00:00Naitai Kapushita, May 30, 31 at the Mall of Asia Arena, 98 Degrees.
00:11What do you think of K-pop?
00:13I think it's great.
00:14I mean, I think they've kind of taken the best of the vocals, the best of the dancing.
00:19They've kind of made it into this thing that is just, it's so precise and it is so clean.
00:24It's very, very, I mean, it's more than we could do.
00:30You know, so we definitely have a lot of respect for it.
00:32Who did or who do you consider your biggest rival?
00:37I think we always considered ourselves our biggest rival, honestly.
00:40We try to keep it internal and just always challenge ourselves to be the best version of ourselves.
00:45I think we were out in a time when, you know, obviously you had Backstreet Boys, you had NSYNC,
00:48but we always felt like we were a different kind of group from them.
00:51We were less about the dancing, less about that, more about the vocal harmony.
00:54Right.
00:55So I think you find a lot of fans of like NSYNC also felt like they could like 98 Degrees,
00:59but they didn't feel like they could like Backstreet.
01:01So we, yeah, I think we were just trying to challenge ourselves constantly,
01:06not really looking at other groups as a threat or as a challenge to us,
01:10but trying to get the best out of ourselves constantly.
01:12Yeah, we modeled ourselves after Boyz II Men.
01:14So, I mean, they're our idols and so we really were trying to be like a Boyz II Men.
01:19Are you collaborating with SB19?
01:22Well, look, a couple of years ago when we were talking about coming here pre-pandemic,
01:26we were in talks with some of the management team of SB19.
01:29There was some interest there.
01:31And the other day I brought it up as something that was kind of on our wish list
01:34and we've been in contact with them and we're trying to meet up with them when we're here.
01:38So hopefully it is in the works.
01:39I mean, we have a lot of respect for what they do, the K-pop elements that they have yet,
01:43the Filipino twinge and style and vibe that they have.
01:47And we think it's kind of a perfect storm and kind of connects with what we do
01:51and would love the opportunity.
01:52That'd be fun.
01:53Yeah, K-pop is Korean pop.
01:55We call them, they're the biggest proponent of P-pop.
01:58P-pop, yeah.
01:59Filipino pop, yeah.
02:00Filipino pop.
02:01Once again, invite everybody, Nick.
02:03To join you.
02:04Yes, this Friday and Saturday, May 30th and 31st at the Mall of Asia Arena.
02:08Please come have an incredible night with 98 Degrees and some of our closest friends.
02:12It's going to be a great night of music and we are so excited to once again be back
02:15right here in the Philippines for all our fans.
02:17It's going to be great.
02:18Last question.
02:19Craziest fan moment?
02:21Well, we had a lot of those.
02:22I don't know if we can answer it.
02:23What time is this show on?
02:25Yeah, well.
02:26Still prime time.
02:27We can't answer that.
02:28Something that can be said on television.
02:29Nick, thank you very much.
02:31I think one time there was a fan that came in and they snuck in on a car.
02:33They snuck on to our tour buses.
02:36They snuck on to hotel room service carts and then jump out in your room.
02:41I think that was in the Philippines here actually.
02:43Yeah.
02:44Really?
02:45That was in the Philippines in our room service cart.
02:48I think one of us ordered breakfast or had eggs come in and they came out.
02:52I think one may have snuck into Justin's bed once or twice.
02:55I don't know what you're talking about.
02:57And what did you do, Justin?
02:59I signed the song.
03:00Told him to leave, of course.
03:02Thank you guys.
03:04I appreciate it.
03:06Welcome to the Philippines on May 30, 31.
