00:00I think paper is very similar to nature
00:02because it's very vulnerable and fragile.
00:08So having that quality in the material
00:11along the things that I represent
00:14I think that it blends really well
00:15because it makes people respect the work.
00:23My name is Diana Beltran Herrera
00:25I am a Colombian designer and artist.
00:30Coming from Colombia
00:32which is a very diverse country
00:35and full of handmade items and crafts
00:38I grew up making lots of things
00:40since I was very little
00:42so making objects and things
00:43has always been my passion.
00:47So paper was a really good material
00:49to test ideas and to just see
00:51how my ideas could become prototypes
00:53and then from the prototypes
00:54I could see an idea for an object.
01:00I use a range of simple mediums
01:03like acrylics, wood colour, spray paint
01:07and different brushes
01:09and also a cutting machine
01:10that allows me to create patterns.
01:18The effort and time I have put into
01:19taking my career to this level
01:21is endless hours of creativity.
01:24I am a very passionate and curious person
01:27about what I do
01:28so I don't see this as a job
01:30but as a lifestyle.
01:36I like to source information
01:38from books and images
01:40and that allows me to start creating my sketches
01:43then I jump into the sketch part of my world
01:46where I work digitally
01:47so I can submit digital sketches to my clients
01:50and visualise how my piece is going to look at the end.
01:53Then I jump into production
01:54which is exactly cutting the paper
01:57and creating the volumes
01:58and then the final step of my work
02:00is to do the documentation with photography.
02:08Currently I am working on a campaign
02:10for an Austrian brand
02:12that produces food
02:13and I think it's really interesting
02:15because it's replicating very complicated objects
02:18and trying to make them look like the real ones.
02:21This campaign is to showcase
02:23biodiversity and green soil
02:25so I think it also blends really well with my work.
02:31It's been every single day in my life
02:33that I have put a lot of love
02:35and a lot of attention to what I'm doing.
02:37I think also I'm sharing everything that I do
02:39and I think sharing is the most important thing
02:41to never be afraid.
