Kolkata (West Bengal), May 23 2025 (ANI): Former National Security Advisor (NSA) MK Narayanan says, the ties between India and Bangladesh are much stronger. People may try to take advantage, but I think India has the strength, and we can provide what Bangladesh wants. There are internal problems in Bangladesh, and those can be overcome. I think India can give a helping hand in that. For us, Bangladesh is an important partner. 00:00I think India and Bangladesh have to be friends, not merely friends, they need to be extremely close friends.
00:07And I do hope that efforts will be made to improve relations between India and Bangladesh
00:12and bring it back to the situation that has existed previously.
00:17So the way USA or China is intervening to Bangladesh in terms of infrastructure,
00:24how do you see the situation in terms of security aspect to India?
00:28I think, I mean, I know that people talk of a color revolution in Bangladesh, etc.
00:36I think that it appears a little far-fetched.
00:40But whoever it may be wanted, I think the ties between Bangladesh and India are much stronger than the ties between.
00:47People might try to, other countries may try to take advantage.
00:50But I think India has the strength, India has the strength, and India is also strong today,
00:55and therefore we can provide whatever Bangladesh wants.
00:59There are internal problems in Bangladesh, but those can be overcome.
01:05And I think India can give a helping hand in these matters.
01:09So I think for us, Bangladesh is a very important part of our friends and allies.
01:15But the way the political relationship between India and Bangladesh is deteriorating, in terms of business?
01:23I mean, always with neighbors you have problems.
01:28And it is for the bigger country, namely India, to show a degree of magnitude and be magnanimous in dealing with this problem.
01:35I do not think that India and Bangladesh can ever be unfriendly, if I might say so.
01:44But I am sure that we can be very close neighbors and good friends.
01:47And we should not allow other countries to interfere.
01:50But I don't think that the effort is that the United States or any other country, or China,
01:57is trying to bring about further differences between India and Bangladesh.
02:02I think India and Bangladesh are tied together by everything.
02:07I mean, in terms of the language and history and everything.
02:11But we need both sides meet.
02:13But certainly the bigger country, India, has to show the magnanimity that is required in the institution.
