UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that Britain has paused free trade talks with Israel, summoned its ambassador, and announced further sanctions against West Bank settlers.

Lammy said the offensive was not the way to bring remaining hostages home, called for Israel to end the blockade of aid and condemned what he called "extremism" in some sections of Israel's government.

Britain also sanctioned a number of individuals and groups in the West Bank who it said had been linked with acts of violence against Palestinians.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer added that he was horrified by the military escalation in Gaza.

00:40We will be reviewing cooperation with them under the 2030 bilateral roadmap.
00:48The Netanyahu's government's actions have made this necessary, Madam Deputy Speaker.
00:54Today, my honourable friend, the Minister for the Middle East, is summoning the Israeli ambassadors of the Foreign Office to convey this message.
