US House narrowly passes sweeping tax-cut bill, sends on to Senate

The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives narrowly passed a sweeping tax and spending bill that would enact much of President Donald Trump's policy agenda on May 22 and saddle the country with trillions of dollars in debt.  A total of 215 representatives voted yes while 214 against it with one answering present. 00:07The bill is passed.

00:16We look forward to the Senate's timely consideration of this once-in-a-generation legislation.

00:21We stand ready to continue our work together to deliver on the one big, beautiful bill,

00:26as President Trump named it himself.

00:28We're going to send that to his desk.

00:30We're going to get there by Independence Day on July 4th,

00:33and we are going to celebrate a new golden age in America.

00:37The timetable is important.

00:38We also have the debt ceiling approaching.

00:40We've got the relief that the people need, and the sooner they feel that relief, the better.

00:45So we did our job, rolled up our sleeves, got it done, and we're really proud of that effort.

00:48We knew we had to prevent a massive tax increase, so we put it in the bill.

00:52We knew we needed to secure America's border, as President Trump ran on all across this country

00:59and won the election on, and we put it in this bill.

01:03We ran on and said we would produce more American energy, and we put it in this bill.

01:10All the things that we knew we needed to do to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in government,

01:16focus on those families who are struggling.

01:19All of that is in this one big, beautiful bill.

01:22And yes, now the House has come together and passed this bill.
