazing day for Pellizzari.
03:14But this man still in the jersey with more than a question about the next stages.
03:20A setback for Isaac Del Toro, no doubt about it, but still leading the race.
03:26And he could have cracked today.
03:28He could have surrendered that jersey.
03:29And you have to give him massive credit for fighting hard to hold on to a quarter of his advantage that he had over Richard Carapaz.
03:39Carapaz didn't quite have enough.
03:41I mean, he took a massive amount of time, but it wasn't quite enough in the end to deprive Isaac Del Toro of another day in the Mallorosa.
03:49He'll be hoping it isn't quite as hard as the one he's just had.
03:53Vincenzo Nibili, who knows exactly how to ride like Richard Carapaz and grab the pink jersey in the final week in the high mountains.
04:07Yeah.
04:08Having a little chat with Isaac Del Toro and I'm sure a little word of advice as well.
04:12Should have the support now of Juan Ayuso, who's dropped right out of general classification and can ride solely in support.
04:27A much simpler proposition for Ayuso if he's got the legs to support his teammate Isaac Del Toro in the mountains to come.
04:35If he's got the legs, but he's still got a team to work with him.
04:40Adam Yates had a very good day today. Rafa Maiker had a sensational day.
04:44And Isaac Del Toro fought hard, didn't lose the jersey, but did have a reality check. There's no doubt about that today.
04:54Yeah, it was not his best on the bike. Still wearing the jersey with a much, much slimmer gap on everybody else.
05:04So now Yates said that, you're going to see now, 26 seconds for the British.
