Maxine Dexter Decries Burden To Mothers And Families With Looming Medicaid Cuts Of GOP Budget Bill

00:00Mr. Speaker, I request unanimous consent to address the House for one minute and revise and extend my remarks.

00:10Mr. Speaker, of all the titles I hold, the most important is Mom.

00:17Like fierce fighting mothers across this country, we want a better future, a safer future for our children.

00:25Like Tiffany George, a courageous mother in Hood River who has two beautiful children, Wiley and June.

00:33Wiley, her youngest, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at 18 months.

00:39Very quickly, Tiffany and her husband were overwhelmed with medical bills, doctor visits, therapies, medical equipment, and hospital visits.

00:49Ten hospital visits almost put them into bankruptcy. Medicaid was a lifeline.

00:55Without Medicaid, Wiley's lifesaving medications would cost $9,000 a month. $9,000.

01:03Democrats are united against this cruel Republican budget because we are willing to fight for families, for their future, for their health.

01:14Without food stamps, without health care, children like Wiley will suffer. Families will be pushed to the brink.

01:22I am here fighting every day for Tiffany, for Wiley, and every mother and American family who deserves that stability.
