00:00The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will implement an odd-even number coding scheme along EDSA beginning Monday, June 16.
00:09The new traffic policy coincides with a partial closure of portions of EDSA for rehabilitation work, which the government aims to complete by 2027.
00:17Among the priorities in the rehabilitation are the EDSA bus lane and the southbound lane.
00:22Under this scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in odd digits will be barred from using EDSA on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
00:29Those with plate numbers ending in even digits will be restricted on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
00:34There will be no coding on Sundays.
00:37During the one-week dry run from June 16 to 22, violators will receive tickets but won't be fined.
00:43The odd-even scheme will initially be implemented 24-7, but the MMDA said it plans to introduce a window period around 10 or 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. later on.
00:53Meantime, Transportation Secretary Vince Deason assures the public that the EDSA bus lane will remain operational and additional buses along the EDSA carousel and more MRT trains will be deployed.
01:04Toll fees will also be waived for the Skyway Stage 3 segment, serving as a detour.
