00:00I agree with the storm chaser meteorologist Tony Laubach says it's a
00:03fitting way to move into the final week of May after what's already been a very
00:06active month for severe storms. May is the climatological peak of severe weather
00:13season and this May certainly has lived up to the building with multiple severe
00:16weather events over the last couple of weeks that have included some impactful
00:20even deadly tornadoes across the central part of the United States. That severe
00:23weather threat continues today albeit on a much lower level and I will be
00:27tracking storms here in my backyard in northeast Colorado. We're expecting
00:31development throughout the afternoon and evening with storms moving southeast
00:34across the northeast corner of the state. Cities like Sterling, Julesburg, Akron,
00:38Ray, Yuma, even Burlington getting in on the act as those storms will eventually
00:43work their way into western Kansas as we get later into the overnight hours
00:46tonight. I will be tracking those storms throughout the day today and setting up
00:50for what might be a cooler than normal weekend here along the Colorado front
00:54range. Areas from Denver north could be looking at cooler temperatures and
00:58dreary conditions unfortunately for the Memorial Day weekend which may hinder
01:01some of your outside plans but the good news that should mitigate the severe
01:04weather threat just a little bit but it is still May so you want to make sure
01:08you've got that AccuWeather app handy and have multiple ways to receive
01:11warnings just in case one of those storms gets a little rowdy in your neck of
01:14the woods. Stay weather aware this holiday weekend and most of all be safe
01:19reporting for AccuWeather in Brush Colorado I'm meteorologist Tony Laubach.
