00:18Yes, I'm very happy to took some time off, a couple of days, I'm very happy to be here and
00:24obviously Grand Slams are always different, so we try to prepare the opponent for the first round match,
00:35so we try to understand what's working on these courts and what not. I'm just very happy to be here.
00:41Hi, we're both from Danish media. I saw some pictures of you walking around in Copenhagen with a girl this week.
00:58I just wondered what you were doing in Copenhagen and who the girl was?
01:02No, it was no girl. I had to do some business, a couple of photoshootings there and that's it. Nothing else.
01:13Just following up on that, just wanted to know what you think about Copenhagen?
01:18Obviously a big thing in Denmark that the best players in the world were coming to Denmark.
01:22Well, I've been there many years ago, I played a junior tournament there, it was in winter.
01:29And now, you know, visiting, it was nice. I really loved the city. It's a very calm city which I love.
01:40I was there only one day, so I didn't see so much because I had to do some stuff and a lot of pictures.
01:48But all the rest, it was amazing. It was a very nice experience.
01:54Yeah, you have everything. You have nice parks, you know, where you realise you're not even in a big city.
02:01And then you go out and you have everything, so it's... Yeah, it was very nice.
02:07Janik, could I ask you about the meeting between some top ten players in the Grand Slams yesterday?
02:13Were you there and what is it that you're hoping to achieve and what sort of response are you hoping for from the Grand Slams?
02:19I don't want to give any answer on that. We've been some players there talking with the Grand Slams.
02:33I'm trying to understand a couple of things, but I won't give any information.
02:38I just wondered how you felt physically after the first tournament back in a little while,
02:43and how you're then going to kind of step up the preparations to get ready for playing best of five after a long time out.
02:49It's going to be different. I felt in Rome that we've had some stats from that tournament,
02:56where some were good, some were not there where I want to be.
03:00The stats were exactly how I felt on court, so there is a lot of room to improve.
03:08Hopefully we are on time to make small changes for here.
03:13There are no miracles, no. I need some time. Matches are different than practice sessions.
03:22But yeah, we are working hard, trying to reach the physical level I would like to and how I would like to feel on court.
03:31Of course it pops into the tennis part, which is a little bit different.
03:36But best of five is going to be a great test for me, trying to understand where I am.
03:41Yeah, let's see how my body will respond here.
03:47Were those stats physical?
03:49Yeah, and also tennis-wise.
03:52You know, comparing the speed and then the spin, also how fast I'm running,
04:00and then the acceleration and, you know, these kind of stats.
04:03Hello, Yannick. Do you feel the tournament in Rome can give you some confidence to succeed in Paris?
04:10Let's see. For sure it was great, after three months, coming back, making final.
04:17It was my first big final on clay, which is not too underrated,
04:23because, you know, we worked a lot for that, but also it was a great feeling to be part of this final.
04:31We've seen a couple of things where I can improve, and Grand Slams are just different.
04:37You know, you have to be mentally ready, physically too, trying to use the right energy.
04:44It's all about being consistent and solid.
04:50Yeah, let's see if I can do that.
04:53Hi, Yannick.
04:55May I ask you about your YouTube channel? I'm very curious about why you decided to start one,
05:02what do you get from it, and how do you, because you get some feedback from people,
05:06and sometimes the players, they prefer being in their bubbles, how do you deal with that?
05:10Yeah, I feel like we are tennis players, and that always has our priority, you know.
05:17But in another way, I feel like the fans don't know how I am as a person.
05:23I'm very serious on court, but off court, I like to joke around, I like to laugh, I like to smile.
05:32So, you know, trying to, and that people understand that I'm not like the machine, you know.
05:39I'm not, I'm just a normal person like anyone else.
05:45And, yeah, so we started this channel, then we're going to post a couple of funny clips at times,
05:56also that you see, also maybe the backstage of how we prepare some tournaments,
06:02that it's, that we invest a lot of time, you know, to be in these levels where we play.
06:08So, yeah, for me that was very important.
06:12Hello.
06:13Hi, Yannick.
06:14Those stats you mentioned, looking after Rome.
06:17Is that something you always are monitoring, those numbers with your coaches, or maybe on your own?
06:24And how helpful do you find those kinds of numbers, or do you prefer when you're on a court, just play with feel?
06:34No, when you, we play on court, we, with tennis players, we always like to play with, with what we feel.
06:39Because we don't have second choices when we step on court.
06:43It's, you know, some days where you feel good, some days where you don't feel that well,
06:47but you always have to try to find a solution.
06:50For me these steps, these steps were very important because I missed all my feedback, you know, in three months.
06:57I don't know exactly how I was playing, if the shots were on the right pace or not, if I'm moving well or not.
07:05Many things, you know.
07:07And also we took one of the first matches in Monaco last year, because that was the first clay tournament.
07:15And then we took the stats from this first tournament on clay again, you know, trying to understand where I am.
07:23And, yeah, now we have a big picture, we know where we have to work on, which was very useful.
07:28As I said, the goal there was to win a couple of matches, and I ended up in the final, which is a huge extra for me.
07:35And hopefully this can give me then some confidence for here in Paris.
07:39Last one?
07:41Hi.
07:42One of the big moments of the tournament will be the ceremony for Nadal.
07:47Can you tell us why he was so strong on clay?
07:52I think we all know the answer, no?
07:55There is not so much to say.
07:58The most successful player on this surface, without a doubt.
08:03He's moving incredibly well on the clay.
08:07His positioning on court, amazing.
08:10Using a lot of spin, physical shape, always perfect.
08:15So there are many, many things together, you know.
08:18But mostly the mental strength, you know.
08:22He had trying to understand every situation on the court.
08:26He's the player who knows here the centre court better than anyone else.
08:31And he deserves an amazing ceremony.
08:36But not only because of the player he is, but also how he behaved on courts.
08:43He gave us so many things, especially for our generation and even younger,
08:47where we looked up to.
08:49And being humble and being a successful tennis player, he showed that this is possible.
08:54And, yeah, I was lucky to know him a little bit better.
09:00I made, you know, a lot of practice sessions with him.
09:03And he is exactly how you guys see him.
09:07He's not faking anything.
09:09He is amazing.
09:11So, yeah, a role model for all of us.
09:15I think we all have to be very lucky to be in this era here, you know.
09:20To see this Rafa with Roger and Novak.
09:24It's amazing, you know.
09:26I feel very fortunate to be here.
09:30Last minute.
09:31You get to come back from your suspension in Rome in front of a very positive, supportive crowd.
09:40And I'm wondering how you think it's going to be here in Paris with the crowd,
09:43especially because you're playing French players in the first round
09:46and definitely the second round if you make the second round.
09:48So, how do you think it's going to be in front of a different sort of atmosphere
09:52than you had at home?
09:53It's definitely going to be different.
09:55I know that.
09:57But I don't think they have something against me.
10:03It's right that they support the players who are from here, who are local here.
10:09It's the same when I play against American players in the US Open.
10:13So, it's normal.
10:16You know, I got some amazing atmosphere in Rome because I'm Italian.
10:23And it's right that the players who play in this city or country,
10:31that they got more support.
10:33So, I know that.
10:34Last year, I played also against some French players here.
10:37So, I know a little bit what to expect.
10:40Different moment because whatever happened, happens.
10:44So, let's see.
10:46I cannot answer that question.
