00:00you've said though that if you did run for president you believe you'd win
00:13well i don't know i think i'd win i tell you what i wouldn't go in to lose i've never gone
00:18in to lose in my life and and if i did decide to do it i think i'd be inclined i would say that i
00:24would have a hell of a chance of winning donald j trump is one of the most polarizing figures ever
00:28in history he developed quite the image for himself over the decades some would even call him
00:35the very first influencer before social media even existed let's take a look back at the very
00:42interesting rise of the donald like most children donald's personality was greatly shaped by his two
00:49parents his father played a key role in forming his ideology frederick was a no-nonsense individual
00:57with a very strong personality his winner's mentality allowed him to be a dominant force
01:02in the real estate industry he was quickly dubbed the henry ford of home building after establishing
01:09much of new york's early infrastructure in the span of just 16 years he built around 1 600 homes in the
01:17area as a successful father with five children he instilled much of his values in them he taught them
01:25toughness winning and resilience donald would become the son who closely followed his father's footsteps
01:33at just 13 he would be sent to military school and would toughen up even more
01:38the school was a competitive environment where he thrived
01:41the lessons he learned from his father would develop his archetype as the alpha male of the entire school
01:49he was an independent thinker and exuded high confidence as a high-ranked cadet
01:54after five years of enduring the tough military environment he took the next steps in sharpening his mind
02:01donald went off to college where he would major in economics
02:04the formal education strengthened his mindset even more as he learned the x's and o's of the business
02:11world after graduating with a bachelor's degree he would officially join the family business full-time
02:19the donald helped expand his father's real estate portfolio quickly the trump company branched out of
02:25new york and into other prominent markets in the country soon glamorous architecture had the trump name
02:32attached to it now taking on more of a key role in expansion he didn't shy away from the limelight
02:39in fact he embraced the attention he was receiving but donald being such an articulate and very confident
02:46speaker developed quite the image in the public eye he was a real-life tony stark of the real estate world
02:55people wanted to know his plans for the future hear his opinions even know about his personal life
03:02he had strong views even when it came to politics because he understood numbers like no other
03:08well one of the one of the reasons we say we're doing it is because we've been doing it and that
03:12all previous presidents have endorsed doing it i guess the kind of thinking of an entrepreneur is
03:17because somebody else said it was right doesn't make it right right larry the country is losing 200
03:23billion dollars a year 200 billion this country cannot continue to lose 200 billion dollars japan is one of
03:31the wealthiest machines ever created saudi arabia and it's not hey let me tell you i'm a big beneficiary
03:37of japan they buy my apartments in spades they're fine people but they must be they let they're laughing
03:43to themselves as to what's happening over here we're not kidding ourselves they're laughing to
03:47themselves larry as to what's happening in this country uh but uh donald uh a lot of people feel the
03:53way you feel and a lot of people maybe with as much money or certainly some people with as much
03:57money feel the way you feel why did you go public because somebody had to larry i watch it again and
04:03it's a very important point japan is a money machine saudi arabia is a money machine kuwait these are money
04:10machines the greatest ever created the united states is if it were a corporation it would be bankrupt it's
04:16losing 200 billion dollars a year while trump never shied away from the cameras many instances where the
04:24spotlight became somewhat of a burden he was a hot topic in pop culture year after year his financial
04:32wins would make headlines and so would his defeats at the start of the decade during a recession period
04:39where the economy struggled so did a few of donald's thriving business ventures his financial
04:46hardships chipped away at his larger than life image while things seemed bleak for the mogul for a
04:52short period donald remained resilient and would not accept defeat no matter what he masterfully crafted
05:00complex deals and was able to dig himself out of quite the hole the public branding he did over the
05:06years was one of the keys to his comeback his presence in media continued to be one of his greatest
05:13investments as pop culture continued to embrace the icon
05:21it's the donald oh my god
05:25at the turn of the century he created a national tv show that would break records for nbc
05:34my name is donald trump and i'm the largest real estate developer in new york
05:37i own buildings all over the place model agencies the miss universe pageant jetliners golf courses casinos
05:47and private resorts like mar-a-lago one of the most spectacular states anywhere in the world but it
05:53wasn't always so easy about 13 years ago i was seriously in trouble i was billions of dollars in debt but i
06:01fought back and i won big league i used my brain i used my negotiating skills and i worked it all out
06:09now my company's bigger than it ever was it's stronger than it ever was and i'm having more fun than i ever
06:14had
06:18i've mastered the art of the deal and have turned the name trump into the highest quality brand
06:24and as the master i want to pass along my knowledge to somebody else i'm looking for the apprentice
06:32while the show was a massive hit for over a decade trump had his sights set on his biggest deal thus far
06:39after many years of flirting with the idea of running for president
06:44he decided it was time to tackle yet another historic milestone in his illustrious career
06:49if you know all of my life i've heard that a truly successful person a really really successful
06:57person and even modestly successful cannot run for public office just can't happen and yet that's the
07:05kind of mindset that you need to make this country great again so ladies and gentlemen
07:12i am officially running
07:20for president of the united states and we are going to make our country great again
07:31donald lit up the campaign trails like no other did before trump turned many american citizens into
07:38the supporters he gave many people hope for a brighter future and he also vowed to clean up
07:45the political scene once and for all the more he pleaded his case the more support he got among voters
07:52i ask a simple question she's been doing this for 30 years why the hell didn't you do it over the last
07:5915 20 years you were very much involved excuse me my turn you were very much involved in every aspect of
08:07this country very much and you do have experience i say the one thing you have over me is experience
08:12but it's bad experience because what you've done has turned out badly for 30 years you've been in
08:17position to help and if you say that i use steel or i use something else i make it impossible for me to do
08:24that i wouldn't mind the problem is you talk but you don't get anything done hillary you don't just
08:30like when you ran the state department six billion dollars was missing how do you miss six billion
08:36dollars you ran the state department six billion dollars was either stolen they don't know it's
08:42gone six billion dollars if you become president this country is going to be in some mess believe me
08:52while extremely divisive he still managed win the nation over in the end
08:57donald j trump would become the 45th president of the u.s in a landslide victory
