PH Coast Guard challenges 2 Chinese ships shadowing local vessel on supply mission to Pagasa Island
Video shows Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel aboard its ship issuing a challenge on radio to two China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels that were four nautical miles away from the local civilian vessel MV Kapitan Felix Oca as it cruised to 58 nautical miles west of El Nido, Palawan. The ship was en route to Pagasa Island where it would deliver supplies to the troops stationed there on May 27, 2025. The PCG asserted that the area was within the Philippines’ 200-nautical mile exclusive economic zone (EEZ) as defined under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
