00:00Right now from Cimarron County and Oklahoma, Tony.
00:07Supercell for the better part of the last couple hours, you're seeing the leading edge,
00:12kind of the shelf cloud of this storm as it is making its approach here to the U.S. 287
00:16north of Boise City. For 20 years I have been pronouncing it wrong.
00:20Thank you, Damian, for the correction on that. But this is first, really the first
00:23good view we've had under this storm as we've been kind of waiting for it to get off the Raton Mesa.
00:28This would be between the towns of Campo, Colorado and north of
00:32Boise City, Oklahoma. So basically kind of paralleling the
00:35Colorado-Oklahoma line here in the Oklahoma Panhandle. Expecting some pretty
00:40big hail out of this. Currently carrying a tornado warning for three inch diameter
00:44hail and radar indicated rotation. Obviously we've got a pretty good view
00:48under the storm. Certainly do not see anything tornadic at this point. So right now my big concern
00:52for this, especially for folks that are making that drive, this is a very busy stretch, especially
00:56for semi-trucks, making the journey here along 287, 385 between Boise City and Campo.
01:02We'll show you the radar here. Obviously, as we mentioned last hour, we're really kind of far
01:07away from the radars at this point. Both Amarillo and Pueblo are about equidistance from this. So
01:12it's tough to get a good bearing exactly where the worst of this core is. A lot of this we're
01:17tracking visually and I think we're still probably going to see that core push over this area here
01:22over the next 20 or so minutes and it's going to bring quite a bit of hail and probably some large
01:27hail with that as well. So if you are kind of stopping at truck stops there from Springfield to
01:32Campo or Boise City moving north, I would certainly recommend you just kind of hang out there. This
01:37storm will pass harmlessly between those two areas. That is the good news. So really kind of moving
01:42into the middle of nowhere right now. But unfortunately, we don't have that luxury for
01:48forever. The storm's kind of drifting east-southeast. So over toward Keys, that is a particular town that
01:56might have some issues. And wouldn't exactly write off Elkhart or Guymon, Elkhart, Kansas,
02:02there in the extreme southwest corner of Kansas, or Guymon, Oklahoma, which is the next significant
02:07town in the Oklahoma panhandle off to the east. Certainly want to keep an eye on this storm here.
02:12We do have concern that as the storm continues to move east and we get later into the evening,
02:17the tornado potential on this could ramp up and we could certainly start to see that impacting some
02:22folks the further east we get into the Oklahoma panhandle. So we're going to continue to track
02:27this storm here through the evening right now. It remains discreet, so it does have the air all to
02:31itself. We'll see exactly how this continues to evolve as we go through the evening. But again,
02:36north of Boyce City, south of Campo in Springfield, Colorado, that is the area of concern. So again,
02:43mainly an issue to travelers, especially the truckers. This is a huge trucking route here.
02:47So if you're watching us from one of the truck stops in those areas, hang tight and we'll let you
02:53know when this is clear.
