Dahod (Gujarat), May 26, 2025 (ANI): Following Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting his home state, Gujarat, for the first time. He will participate in events across three districts--Dahod, Kachchh and Gandhinagar--on May 26 and 27. After addressing a public meeting on Mirzapar Road in Bhuj, Kachchh, he will pay a visit to the revered Mata Ashapura Temple. Notably, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the first 9000 HP locomotive engine manufactured at the railway production unit established in Dahod, which was built with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore. The railway factory in Dahod, established under the PPP model, is set to manufacture 1,200 engines over the next 10 years, with plans to export them both domestically and internationally. These locomotive engines will soon be produced entirely under the 100% Make in India initiative. A key feature of these engines is their ability to carry cargo weighing up to 4,600 tonnes. For the first time, the engines will be equipped with air conditioning and a toilet facility for the driver. Additionally, an advanced cover system has been installed to enhance safety and prevent accidents. Built at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore, the Dahod factory is currently producing four engines, all of which will proudly bear the label "Manufactured In Dahod." This project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for nearly 10,000 people in Dahod and nearby regions, providing a significant boost to the local economy. In addition, the various components required for locomotive production by the multinational company that secured the contract as the lowest bidder will open up business opportunities for suppliers in the power sector as well as small and medium-sized engineering firms.

01:49Certainly, the project we have made up to seven months,
01:53we have started in August 24 and now we are ready to go to the first locomotive
02:04I think you can see this workshop
02:28I think you can see this workshop
02:32that is very very important or manufacturing plan different stages
02:43that is very important while we have made this locomotive here so 90% as on even first
03:00locomotive 90% is indigenous only a few parts are imported as of now and that too in the next
03:09four to four to five years those also will be indigenized as you can see right now behind me
03:16is the first locomotive that has been manufactured at this workshop this dahoud locomotive manufacturing
03:26workshop the foundation stone was laid just a couple of years back in 2022 to be precise
03:34and within three years as we can see this production center is completely ready ready to be inaugurated
03:41shortly so so yes as far as the capacity of this workshop is concerned per year we plan to produce
03:54around 120 locomotives but if there is a need we can also increase this production capacity to almost
04:02150 as of now we have planned that for during the over the next 11 years we'll be producing around
04:101200 locomotives from this workshop some of these locomotives they'll be used within india and most
04:20importantly many of these locomotives they'll also be exported to other parts of the world as you can
04:26see here in this workshop we have two uh you know production uh facilities for two different uh gauge systems
04:34we have the our own normal gauge that we use in india and the standard gauge system uh locomotives can also be produced
04:41so uh so over the coming years we'll be exporting these locomotives to those countries which use standard gauge uh system of railways
04:50and uh we expect to export to countries like africa to europe to our uh uh neighboring countries as well
04:58so these locomotive engines will soon be produced entirely under the 100 percent make in india initiative
05:08a key feature of these engines is their ability to carry cargo weighing up to 4 600 tons
05:15for the first time the engines will be equipped with air conditioning and a toilet facility for the driver
05:25additionally an advanced cover system has been installed to enhance safety and prevent accidents
