00:00U.S. President Donald Trump confronted his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa
00:04with baseless allegations of a genocide on white farmers in an Oval Office meeting.
00:10Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the war on Gaza will end with the Palestinian territory
00:16being under complete Israeli security control.
00:20EU Foreign Chief Kaya Callas has called on Israel to investigate
00:24after IDF troops fired shots near a delegation of foreign diplomats in the West Bank.
00:30A pro-Kremlin former Ukrainian politician was shot dead in Madrid
00:34while dropping his children off to school.
00:41U.S. President Donald Trump hosted his visiting South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House.
00:48The meeting, at least for Ramaphosa, was aimed at resetting strained U.S.-South African ties.
00:53But Trump used the meeting to confront Ramaphosa over baseless allegations
00:58of systematic killing of white farmers.
01:01These are articles over the last few days.
01:04Death of people.
01:08Death.
01:09Death.
01:11Death.
01:12Horrible death.
01:15Death.
01:16I must tell you, Mr. President, we have had a tremendous number of people,
01:20especially since they've seen this,
01:21generally they're white farmers and they're fleeing South Africa.
01:27And it's a very sad thing to see.
01:30But I hope we can have an explanation of that.
01:34Ramaphosa, eager to not feature in a repeat of an Oval Office showdown
01:38like that of Zelensky's in February,
01:40de-escalated as he countered Trump's claims.
01:43I really would like us to talk about and talk about it very calmly.
01:48We were taught by Nelson Mandela that whenever there are problems,
01:53people need to sit down around a table and talk about it.
01:56It will take President Trump listening to the voices of South Africans,
02:03some of whom are his good friends, like those who are here.
02:07When we have talks between us at a quiet table,
02:11it will take President Trump to listen to them.
02:15Despite the heated exchange in which Trump played videos on a large TV
02:19of an opposition party leader, Julius Malema, leading a controversial chant,
02:23he invited Ramaphosa and his team to a private lunch for further discussions.
02:28Following the meeting, Ramaphosa downplayed Trump's criticisms,
02:32adding that their private meeting was not centered around his concern
02:35regarding white farmers.
02:41Benjamin Netanyahu says the war on Gaza will continue
02:45and end with the Palestinian territory being under complete Israeli security control.
02:50In a press conference late on Wednesday,
02:53the Israeli leader noted that despite mounting global pressure,
02:56the war will only end when Israel achieves its objectives.
03:00Netanyahu says that fighting will continue until all hostages are released
03:04and with ensuring Gaza's full disarmament and the complete destruction of Hamas.
03:09He also stressed that after ensuring these goals are realized,
03:13Israel will proceed with U.S. President Donald Trump's controversial post-war plans.
03:18Trump had previously proposed that all of Gaza's residents are to be resettled
03:22in neighboring countries, followed by the U.S., quote,
03:25taking ownership of the enclave.
03:27The plan was met with global criticism, with many countries refusing the proposal,
03:33stressing that Gaza is Palestinian and should be for the Palestinians.
03:37Netanyahu also stated that he is open to a temporary ceasefire to release the remaining hostages,
03:43of which Israel believes 20 of the 58 are still alive.
03:46EU foreign chief Kaya Kalas has called on Israel to investigate
03:56after IDF troops fired what they said were warning shots
03:59near a delegation of foreign diplomats in the West Bank.
04:02We definitely call on Israel to investigate this incident
04:08and also held these accountable who are responsible for this
04:15and any threats on diplomats' lives are unacceptable.
04:19The group of regional, European and Western diplomats
04:22were standing near the entrance of the Janine refugee camp when the gunshots started.
04:27Janine has been the site of Israel's widespread crackdown
04:30against West Bank militants since earlier this year.
04:32which has displaced tens of thousands of residents.
04:36The Israeli military said the visit had been approved,
04:39but the delegation deviated from the approved route
04:41and later apologized for the incident.
04:44Several European foreign ministers, including from Italy, France and Portugal,
04:49have summoned the Israeli ambassadors in their countries for an explanation.
04:55Foreign ministers from the European Union and the African Union, EU,
04:59on Wednesday vowed to strengthen cooperation for peace, security and economic partnership.
05:06The commitment came at the EU-EU foreign ministerial meeting in Brussels,
05:11which the European Council said took stock of progress made since the last summit in 2022.
05:17The foreign affairs ministers of the European Union and the African Union have met for the third time.
05:23The last time a meeting like this was held, Russia had not invaded its neighbor, Ukraine.
05:29The war in Sudan had not began, and France, a leading member of the EU,
05:33had not lost its influence in the Sahel, where its military was forced out last year.
05:39But even more, both the EU and the EU are now confronted with a rapidly changing geopolitical situation.
05:46If we take the question of peace and security, we are all in front of a situation of conflict,
05:54whether it be in Africa or Europe, as well as in Europe.
05:57And so we have to necessarily find a solution to this conflict.
06:04EU foreign policy chief Kaya Callas lamented Russia's growing misinformation campaign in Africa,
06:10saying though it was hard to counter, the European Union will not give up the fight.
06:15It is true that we have the fight of narratives everywhere,
06:19and this misinformation is one of the tools that Russia is using, especially in Africa.
06:27We have to fight the misinformation and foreign malign influence all the time,
06:35but it is, of course, increasingly hard.
06:38Foreign ministers from both continents also committed to mediation efforts for ending the war in Sudan,
06:44According to the EU, Africa remains a geopolitical priority for the continent
06:49at a time of increased geopolitical volatility.
06:57The Polish parliament has approved the extension of legislation
07:01that temporarily suspends the right to asylum for migrants entering the country through its border with Belarus.
07:07Prime Minister Donald Tusk defended the need to extend the law,
07:13which he has framed as necessary for national security.
07:17He and his government have argued that Moscow and Minsk are deliberately encouraging migrants
07:22to cross in an attempt to destabilize Europe.
07:25The legislation has been widely criticized by the government,
07:55by human rights groups, which have warned that it is not compatible with either international
08:00or European asylum law. Rights groups estimate that hundreds have died at the Poland-Belarus
08:06border since 2021, with thousands said to have been subject to illegal and violent pushbacks
08:12by Polish border guards.
08:17Former Ukrainian politician Andrey Portnov was shot dead outside a US school in a wealthy
08:23suburb of Madrid, according to Spanish authorities.
08:27The 52-year-old once served as a top aide to Ukraine's former pro-Russian President Viktor
08:34Yanukovych, who notoriously withdrew from signing an association agreement with the EU, sparking
08:40the deadly Your Maiden protests of 2013 and 2014.
08:45Portnov was reportedly dropping off his children when gunmen opened fire, hitting him multiple
08:51times.
08:52The police received a call and rushed to the scene.
08:55He presented unimpatible lesions with life, caused by at least three fires of fire, which
09:02could only confirm the death of this person.
09:08During Yanukovych's presidency, Portnov was seen as a pro-Kremlin figure and helped draft
09:14laws targeting the Euro Maiden protest movements.
09:18After Yanukovych fled to Russia, Portnov was sanctioned by Western governments for his actions
09:24as part of the former administration.
09:28The UK government announced it will be suspending free trade negotiations with Israel and announced
09:44sanctions on settlements in the West Bank.
09:46The UK's Foreign Secretary David Lammy has criticized Israel's military actions in Gaza, as well
09:53as violence by Israeli settlers.
09:56I'm announcing that we have suspended negotiations with this Israeli government on a new free
10:02trade agreement.
10:05We will be reviewing cooperation with them under the 2030 bilateral roadmap.
10:11The Netanyahu's government's actions have made this necessary.
10:16Yesterday, Minister Smodric even spoke of Israeli forces cleansing Gaza, destroying what's
10:28left of residents, Palestinians being relocated, he said, to third countries.
10:37We must call this what it is.
10:41It is extremism.
10:44National pressure has been building on Israel following a nearly three-month blockade of
10:49supplies into Gaza that led to famine warnings.
10:53The United States has voiced concerns over the growing hunger crisis, and France and Canada
10:58mirrored the United Kingdom and threatened to sanction Israel if it does not halt its offensive
11:04efforts and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
11:13Heavy rainfall across Spain has filled up dam reservoirs across the country, forcing some
11:18to release some of their water.
11:21El Atazar Dam Reservoir in Madrid has been releasing water in a controlled manner, but now that the
11:26dam has reached maximum capacity, it is being forced to release water from an additional spillway.
11:33The heavy rainfall is in stark contrast with last year's stubborn drought.
11:37Scientists say climate change is making swings between dryness and downpour more acute.
11:42possible results and benefits of the rain that are .
11:46possible by then?
11:47So if you do this more, can you see the most assuming that you do that?
11:51Maybe a one more, or a two more effort is why it is the service that we never took off.
11:52It will be more needed.
11:53We'll learn if its worth is right now.
11:54Ok, thank you for listening!
11:55My message is a message for you.
11:56It goes out to me!
11:58My message is that we are going to be talking about the more information about the last year's
12:00the most valuable to this world of us.
12:01understand what we did,正?
12:02It will be talking about the most valuable time in the past.
12:03I'll talk about the science of the world.
12:05I'll talk about it, because we can discuss and learn about the world of us.
