Avon and Somerset Police have formally apologised to residents in Barton Hill

following the controversial overnight installation of new traffic infrastructure earlier this year.

The incident centres on the East Bristol Liverpool Neighbourhood Road scheme,

a six-month trial introduced by Bristol City Council to reduce through traffic and promote walking and cycling.

The timing of the work carried out in the early hours sparked anger from some residents

At a community meeting held on Thursday 15th May, Deputy Chief Constable John Riley apologised for the handling of the operation

Residents like Firmont Farah from nearby Barton House said that many felt excluded from the process

The council has said that no fines will be issued immediately for vehicles passing through the bus gates
