00:00Good morning. This is Congressman Steve Lynch, 8th Congressional District. We have gone all night here. It is now 6.30 in the morning. The sun is coming up and we're now taking the votes on the reconciliation bill that would, if it passes, make all of those cuts to so many programs, including Medicaid,
00:28Medicare as well, about $500 billion to cuts to Medicare, as well as cuts to veterans health, health care, veteran services, laying off about 325,000 federal employees, including the ones that were squeezed out by early
00:58retirement programs that were forced upon them. And the cuts to, you know, the supplemental nutrition assistance program cuts to Head Start and others.
01:19I'm not quite sure how this vote is going to go. We'll have to watch. It's in progress now on a motion to recommit. But if it is to pass, it will have to go to the Senate. And that's where the Democrats in the Senate will take up the fight to try to defeat this bill and force Republicans to actually sit down with Democrats and work through some of these issues.
01:48We do need to rebalance our deficit. We need to figure that out. That's a real problem. But the solution is not, you know, cutting Medicaid and Medicare and, you know, forcing people who are the most vulnerable to bear the burden while
02:12they pass a $3.8 trillion tax cut for the richest people in this country. That's just not right. I will keep you informed. Thank you.
