02:26But ika nga ni Ka Freddy at narinig ko ito mismo sa kanya, the show must go on.
02:31Kasama ho natin ngayong hapon ang isa sa pinakamalaki, pinakamainit na vocal group sa buong mundo.

02:46Naitay ka puso, please welcome, 98 Degrees!
02:52Hi.
02:55Hello, hello.
02:57Hi, hello.
02:59Thank you for making it here.
03:02Welcome to the program.
03:03Thank you for having us.
03:04How is Manila traffic?
03:06Terrible.
03:06Honestly, it's better than we remembered it with the Skyway.
03:11So this one is better.
03:12Yeah, absolutely.
03:12This one is better.
03:13Yeah, it's not bad at all.
03:14Okay, does it remind you of the, how do you call that, the traffic thing in L.A.?
03:21Good luck.
03:22Yeah, that's just every day in L.A., yeah.
03:25You know, it's just every day.
03:27You somehow get used to it, but you made it because it was meant to happen.
03:32Thank you for being here.
03:34Thank you for having us.
03:34And you're back here in the Philippines because you are doing a show.
03:38We are.
03:38We're doing two shows, in fact.
03:39This Friday and Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
03:43Two concerts, two nights in a row.
03:45So, super excited.
03:46That's 830 and 31 MOA, MOA, that's Mall of Asia.
03:50There it is.
03:5098 Degrees.
03:51There it is.
03:51Please introduce, you're Nick.
03:53I'm Nick.
03:54You're Justin.
03:54Yes.
03:55Of course.
03:55I'm Drew.
03:56You're Drew.
03:57You're brothers, right, Nick?
03:58And of course, James.
03:59Unfortunately, yes.
04:00You're welcome.
04:02You're welcome.
04:02Okay.
04:03What can we expect from this show?
04:06Well, it's going to be a lot of fun.
04:07I mean, we are so excited to finally get back here to Manila.
04:11And we've got some surprises along the way.
04:13We're going to obviously do our hits.
04:15We've got some...
04:16You have to do your hits.
04:17We're going to do...
04:18We have a collaboration with Janine Tignoso, so we're looking forward to...
04:21Janine, and there's another girl.
04:23Katrina Velarde.
04:24Katrina, I love the guest.
04:24Yes, she's amazing.
04:25I mean, both of them are incredible singers.
04:27Two great talents.
04:27Incredible talents.
04:28Very fortunate to share the stage with them.
04:30Wow.
04:31Okay.
04:31Looking forward to this concert.
04:33And why are you so loved by your Filipino fans?
04:37I'd like to pick your brains.
04:39That's a good one.
04:39Why are you so loved by your Filipino fans?
04:41We're trying to find that out.
04:42Yeah.
04:43Of course, thank God.
04:44But you have an idea as to why?
04:46Well, I think more than anywhere else in the world, people here really truly love love songs,
04:50right?
04:50That's right.
04:50And ballads.
04:51And that's kind of what we've always been known for.
04:53It's our bread and butter.
04:54So I think it's a match made in heaven.
04:57We sing love songs, and everyone here really seems to appreciate and enjoy those love songs.
05:03Like 50% of weddings I attend, I hear I do.
05:08Yes.
05:09We love it.
05:10Great honor.
05:11Let's make it 60%.
05:12We can go a bit 80, I think, this day.
05:1580%.
05:16But you're one of the most beloved groups by this country, really.
05:22And this comes from the bottom of my heart.
05:23Thank you for your songs.
05:25Thank you for your music.
05:27Thank you for music.
05:28Well, thank you.
05:29No, I appreciate it.
05:29I feel like that's another thing.
05:31Like, music is such a culture of the Filipino.
05:34It's such an ingrained part of the culture that, you know, for us, we got off the planes here
05:38in 1997, and we were instantly, like, felt like we were rock stars and embraced.
05:43So it really is a great relationship.
05:45This is our first time, you're visiting this network.
05:48You've been here some time ago.
05:51I'd like to show you this.
05:52Do we have the clip?
05:53I'd like to show you this clip.
05:55Yeah, we, I remember this clip.
05:56Can we show that one?
05:57There.
05:58That's a show called SOP, and you also had a guesting on Master Showman.
06:04Yes.
06:05Way back, wow, 1999.
06:11Do you remember?
06:12I mean, what do you remember?
06:12I wouldn't blame you guys if you don't remember anything.
06:15We actually were talking about visiting this station with Master Showman, and that was
06:19one of the first big shows we did.
06:21It was, like, a big talk show, television show.
06:23We remember the whole building and everything leading up to it.
06:26We remember the shows SOP, ASAP.
06:29We did E-Pair.
06:30We've done all these different shows here, and we remember them distinctly, like we said,
06:34because this was the first country we became very, very popular.
06:38We had a popular song out in the U.S., but our label wasn't really marketing us at the
06:43time.
06:43Our label was in flux, so we actually broke here first and then took the momentum from
06:49what we did here and the fans here back to the States.
06:52They gave us another shot in the U.S.
06:54I heard about that.
06:55I heard about it.
06:56Fascinating.
06:56It's true.
06:56Yeah.
06:57Fascinating story.
06:58You have been together for a long time now.
07:00When you do a song, like, I know you have a new album.
07:03You have a new album, Got You?
07:06Got You is one of the singles from the album.
07:07The album's called Full Circle.
07:09Full Circle, and the song is Got You.
07:11When you do a song like Got You, is it like immediately you know where you go, you know
07:18your voice, you know, your, you know, do you, is that instant?
07:23Yes, we're a true quartet, so we have first tenor, second tenor, bass, and a baritone.
07:28So for us, it's just kind of, it's naturally kind of ingrained into our DNA as a group.
07:32Right.
07:33Who covers what parts, yeah.
07:34For Got You, can you just give me a few lines so people, is it now out, right?
07:41The single is out now, yeah.
07:42You have to listen to the song.
07:44I listened to it, and it's fantastic.
07:47You can break it down for, like, Nick wrote this one, actually.
07:49Wow.
07:50Congratulations.
07:51Can't do the whole song?
07:52Wow.
07:53Save it for the concert.
07:54Amazing.
07:55You gotta, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta come to the concert.
07:56Of course he stopped before we get to come in.
07:58You got me, and I'm going home.
08:02Oh, no, thank you.
08:02Beautiful song.
08:04Beautiful song.
08:04So it's full circle.
08:07Yes.
08:07And May 30, 31, at the Mall of Asia Arena, 90 degrees, is performing, and that's this weekend.
08:15Okay.
08:16Let's talk about your Filipino connection.
08:18This is quite interesting.
08:19Jeff, your brother was actually born here.
08:23What is the story?
08:23Actually, it was my brother.
08:24It was your brother.
08:25I'm sorry, Justin.
08:26So my dad was in the Air Force, and so my parents were both here, obviously.
08:30And, yeah, my brother was born here on the day they landed on the moon, and my, both
08:34of my parents really loved.
08:35It was a 69.
08:36Yeah, 69.
08:37Okay.
08:38Yeah.
08:38And they really loved their time here, and I think they, you know, I remember we always
08:44had things from the Philippines around the house, like cool wood carvings and stuff
08:48like that.
08:49So, yeah, I think it really made an impact on them.
08:50Which wood carving is this?
08:52Not the naughty one.
08:53No, there's no naughty ones.
08:55If they had a naughty one, they didn't let us see them.
08:59Okay.
09:00And, of course, we all know, the world knows that Nick is married to a Filipina.
09:05Yes, she's half Filipina.
09:06Vanessa.
09:06She was also born here, also at Clark Air Force Base, ironically.
09:11And, yeah, and so she's actually never been back since she was just a young infant.
09:16So that's my goal is to one day bring her and our kids back to, you know, to the Philippines
09:20so she could see where she came from.
09:22Would you know where she grew up?
09:24Well, I think she moved back to the States when she was maybe just one or two years old.
09:28I mean, exactly the place here in the Philippines.
09:29I don't know.
09:30I don't know.
09:30Okay.
09:31But we would catch her once in a while cooking Filipino food, for example.
09:35She makes a mean chicken adobo.
09:37Chicken adobo.
09:38Okay.
09:38That's her go-to.
09:40She was doing lumpia one time.
09:42Was she?
09:42Yes.
09:43She was very into the manapuas.
09:45You know these?
09:46We lived in Hawaii the last three years.
09:48What is it again?
09:48They're the buns with the meat inside.
09:51I don't know if that's a Filipino thing or not, but she was very, very into that as well.
09:53What do you call it?
09:55Sticky buns?
09:56No.
09:57It's like a bun with meat inside.
10:00Shopau.
10:00Oh, there it is.
10:01Okay.
10:02She does that?
10:03She loves it.
10:04No.
10:04Wow.
10:04She likes to eat them.
10:07You guys like Filipino food?
10:10Love it.
10:11What's your favorite, Jeff?
10:12Pens it.
10:12The noodles.
10:13Because I'm normally on a low-carb diet, which is no noodles, no flour, no bread.
10:19When I come here, all I've been doing since I've been here is eating nonstop.
10:23Okay.
10:23We're doing more eating than interviews, performing.
10:26Yeah.
10:26We've seen Jeff eat more carbs since he's been here in Manila than I think I have in the last
10:3010 years combined.
10:31I love the food.
10:32Empanadas, all that stuff.
10:33Empanadas.
10:34Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:34Who has pansit now?
10:37Bring it up.
10:38Okay.
10:39But we're not just talking about pansit.
10:41You also are friends with some Filipino singers.
10:44Like Martin Rivera, I suppose.
10:47Do you know Martin?
10:47Oh, a huge Martin Rivera fan.
10:50There was some talk years ago about maybe us collaborating with him.
10:53SB19 we're fans of.
10:55They're of the younger generation.
10:57Of course, Regine Velasquez and Rachel Alejandro and Sarah Geronimo and Jay Darius.
11:04I'm a big fan of Jay Darius.
11:06He's amazing.
11:06I had the luxury of coming back here on my own and performed with South Border, got to
11:12sing Rainbow with them, which is just an amazing song.
11:15I mean, I'm just, when we came here the first time, we literally got off the plane and went
11:19to a restaurant and everybody in the restaurant could sing.
11:23And we got intimidated at how much talent is coming out of this area.
11:28It's amazing.
11:28Okay.
11:29We have a crowd right here in the studio and this doesn't happen very often.
11:32But when we come back later, we'll try to ask them to sing one of your songs.
11:39Are you guys ready?
11:41You guys ready to sing one of the songs of 98 Degrees?
11:44Oh, yeah.
11:44We're ready.
11:45We'll try that.
11:46But right now, right now, you are on a show called Fast Talk and we have to do Fast Talk.
11:52Okay?
11:53Bring it on.
11:53And I'm going to start.
11:54We do this fast, really fast.
11:56Nick, I'll start with you.

13:37Chocolates.
13:38Best time for happiness, best time for chocolates?
13:41Anytime.
13:43When you're around your family, happiness, chocolates, Easter.
13:49One word to describe your musical journey.
13:53Sultry.
13:54Oh, wow.
13:55Sultry?
13:56Oh, journey.
13:57Journey.
13:57Journey.
13:58What's your journey?
14:01Adventurous.
14:01Adventurous.
14:02That's a good one.
14:03You guys agree.
14:06Okay, we're not done yet.
14:08There are a couple of things we have to discuss.
14:09Number one, we want to know, is it true that you're collaborating with SB19?
14:14As you earlier mentioned, but you don't have to answer right now.
14:17I'd like to get your thoughts on K-pop, which is, you know, the music, K-pop, which is dominating, you know, the global scene.
14:26And during your time, and even today, who do you consider, who did you consider your biggest rival?
14:32The answer is, when we come back.
14:35Dito lamang po, sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
14:37We're back on the show, 98 Degrees.
14:50Do you want to hear your sing?
14:52Yeah!
14:53What should we sing?
14:54You want a little, should we do a little Because of You?
14:57Yeah.
14:57A little dedication to our Filipino fans?
14:59Yeah.
15:00Night Eye Kapoorza, that's May 30, 31, at the Mall of Asia Arena, 98 Degrees.
15:06What do you think of K-pop?
15:08I think it's great.
15:09I mean, I think they've kind of taken the best of the vocals, the best of the dancing.
15:14They've kind of made it into this thing that is just, it's so precise, and it is so clean.
15:19It is, it's very, very, I mean, it's more than, it's more than we could do.
15:25You know, so we definitely have a lot of respect for it.
15:28Who did or who do you consider your biggest rival?
15:31I think we always considered ourselves our biggest rival, honestly.
15:36We try to keep it internal and just always challenge ourselves to be the best version of ourselves.
15:41I think we were out in a time when, you know, obviously you had Backstreet Boys, you had NSYNC,
15:44but we always felt like we were a different kind of group from them.
15:46We were less about the dancing, less about that, and more about the vocal harmony.
15:49So I think you find a lot of fans of, like, NSYNC also felt like they could like 98 Degrees,
15:55but they didn't feel like they could like Backstreet.
15:57So we, yeah, I think we were just, we were just trying to challenge ourselves constantly,
16:02not really looking at other groups as a threat or as a challenge to us,
16:06but trying to get the best out of ourselves constantly.
16:08Yeah, we modeled ourselves after Boyz II Men.
16:10So, I mean, they're our idols, and so we really were trying to be like a Boyz II Men.
16:15Are you collaborating with SB19?
16:18Well, look, a couple of years ago when we were talking about coming here pre-pandemic,
16:22we were in talks with some of the management team of SB19.
16:25There was some interest there.
16:27And the other day I brought it up as something that was kind of on our wish list,
16:30and we've been in contact with them, and we're trying to meet up with them when we're here.
16:34So hopefully it is in the works.
16:35I mean, we have a lot of respect for what they do, the K-pop elements that they have,
16:39yet the Filipino twinge and style and vibe that they have.
16:43And we think it's kind of a perfect storm.
16:45The government kind of connects with what we do, and we'd love the opportunity.
16:48Yeah, it'd be fun.
16:49Yeah, K-pop is Korean pop.
16:51We call them, they're the biggest proponent of P-pop.
16:55P-pop, yeah.
16:55Filipino pop, yeah.
16:57Filipino pop.
16:57Once again, invite everybody, Nick.
16:59Yes, this is Friday and Saturday, May 30th and 31st at the Mall of Asia Arena.
17:03Please come have an incredible night with 98 Degrees and some of our closest friends.
17:07It's going to be a great night of music, and we are so excited to once again be back right here in the Philippines for all our fans.
17:12It's going to be great.
17:13Last question.
17:15Craziest fan moment?
17:17Well, we had a lot of those.
17:18I don't know if we can answer it.
17:19What time is this show on?
17:20Yeah, we will.
