Which EU country seizes the highest amount of fake goods?

00:00The European Union is a key target for fake goods.
00:08Fake products are flooding global markets.
00:11Cantefate trade is now valued at around 417 billion euros,
00:17accounting for 2.3% of total global imports.
00:22The EU has a big problem with it.
00:25Around 4.7% of its imports, worth over 100 billion euros, are fake.
00:32Germany tops the global chart,
00:34representing more than a quarter of the total value of seized fake items.
00:40France and Belgium are also prime targets,
00:43with 9% and 7% respectively of the total global seized value.
00:49The main source of these products is China.
00:52The country leads both in the number of seizures and the value of fake goods,
00:57followed by Turkey and Hong Kong.
01:00Clothing items are the best-selling fake goods.
01:04This, however, isn't just about knock-off handbags.
01:08Customs officials are increasingly intercepting products
01:11that pose serious health and safety risks,
01:14particularly toys and cosmetics,
01:17respectively in the 6th and 7th place in terms of quantity seized.
01:22The presence of Cantefate automotive parts and pharmaceutical products
01:26is also particularly concerning.
