00:00I mean, last year, he won one game, basically, as a starter.
00:03And I think there were a million excuses, and I would make them as well.
00:07I would be like, the offensive line's trash.
00:09The receivers are trash.
00:10The head coach is trash.
00:11The offensive coordinator is really a quarterback's coach.
00:13He had a lot working against him.
00:16He did.
00:17So it was, I think, fair to lay out all those excuses.
00:20This year, it seems like I wouldn't say they completely cleaned up everything,
00:26but they improved everything.
00:27So even if you don't think this is a world-class offensive line, it's better.
00:32The receiving core, same thing.
00:33It's better.
00:34Offensive coordinator is better.
00:35The head coach is better.
00:35So everything around him is better.
00:38And the other side of the ball should be head and shoulders better.
00:40And I've also always maintained that the quarterback is the most important
00:43and the highest paid for a reason.
00:45Eventually, it will be the highest paid in his case.
00:47And they need to lift the play of everybody else around him, too.
00:51So I can't, on the one hand, make fun of Brock Purdy for being a guy
00:55that has all this great stuff around him,
00:57and it's more the guys around him and not sort of say that guy should be the one
01:03that raises the level of play.
01:05I think there are two, three spots in the league where almost any quarterback
01:08would be good.
01:09Every other place, the quarterback's the one that needs to sort of lead that team,
01:12carry that team forward.
01:13And that's what they need Drake May to be.
01:16You know, I'm not worried after one OTA practice.
01:20However, I don't think we certainly know for sure.
01:23I don't think we know what he's going to be.
01:25Like, last year's rookies, I think Washington probably feels pretty good about Jaden Daniels
01:29because they saw it on a week-in and week-out basis.
01:31I think how Chicago fans feel about Caleb Williams is probably similar to how Patriots fans
01:36should feel about Drake May.
01:38Yeah.
01:38You know, it's like, yeah, there's still a lot of potential.
01:41Saw flashes of it during the season, but also saw flashes of the other thing where you're
01:45like, oh, this could slip away.
01:46So I still feel like that, you know, they have their obvious starter, but we really don't
01:51know what he's going to be yet in the league.
01:53So, no, I agree with all that.
01:55And no one's saying he's a bust because of one day at OTAs.
01:58Yeah, right.
01:59But...
01:59And also, you can thank the Celtics and the Bruins not being in the playoffs for why we're
02:04starting with Drake May OTAs.
02:06I mean, look, we would have gotten to it either way, but you're right.
02:09If there was a Celtics playoff game last night, we wouldn't be probably starting here.
02:11That's fair.
02:12Same thing with the Bruins.
02:14But already, and you're right, there is a bigger, more sizable, critical group of Drake
02:18May than it feels.
