00:00What we thought at The Points Guy is that we were going to see a drop-off in demand this summer,
00:04but volumes are actually basically year over year about the same as they were.
00:09So we're not seeing a huge fall-off in demand.
00:12In fact, AAA believes that 45 million Americans are going to travel 50 miles or more this year.
00:19That would actually be a record.
00:21So, you know, there might be some economic headwinds,
00:24but so far it's not really dulling Americans' desire for travel.
00:28Now, that said, some of these trips were booked before.
00:31We saw some of the economic headwinds that we're seeing,
00:34but I think it's going to be a huge summer again for travel.
00:38I think people should be prepared for delays and cancellations.
00:41We've got air traffic control problems, obviously, at Newark.
00:44That's slowing things down.
00:45But ATC issues are going on across the country.
00:48It's not just Newark.
00:49In fact, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned that these problems at Newark could spread across the country.
00:55So that's something to be very on top of.
00:57That said, some of the issues we've seen over the previous summers have gone away.
01:01So there's no shortage of pilots, flight attendants, airport workers.
01:06So on that sense, it's actually a good news story.
01:09The problem remains air traffic controllers.
01:11That's been an ongoing issue.
01:12That will remain an issue for the next several years.
01:15But just have a backup plan in mind if you're traveling this summer.
01:19Know what other airlines fly the route that you want to fly.
01:21You know, use a car to book the trip that has travel insurance protections.
01:27And you want to just be prepared.
