00:00now with bristol rovers relegated to league two it's obviously a very difficult situation for
00:07them to navigate funds and ensure that they do come right back up to league one obviously daryl
00:13clark is now behind the wheel returning for another spell at the club has a great you know
00:18connection with the fan base as well um in terms of the summer window it's obviously a massive
00:23summer it's obviously a summer where um you know they're going to have to really get things right
00:29in terms of a rebuild in terms of you know aiming to come right back up to league one
00:33maybe it's not the best time for them to do so maybe it's sort of a chance to build a project to
00:39slowly get things together in terms of a summer window and you know build some groundwork build
00:44something to work off for daryl clark again you know he's a manager who is um you know steeped in
00:49experience and in terms of of getting clubs promoted he's done it before he hopes to do it again
00:54obviously um in terms of their summer window dan our bristol uh correspondent let's have a look at
01:01bristol rovers you know what are they going to have to spend how are they going to navigate this window
01:05how important is the window for them as well um to ensure that they do you know try and and really
01:11fight at the very very top of league two next season obviously a massive massive summer ahead uh what
01:17are your thoughts going into it how are gas fans feeling as well in terms of of the the challenges
01:22ahead because it's going to be a big summer and one they certainly have to get right yes charles
01:27they certainly do have to get it right they do not want to be languishing around in league two for long
01:33of course they they had all that hard work getting into league one just a couple of years ago and then
01:37obviously it's all gone now because they're back in league two but i think that as a club certainly
01:43they've progressed in the sense that they know now what it takes to get back there probably sooner
01:47rather than later but obviously that that's all depending on what happens off the field during the
01:51summer and then on the field for the season to come but of course that's a bit too far ahead so
01:56we'll look now just at this summer and what they need to do obviously the first big signing they've
02:00made as we've already discussed in in great length already is is the appointment of daryl clark
02:06as manager the second time he's been at the club of course as well and the fact that he's got that
02:11rapport with the supporters the affinity with the fans plays into this little feel-good factor that he's
02:17brought back with him to the club uh with his appointment and so that's in itself was the
02:22number one signing i think that they needed to get right uh following the departure of inigo
02:27coltron at the end of the season just gone following the relegation and then it depends on you know which
02:33players are wanting to stay and be part of this fight to get them back and and who would rather be
02:38sold and move on so that in itself would need to be worked out of course we haven't got to that stage
02:44yet because the transfer window isn't open yet so it depends on you know who is moved on who has
02:49moved on for money and and how much of that can be reinvested as as well as how much is already
02:53available in terms of spending this summer from the ownership board so it will be an interesting
02:59summer i think obviously towards the end of last season goals completely dried up because of course
03:05they lost so many games in a row so new strikers have to be a must in terms of what they bring into
03:11the club they need some new firepower and not just firepower who can cope in league two they also need
03:16firepower who can play at that level but also make that step up if they are to go up straight away as
03:22well they need versatile players who are quality who can play at league two and show their quality
03:27off at that level but also be capable of making that step up back to league one should they achieve
03:31their goal of promotion because daryl clark's made it very clear that he just wants to win that's why
03:36he's back yes he has the affinity with the supporters and that's was an encouragement but
03:41ultimately he he loves the club and loves what it's about but he wants to win that's why he's there
03:46and of course as i say he was the most important signing of the summer i think in terms of creating
03:51the feel good factor at the club once again after that though obviously i've mentioned the strike force
03:56and then they were conceding too many goals as well so perhaps if it's defensive line midfielders or
04:01just defenders in themselves they need to sort out the defense because in the last season they
04:06were conceding too many yes you could argue they're taking a step down now so the threat and the
04:10standards won't be quite as high but that doesn't mean you can't invest in those areas to make sure
04:15that they're they're watertight and as i said with the strikers as well that they're good enough to make
04:21that jump back up to league one if and when they return to england's third tier so a huge summer ahead
04:27for bristol rovers and daryl clark and ricky martin of course the director of football in terms of
04:32getting it right off the field so that when the on-field business kicks off back again in august
04:38in the best possible place to hit the ground running and get the season right
