00:00Lenora Sellers has the highest potential of any 2026 quarterback prospect.
00:05Stay tuned to find out why he could be the first overall pick.
00:12Ryan, Lenora Sellers is one of the most exciting players to watch in the 2026 NFL draft class.
00:20Why should NFL fans and college football fans know more about him?
00:24I mean, he's one of the most uniquely gifted athletes that we've seen at the quarterback position.
00:30I mean, when you start thinking about like historical comps for like a six foot three, 240 plus pound dude that can run the way he can and has a strong arm, like names like Cam Newton are going to come up.
00:40I don't say Culpepper is another name as far as like the height, weight, athleticism, arm strength perspective, like all those historical names are going to come up because you just don't see guys that look like Lenora Sellers, right?
00:52Like a guy that is as densely put together, has a big of an arm, is a guy that also could just be a major running threat for a team that just wanted to exclusively utilize that more than the passing prowess.
01:04So upside is tremendous.
01:05We're talking about a historically gifted player that if he hits his ceiling could be a dynamic player, not only in the college level, but could be a high end NFL draft pick.
01:14Yeah, he's an elite athlete.
01:16That's the starting point of the conversation.
01:18And I think for a lot of bad NFL teams that are looking for somebody to build around, having a player who is going to still need to develop as a passer, there's things that he needs to work on, which I'm sure we're going to address.
01:30But knowing that in his rookie season in the NFL, he can replicate the things that he did his first year as a starter at South Carolina is enticing.
01:39Maybe he goes to a team that doesn't have the receivers or the offensive line.
01:43For him to be able to stand in the pocket, to be attacked by defenders, to break those sacks and then turn those plays into 15 yard gains, that is unheard of.
01:54And that is what NFL teams are going to say to themselves, well, if we're bad this year, at least Lenoris can completely bail us out because he is that tough in the pocket.
02:04I think also we have to talk about, I mean, his arm, he can rip the ball.
02:09He has some of the craziest arm strength in the class, needs to improve the touch because he throws a lot of those short routes with the same speed that he throws his deep balls.
02:18But the arm strength is something that you just don't come by coupled with the athleticism.
02:24If he, if he was just his size and the arm talent perspective, like a lot of teams would be super excited about building around Lenoris Sellers.
02:32But then the athleticism that he brings to the table, I, and first and foremost, I want people to understand this is a pocket quarterback who just happens to be a dynamic athlete as well.
02:40Like if you pop on like the LSU tape in 2024, him running a quarterback power for a huge touchdown run, you see him breaking tackles against the Clemson dudes up front and be able to extend for long gains as a runner.
02:53Like he has that component to him, but the more enticing part for me was you saw from game one last year to the end of the season, Sellers had incredible improvements as a pure pocket quarterback.
03:05You saw him be more decisive. You saw the ball come out a little bit faster. You saw the touch and accuracy improve.
03:11So I'm excited to see what he does in year two as a starter, because you saw incremental improvements throughout the 2024 season, his first year as a starter.
03:18I want our listeners to understand that that is always going to be the most important talking point for any prospect.
03:27And it's one that we bring up on a recurring basis when we notice it is that if a guy can get better from game one to the end of the season, that is the most elite trait improvement, just general, natural ability to understand what he needs to do differently on a week to week basis to get better.
03:47That they're just able to, through experience, get better as a playmaker, as a game-changing threat.
03:54That is what makes Lenora Sellers so, so exciting. He is a recruit. Let's talk about his background really quickly here.
04:01He was pretty under-recruited. He was a four-star recruit. He was the number 18 quarterback per the 247 Sports Composites, number four kid in the state of South Carolina.
04:11But the reason why I say he was under-recruited, this is a guy who, in his recruiting class in 2023, should have been much higher than some of the other names that have not gone on to do anything.
04:21He should have been considered to be a very high four-star, maybe even a five-star, with how athletically freakish he is.
04:28It's the balance in recruiting of liking the floor of a player, but also kind of understanding the ceiling.
04:35And I think Sellers was more of, coming out of high school, was a much more raw player, comparative to some players that were in that recruiting class,
04:42which is why he was rated as the number 256 overall player on the composite number 18 quarterback, is because the ceiling was always there.
04:49And I think that anybody that saw his huddle highlight tape coming out of the state of South Carolina, you could see it's all there from a pure talent perspective.
04:57But there were just some other kids in the class that were deemed as more college-ready guys that maybe could play year one, year two at a more understandable level than what Sellers is.
05:06Sellers was viewed as a little bit of a wild card, which is why he ultimately went under-recruited to a degree.
05:11But luckily for the Gamecocks, they were able to keep the very talented quarterback in the state, and now he's developed into one of the best dole throw quarterbacks in all of college football.
05:21He will be very exciting to track this upcoming season.
