00:00Charlie Sheen has been a well-respected actor for multiple decades.
00:11Sheen created a grand catalogue of fan favourites.
00:15From hit movies like Major League, Men at Work, and Money Talks.
00:20Sheen accumulated a number of acting awards for his work.
00:24He was even honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
00:27Over the years, Charlie has had a number of issues in the public eye.
00:33Reports would come out about substance abuse problems, assault allegations, and even prostitution scandals.
00:40He would be known as one of Hollywood's bad boys throughout the years.
00:45Even with a chequered past, Sheen was approached to star in a new primetime series on CBS called Two and a Half Men.
00:53And it would be Sheen's most iconic role thus far.
00:56The show premiered in 2003 right behind Everybody Loved Raymond.
01:02It seemed like the perfect role as Art imitated life.
01:06His character of Charlie Harper was a successful entertainer, wealthy.
01:10And he also engaged in a lot of this.
01:12The risk was high to enlist talent with such a shady history.
01:25But it paid off as the show would become a huge success for the network.
01:30Two and a Half Men would average well over 5 million viewers early on.
01:34And that number would triple in no time.
01:39For his contribution, Sheen would become the highest paid actor on television.
01:44Raking in approximately 2 million dollars per episode.
01:48Which was unheard of at the time.
01:51For years things seemed to be going well for the show, having successful season after successful season.
01:56But things would take a turn for the worst in season 8.
02:01In early 2011, after multiple tales of Charlie possibly partying too much.
02:07The show would abruptly stop filming.
02:10The hiatus was supposedly out of concern for Sheen's mental health.
02:14During this time is when things started to get strange.
02:19Sheen now having a lot of free time on his hands.
02:23He would use this time to start a public dispute with Chuck Lorre who was the creator,
02:28an executive producer of the hit sitcom.
02:31Charlie fired multiple insults targeted toward the show's production team and especially Lorre.
02:37CBS then released a statement saying the show would not finish filming the remaining 4 episodes of the 8th season.
02:44And after this announcement,
02:47Sheen took to the internet to vent and he also arranged sit-down interviews discussing the recent events that transpired.
02:54Charlie Sheen.
02:55He's been everywhere for the last 3 days, literally speaking what he calls his truth everywhere he can.
03:02But for all the outbursts, the 911 calls and the tabloid headlines,
03:06we've never heard as completely from the man as now.
03:09The question, what is going on inside the head of Charlie Sheen?
03:14Oh, are you clean right now?
03:17Look at me, duh.
03:18Drug tests don't lie.
03:20I am on a drug, it's called Charlie Sheen.
03:22When was the last time you did drugs?
03:24Don't remember, don't care.
03:25Are you willing to take a drug test?
03:27Sure, you got a cup?
03:28I asked him whether or not he was prepared to undergo a drug test.
03:32He said he would if when he passed, I would drink his urine.
03:36These are the results of the drug test you just took.
03:37Yeah, the word negative is like printed like 18 trillion times.
03:41That's how I roll.
03:41I have one speed, I have one gear.
03:43Go!
03:44You don't worry that you're going to die when you take that many drugs?
03:46Dying's for fools.
03:47Did you turn to alcohol and other substances because you were bored?
03:53No, I did that because they work.
03:55I expose people to magic.
03:57I expose them to something they're never otherwise going to see in their boring, normal lives.
04:00And I gave that to them.
04:01I may forget about them tomorrow, but they'll live with that memory for the rest of their lives.
04:04And that's a gift, man.
04:05I have a disease, bull****, and I cured it with my brain.
04:07With my mind.
04:09I'm cured.
04:10I'm done.
04:10I blinked and I cured my brain.
04:12That's how.
04:12Everybody has the power.
04:13Can't is the cancer of happen.
04:16Can't is the cancer of happen.
04:18I don't know what to tell you, man.
04:18I'm just, uh, I'm here and I'm ready.
04:20They're not boring it.
04:22It was written for normal people.
04:23People that aren't special.
04:24People that don't have tiger blood and, you know, Adonis DNA.
04:27But you love to party.
04:29I mean, what's not to love?
04:31Fools.
04:31How do you avoid that?
04:32Fools.
04:33Trolls.
04:35Weak.
04:36Defeated.
04:36They allowed defeat to be an option.
04:39I will not.
04:40Defeat is not an option.
04:41And defeat is not an option.
04:43How do you...
04:44Especially when you see how I party, man.
04:45It was epic.
04:45You partying at all hours of the night.
04:47Taking drugs.
04:48Abusing alcohol.
04:50It's their show.
04:51Epic.
04:52Epic behavior.
04:52The shape I was showing up in was, was, was epic.
04:56Was, was, was beyond comprehension.
04:58There's sort of something epic about that.
05:00That it got so gnarly that Stan just went, I'm out.
05:03His odd behavior, some would call a public meltdown, created tons of intrigue and headlines.
05:09He would showcase an obscure way of thinking and create tons of unforgettable quotes.
05:14These catchphrases took on a life of their own very quickly.
05:20Everything was winning.
05:21Because if there's one thing Charlie Sheen is above all, it's a winner.
05:26Come Wednesday morning, they're going to rename it Charlie Brothers and not Warner Brothers.
05:30Duh.
05:31Winning.
05:31Giant marquee name comes through on your collar ID and it's like, winning.
05:35Some are saying that you're bipolar.
05:37I'm bi-winning.
05:38Bi-winning.
05:41Winning.
05:41Wow, winning.
05:43That's an arena I'm going to win in.
05:44That's an arena he's going to win in.
05:46That is my plan.
05:47Thank you, Spiney.
05:49Winning.
05:50The publicity garnered from his interviews was enormous.
05:54Charlie even signed up for Twitter and gained 1 million followers in just 24 hours.
06:00People wanted to hear what he would say next.
06:04Sheen created even more attention when he introduced the world to his polygamous lifestyle.
06:09While they admit they're no ordinary family, his so-called goddesses even take care of Sheen's twin boys.
06:16This is Max and that's Bob.
06:18He shares custody of the twins with soon-to-be ex-wife, Brooke Mueller.
06:22Charlie, do you see these women as mother figures to your children?
06:26Absolutely.
06:27Sure.
06:27Yeah.
06:28And mad respect because it's a lot to ask.
06:31But I didn't have to ask.
06:32They just stepped up and went, of course we'll help.
06:34We all live in the same house.
06:35Yes.
06:36Yes.
06:37Are they like a second and third mother?
06:38Of course, yeah.
06:40Do you think the two of you are good influences on those twin boys?
06:44Well, absolutely.
06:45I mean, all you can do with children is love them, you know.
06:48And if that's, we love them and we're not doing anything to be harmful to their routine or, you know, undermine anything that else is going on.
06:56You know, we all have a lot of respect for each other.
06:58Yeah, I mean, people have seen, you know, what they've seen publicly.
07:04But behind closed doors, when we're here at this house, I mean, we're all just talking, laughing, we're watching movies each night.
07:10We're just hanging out with each other, you know.
07:12There's not any partying going on.
07:15You know, we're just hanging out.
07:17We're normal people.
07:18Following the series of odd events, CBS and Warner decided to officially terminate his contract.
07:26Charlie would then be banned from the production lot where filming took place.
07:30Ashton Kutcher then quickly signed on to replace Charlie's character.
07:35Ashton had big shoes to fill, and unfortunately, the updated show only had lukewarm receptions.
07:41John Cryer's character also became more prominent after Charlie was written out of the show.
07:48Millions tuned in for the series finale a few seasons later, just to see if Sheen would make a cameo.
07:55The actual episode storyline was a build-up of Charlie Harper's return.
08:00Chuck Lorre constructed a scene that would have a look-alike ring the mansion doorbell.
08:05And this happened.
08:06Some people were disappointed.
08:16And others found it to be a funny way to end the series.
08:19Taking real-life events and playing into it.
08:24Sheen did eventually come back to reality and was able to make fun of his wild antics.
08:29Please welcome the rock star from Mars, Charlie Sheen.
08:36At his roast on Comedy Central, Charlie Sheen arrived like a rock star.
08:41And took it like a man.
08:44Tell us, Charlie, how do you go from being TV's highest paid actor ever to being the highest actor ever to be on TV?
08:53What are your thoughts on the winning story?
08:56Leave a comment below and let me know.
08:59Take care.
